The lake is really really low. You can’t even see water until the back half of the trail and then it’s more of a swamp. The vegetation is still recovering from the fire. It was still a great hike to do!!

This was a really nice hike for my wife and myself. It was a little muddy in places due to rain yesterday. We really enjoyed the beautiful views!

Definately a place to check off the list & a unique site as the 2nd tallest waterfall in the NF, but go with expectations. This is NOT a hiker's hike. You will encounter grafitti, trash, sewage, loud human noises, partiers & the trail inexperienced (read: don't know trail ettiquette). While it's rated moderate for the rocks & a short hill, it's fairly easy. Kids & small dogs could make it.

Easy yet epic hike, check out my guide here: https://hikingguy.com/hiking-trails/best-la-hikes/devils-chair-hike-devils-punchbowl-natural-area/

I did this hike before the fires and really loved it

The burnt trees still remains, Dripping Cave trail closed. Winter time is good for me to hike this area because of the cool weather.

Great quick, thigh busting hike! Wouldn't recommend if you have knee issues though. It's definitely a suburban hike, so don't expect any glorious views. plenty of neighborhood parking. Also a nice walking path surrounding the park too.

Beautiful trail, great for beginners. Lots to see and explore.

Very fun and interesting trail. Really cute waterfall and something really nice to see during the winter!

Great hike with friends

Great hike, and young ages can do it too. When you get to the top, there’s a nice view of Irvine, and the ocean. It’s quite green despite the fires, but you can see where the damage is. Either way, next time I plan to mtb when I’m on this trail.

Loved this hike. I would say it is on the easy to moderate side based on my experience with other AllTrails hikes and ratings. The hike in is a breeze. The walk down to the chair is steep for about 25 yards and then easy peasy. I do hike a lot, as my daughter reminds me, but it is not hard at all. As for the trail eroding, it's not bad at all. I have a fear of narrow, steep trails, and I was able to do this without too much effort. Beautiful area! It would probably be hot in the morning in the summer months when the sun is shining on the trail, but most of this trail is in the shade on the north side of the mountain. Cool in late December.

My friends and I were camping down below and decided to go on a hike. we thought this was the 2 mile hike and as inexperienced hikers we packed a granola bar each and a bottle of water each. "Travel light" we thought. it was mid July and about 80° one kid forgot his water so we had to share with him. Thankfully even with the dehydration and hunger, we still enjoyed this hike. Once you reach the "chair" it's well worth it.

This was my first active activity in years. I'm a larger feller lol. I was huffing and puffing the entire way. I had to take about 10-15 short breaks to catch my breath. My legs weren't too bad. just my stamina. It wasn't very scenic on the way to the end. Unless you turned around and took in the view of Rancho behind you. When you're almost to the end, you'll start to hear water. You'll come to a tree and see a long inclined section. Don't give up, that's the last leg. Then you're there. It's very pretty at the end. A small River and lots of trees. We went to the left of the river and rocks and hiked another 2 minutes to come to a tiny water fall. It was so relaxing. we stayed there about 10 minutes. Just enjoying the sounds. no one came up there the whole time. Once done, we decided to hike up steam through the rocks. After going up a bit and not seeing anything much different we decided to head back down. Because of being waaay out of shape (I'm 295lbs) with all of the breaks, this took about 1.5 hours to get to the end. The hike down was like 15-30 minutes. The pictures and memories my girlfriend and I got it of this was well worth the agony (1st world agony) lol.
Warning: No shade at all until the end. if doing this in summer, wear protection or you will get burned.

Good hike. One little steep hill. Very easy

I would have given this trail more then 1 star however the recent fires have destroyed the trail. it used to be beautiful. lots of colorful flowers, wildlife, u could see the canyons clear across. now it's just burnt. the trail seems to have disappeared. it's pretty much unrecognizable now. the one nice thing to see was random new growth here and there. if u walk to the right more towards the houses u will see all the damage to the houses and how it jumped one house and got the house next to it. so sad.

The main trail all the way up is full of small loose rocks. The scene and waterfall at the top was worth the walk up.

Unfortunately, a ton of graffiti. Very rocky. Wonderful spot all year!

Nice and easy with the kids and dog. Really nice with the snow on the ground

Great short-ish hike. Pretty well covered throughout with beautiful views of the high desert. The beginning mile and end mile are steep but the bulk of the hike is pretty easy. A few hairy spots where the trail is eroding pretty bad, but all in all this is a good hike with kids/dogs.

This hike was awesome!! This week, there was still some ice on the ground so it made the trail muddy and slippery. But plenty of great views and huge rocks to take pictures on! I highly recommend this to anyone in big bear!

Beautiful scenery. I’d definitely be back for some more amazing views. We went on a Tuesday morning and there wasn’t much activity which was lovely; however, I wouldn’t encourage anyone to hike alone. We didn’t see any wildlife but we did see dog, and possibly bobcat and coyotes paw prints. Surely this hike is easy to complete, but enough to sweat a little.

Nice! No shade but still nice.

As the early morning sun appeared over the hazy Inland Empire, it revealed a sun-trenched day... and a golden opportunity for a rigorous hike to a peaceful waterfall!

This was perfect to take our 3 year old on a short and simple hike.

Awesome hike. My wife and I really enjoyed it. Took our time to let the scenery sink in. There was a little snow on the trail from last week’s rain, but it was all worth it.
Started at 0930 got back to parking lot at 1430.
