Hikes to do Map

on Signal Hill Trail

Why a 5 rating? It's personal. I need to get in shape for a backpacking trip I plan to do in the near future. This trail serves almost all my needs, save for the 9000 feet elevation, and it's a mile from my house. Switchbacks, Elevation gain, Gorgeous views, it's all here. What is surprising to me is that I might not have discovered it were it not for the Alltrails app. BTW i'm 70 and a half. Old guys rule!

We take our young kids here all the time. It’s a fun, easy hike with so many cool birds to identify. Beautiful, peaceful, and nice HB locals. No bikes allowed.

This trail is one of my favorite go to spots to think while walking. Great people and easy to make new friends along the way.

Cute trail through neighborhood.
100% incline @ all times!!

Me and my boyfriend run here ever morning and we love it, it’s so peaceful and beautiful! Love love love!!!!

This should be rated difficult. I have pro version of AllTrails so know I was following prescribed trail. Not acceptable in one section -20 to 40’ drop off. Multiple areas had to scramble.

Started counter clockwise. Thought Trail was gorgeous with views to ocean and Catalina Island poking out behind Palos Verdes Peninsula, especially with clouds providing shade.

7.4 mi in when you get to Vermont Canyon Road where Greek Theatre located, across street is where you will have to scramble up 100+ feet (this isn’t shown as an actual ‘dotted line path’ on map). Poles won’t work and forget it if raining. 8 mi in where Trail connects with Riverside Trail there is a 20 to 40 foot drop off. I have a video showing a man against this cliff. This was not acceptable- AllTrails needs to fix this. I took chance by scrambling down then jumping since ~8 mi in for 9.8 mi hike. Check out my photos and video of this ridiculous cliff with man at base so you can see significant drop off.

I do not recommend this hike because of this drop off. Or take an alternative route starting at Greek Theater to Riverside Trail-avoiding 100+ uphill scramble and 20+ foot drop off.

I have walk this trial several times , but last times I have noticed less and less water and more house construction. So much destruction around the area. machines extracting water too. Very sad .

es super para caminar 4 millas ahoy yeee

We saw three ospreys very beautiful! We went early around 7:00am

Easy, scenic trail. Saw rabbits, countless birds, lizards and a baby rattle snake! Down side, you get hints of car noise from the PCH and not secluded.

Enjoyed the birding photo opportunity.

Nice gentle walk along the cliff.

Road biking. Ocean view. Very easy

nice hike with easy parking. a lot of runners so this might be a good spot if you like to jog/run

Great views and not terribly taxing. Coming back is a bit of an uphill battle but the free street parking at Coastal Peak Park is always nice.

More of a walk through a neighborhood instead of a hike.

Very peaceful when the weather isn’t great!

I see new things each time I come here

Awesome trail!

This was an okay hike, if you take the trail counter clockwise you have a steady climb and can dip into Discovery Well Park to add a few more yards. On a Saturday morning this area is jam packed full of people (as expected). I feel as though this would be better for running than backpacking and though I gave it 3 stars I will return with running in mind.

The map given does not account for the switch back trails you can use on the ocean facing side of the hill. There are really nice views and this hike can take you in a few different directions and slight elevation changes. If you have time, follow a different path with the trail markers. It's hard to get lost. It's not a huge area. Remember where you parked and head in that general direction when you want to get back. Trails go from paved, to decomposed granite, to sidewalks in neighborhoods, back to trails. It just depends on what you are in the mood for, and what kind of time you have. It's a peaceful hike/jog. I take my dog all the time. Allowed on leash, and pick up after them. Doggie poo bag stations can be found at intervals if you forgot your own.

The views were amazing! However, it was extremely hard to identify where to continue on the trail despite referring to the map on the app. After a few minutes I was just over it.

Great hike. Amazing views. The trail at the beginning goes down so coming back..... Your going up. But we did 5.5 miles and it wonderful. Lots of beetles, rabbits and road runners. Park by the soccer field and walk up to the trail.

Great hike!
