A very nice trail that can be completed in a couple of hours. 2/3rds of the way up it does get a bit strenuous while the descent is more gradual. Could do the trail counterclockwise to reverse that. The view of the mountains and lake is well worth the climb. Very clean and well maintained trail.

Great View from the top but very busy trail .

Great hike. Don’t take a stroller. The kids loved it

Amazing views. So worth it

My first time here. Took my two boys 20 and 10 and they both loved it. Beautiful serene and pure nature. We spent about2 hours here! Weather was perfect daw a few other hikers. Overall wonderful experience.

Straight up Stairs! This is a good and challenging trial with a view that is worth the effort. I don’t mind hiking moderate trails, but this one had a good section of the trail as stairs with timbers or stone steps, which is hard on my knees, especially on the way down. It also makes the trial narrow in places which caused for bottle necks. Fun hike, very busy on a fall weekend, but the view is so worth it.

Fun hike! Go counterclockwise by river first! Boys 6 & 10 had a blast!

short hike but enough to make you sweat due elevation! the view on top was great! glad me and my kids did this hike.watch out for the cliff.

It’s a trail littered with roots so be careful when walking. After Florence, the trail to the falls and the part of the loop are closed off.

this trail is one of my favorites for a short hike with my labrador...we both get great cardio benefits and i love the ease of traveling the dry trails. I'm a seasoned, 65 year old female hiker with most of my hikes being in the Presidential Range in the White Mountains of NH. Always see deer and in the fall, it can have some pretty color.

Awesome trail! Allowed us to get out of the car for a couple hours and stretch our legs on the 11 hour drive home from Myrtle Beach to Northeast Ohio. It was a bit crowded but the trail itself was challenging and fun! Hidden gem in NC!

Well marked, clear trail.

Amazing view

Good views and easy trails.

the only thing I didn't like was no signage at crossroads. At one point from the overlook, I ended up in Yates Mill again instead of the loop I wanted.

My friends and I completed this hike in May. It takes you to a beautiful overlook. You will not see much on the hike up, but since it’s a relatively short hike, the view is absolutely worth it. We went early and had the overlook to ourselves for some time.

Good trail; moderately uphill/downhill at times. Was just fine with three dogs. Plenty of opportunities for them to hop in the water and cool off/swim.

I’ve done this trail a couple times and it has amazing views. The first time there was only a couple people on the trial, but this last time the trail was packed ( it was also a holiday weekend). The trail is well kept and easy to follow. This last time I took my 4 year old up it and it took about an hour each way with his little feet.

Went counterclockwise. Pretty at outset, with trail right right right up against the river. Rocky, rooty, and many many many trees down throughout the hike - evidence of storm, evidence of prescribed burn - easy to get past or around, though. Mostly shady. Averaged encounters with other hikers about every 30 minutes - nicely uncrowded for the Labor Day weekend. Welcome breeze and semi-blocked vista for picnic at top, about halfway in.

Beautiful trail but there were trees blocking a small portion of the path.

Not even hiking. It's just really good walking track. The view on the summit is amazing :)

Good scenery and interesting trail

Great trail. Spectacular view.

Great trail, view is amazing, but a little too short for my taste.

Wonderful views. Can't wait to go back. Go early to beat some of the crowd!!

The best trail in the park in my opinion. The day I hiked it was super foggy/rainy so views from the summit were zero. The fog up there made it feel like being in a cloud, so it was still very neat.

Nice hike in a beautiful State Park on a HOT summer day. Well marked but with 19 trees down across the trail none to difficult to maneuver.

came here on my first trip to North Carolina. was an amazing hike and well worth the drive

Easy family-friendly hike even after all the rain we had. I went backwards through the trail. lt was a great idea because it was super muddy red clay starting out and ending up back at the start of the trail all the mud was gone!
