So beautiful!
I loved this short hike! Completed the loop in 30 minutes because I was on a time crunch to meet a friend. I will definitely go back and take my time!
Amazing! The neighborhood illegally painted the streets red, but for those who are there for the workout it makes this journey even better. Almost a mile to the stairs and then here comes so true stepping. Not too crowed and everyone is respecting the mask mandate.
Did this hike in the snow. Trailhead was snowed in so we got an extra couple miles in from the visitor center. Did not find waterfall, but were treated to lovely views nonetheless. DO NOT bring too many white claws, you will have to carry your friend and her tiny dog back to the visitor center, in the snow. 10/10.
Wonderful hike! It gets hard towards the end. Also we got off the route and ended up doing a side trail through manzanita forest. Overall very worth it! We also visited Indian Springs on the way up and had a small picnic there with the kids.
This is an easy trail to complete with kiddos that don’t mind walking. The last little bit was harder for our 3 year old but he hiked the rest of the way.
Nice walk on a very wide path. Great views.
Trail was a good work out but skull rock wasn’t what I was expecting. Lots of graffiti and dirty and not great views.
The views are amazing and offer some great rest spots. It was super busy when we were there but everyone was nice. We enjoyed going on the trail that goes under the bridge. Except a chunk fell off from under the bridge near us and scared us. We did take my Jeep the extra mile down the OHV trail which was great too. Please bring water & it is rocky so wear good shoes. Saw too many people not prepared.
Plenty of trails to choose from. Not too busy, got to see some wild flowers and plenty of wildlife. Some incline, bring plenty of water because it's starting to heat up.
Beautiful trail, a couple of inclines and steps, but worth it. Views were beautiful
pretty hike, we couldn’t find the horse tho :/ hope y’all find it soon. not much shade, gorgeous views of the desert. Go clockwise! The mine was cool too!
Liked the trail but skull rock wasn’t much to look at

Steep 1st mile, easy 2nd mile, scary past Spruce Camp. Watch for poison oak, it's everywhere.
Nice little loop trail with a pretty waterfall. A very pleasant hike!
The views are spectacular and since it is one of the most popular hiking spots, I would recommend going late afternoon so it is not so crowded.
wasn't bad of a hike, great view going up
Beautiful views, but ridiculously crowded.
It’s okay. I’m just not into being able to see the residential homes.
Very nice hiking for the kids. The parking lot is about 1 mile before the beginning of the hike and this is probably the part that has more ups and downs. The hike is actually very easy
Wow what a pretty area. All open space with rolling hills that just go on. So many trail systems here. All skill level trails. And plenty of parking. If you park in the dirt lot there is a $3.00 charge ( cash only ) or you can park on the street for free.
Great trail and the bridge is really pretty. But it was really crowded today.
New to hiking... not much in the way of signs along the way. Trail was sand to gravel with a bit of boulders at top. People of all ages on the trail. beautiful vistas all along the way!
ALERT : Western Black Legged Ticks infestation at Escondido Canyon Park. I wanted to alert our neighbors that while enjoying an evening stroll at Escondido Canyon Park yesterday I found myself covered in Western Black Legged Ticks. I was walking the path that branches off to the right (East) - moving away from the falls after you drop down from our Winding Way. I’ve never gone that way and followed the trail towards the Sycamore neighborhood. Anyhow, I was walking along the path and bent down to pick up a rock on the trail and noticed my legs had ticks all over them, 10+ all sizes. These were Western Black Legged Ticks, the ticks that are testing positive for Lyme Disease in Malibu. I looked closer at the blades of grass that bent over the trail and saw the entire area is infested, ticks all over them, horrifying! It is life threatening to contract Lyme Disease (ticks carry multiple pathogens). Do a quick google search “Malibu Lyme Disease”.
Hiked 4/9/2021 Dry trails with just a few manageable patches of dirt covered ice along the creek (did not need spikes at all). We had hoped St. Mary's Falls would be melted since the creek was running the entire way up, but it was still frozen and covered in snow. Still beautiful! Gorgeous weather = lots of people on the trail, but everyone was pleasant. Knocked one star off for the amount of trash on the trail. Come on people, if you bring it in, bring it back out - including your dog's bagged poop, your used thong and your disgusting snot rag (yes, we found all of these and then some on the trail today!).
Fantastic hike. Starts pretty easy, but definitely gets trickier as you approach the falls. We did not find the waterfall anticlimactic, and really enjoyed the cool water. Bring lots of water because the heat does make it tougher.
