on Mount Pilchuck Trail

Be aware of potholes, drive carefully and arrive early for a parking spot. Did the hike on Saturday morning and some sections were very icy, I fell even with trekking poles and saw a lady fall hard luckily she was ok. Just be careful and take your time, some scrambling at the top but well worth it. The day was clear and gorgeous views of Baker and Rainier.

Beautiful day on Saturday the 13th on the mountain. At the top there was some ice on boulders that was difficult to navigate, a lot of people fell and one hit his head on the rock pretty hard. Be careful, bring spikes and poles, but definitely check it out!

Nice hike. Great payoff. Tracked it as 5.7 miles not 4.8. 3-4 hours total. Get there early.

lots of ups and downs. lots of fungi..... fun hike with kids and critters. my only complaint..... need more signs.

This is a nice little hike. It goes from beach to forest. I think it would be best to start at the forest end and walk to the beach.

Couple sites on the way to camp over night
Severe pot holes
Not much scenery on the way up
Great trail wide and well maintained

Not the most strenuous hike out there but unbelievable lake and surrounding mountain views!!! Circled around the lake a few times since it was so stunning

We did this hike right after climbing Mt Pilchuck. It was a well marked trail, It was around 11am and there was a good amount of people on the trail. It is a very easy trail for beginners. The views of the lake are really pretty and worth stopping by for a short hike. The road to this parking lot was very bumpy, we had a truck so we were alright.

This was our first hike in Washington during our vacay. We started at around 7:30am, the parking lot was pretty empty. The weather was great and the trail was dry so no chances of slipping on rocks. The trail was surprisingly easy, it might of been because we were really excited to start our week of multiple hikes. We ended up taking only 2 hours out and back to complete the hike. there is a good amount of rock scramble to the top, We stopped at the summit to eat and take photos but it was heavily trafficked going the way down. I suggest going earlier if you want to beat the crowds. I would recommend doing this hike! I also saw doggies the size of our roommates cat complete the hike so its deff dog friendly.

super easy trail with pretty views at the end. Not worth more than 1.9m one way but if you're pressed on time this is good

Literally one of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever done. Get there early to beat the crowds! We hiked up past the clouds and had an amazing view of mount baker AND mount rainier. We really lucked out :) the fire lookout is awesome and full of history. The hike itself is not that hard, took a little less than 2 hours to get up to the top.

Nice trail... very quiet - probably because of the time of year.. well kept, falls didn’t have much water but a nice place to hang out - esp. for the kids.. it’s an easy trail - saw some families with 4-6yr olds.. lot of people walking their dogs too..

Challenging hike. Beautiful views except when we got to the top it was very cloudy.

Was a bit disappointed this wasn’t as long as I thought it was and more of a walk than a hike. It’s main attraction is the fish ladder. No pass is need to park.

This was a wonderful hike for a beginner hiker like me! The views at the top were gorgeous. Just make sure to bring waterproof shoes.

Arrived about 11:00 on Wednesday, October 3. Only one car in the parking area. Road does have big potholes but my Subaru Forester did fine. It’s a flat road and easy to get around most the holes.

Trail is really wet. Not muddy, just running water in a lot of the area. Waterproof shoes are a plus. It’s a good hike, but nothing particularly amazing about it, looks almost exactly like Lake 22.

Nice lake, super clear and clean, no bugs. Still a little patch of snow at the lake, that was a pleasant surprise.

I had done this in some heavy snow a few years back and I found the hike much prettier then.

We did this hike in late September 2018 on a very nice Saturday. About 9 miles, but we did it “backwards”. We went straight up West Tiger #3 first to the summit where the Hiker’s Hut is located. It’s straight up the entire way. On the way back down we cut across on K-3. It says K-3 is unmaintained, but it was in perfect condition. The hike is straight down about 5 miles from the top. There are only 2 views on this entire hike, with the rest being in the dense forest. Don’t get me wrong the forest is amazingly beautiful, but the scenery is the same the entire hike. It was only moderately busy even on a Saturday, with long stretches of seeing nobody.

Beware of the 1 mile stretch of potholes to the trailhead! Otherwise, everything else is nice.

Nice walk in the woods on easy trail. The falls would be more impressive earlier in the season I’m sure.

The path is well marked. The trail is rocky. Streams and puddles cross the path several times. There wasn’t enough water to warrant water proof boots yet. But a few more rainy days will change this.
Highlights: The large stumps are hard to miss. Fun to cross the small waterfall. The lake and the large cliff behind it is well worth the effort.

Big gain in a short distance. Well worth the work with beautiful vistas and quite a bit of fun scrambling at the top.

Trail is in awesome condition! Rainy season is definitely upon us. Remember to bring rain gear and wear waterproof shoes, you have to navigate through some creeks and a small waterfall. We saw a couple families with small children turn around due to the creeks flowing through the trail. My pup absolutely LOVED it and jumping on over all the roots and big rocks along the way!

I went today, pulled up to the TH at 10:30am, only 2 other cars parked. Took an hour & half to get to the lake, steep uphill trail, slick on a rainy day. Visibility was incredibly low but still was a beautiful lake well worth the elevation gain!!

One of my favorite, and not too difficult, trails. This hike is great for anyone of any athletic level. Very kid and pet friendly hike. Have hiked this twice but never saw anyone swim. Bring plenty of water!

Hiked up heather lake on 09/16; was pouring rain for the first half, and it stopped by the time we got to the top. Lots of water & mini waterfalls flowing along the trail, so waterproof boots and clothing highly recommended! Brought a small picnic to eat at the top with the beautiful view of the lake. Overall an awesome hike and will definitely come again on a day with better weather.

*Side note: the drive up the mountain to the trailhead parking lot has A LOT of potholes! I made it fine with the VW Jetta, but just something to watch out for.

Great hike, especially on a clear day. Not too difficult, last stretch is the hardest. Took just over 2 hours to get up.
The road up was full of potholes! The trailhead is about 5 miles past Heather Lake.

Pretty hike, trail is difficult due to rocks and roots and it’s literally a stream. Make sure to wear waterproof shoes since you’ll need to walk in water. The lake is beautiful and the sun was just coming up behind the mountain around 12.

It was a nice walk in the middle of woods. Good way to get some exercise.
