Moderate hike with some steeper sections in the final third. There were ladders going over the steepest sections. The summit itself is entirely wooded with a small cairn. However, there is a nice outlook right before the summit itself. Most of the hike was icy/packed snow, so micro spikes are definitely recommended.

Awesome!

I love the Champney brook trail. Beautiful waterfalls about 1.5 miles into the hike. From there the grade goes up a little bit as you hike towards the first outlook. The outlook to the summit offer some rock scrambling and great views. The summit is breathtaking. 360* views. Easily one of the best hikes in N.H. More rewarding than many of the 4,000 footers in the area. A must do hike.

Boulder Loop is a great intro to the White Mtns. The solidly moderate 900' ascent and gentle descent are a good workout, rewarded by spectacular views from the ledges up top. Our knees hurt the next day - but we're getting old. ;-) Hiking shoes and trekking poles advised.

Went yesterday. Started out on Ethan Pond Trail and then went up Mt. Willey. Summit is a pile of rocks in the tree lines. There's was very little snow and ice on the ground. In the first 1.6 miles, lots of fallen leaves. The section after has the snow/ice. It was a good hike. Moderate in the beginning and steep near the top. You have to climb up roughly 6 man-made ladders. Because of snow and ice while climbing them.

We had a wonderful hike with our pup. Not too easy. Not too hard. Good investment in time. Outstanding views from the top. Could have stayed up on the ledges for hours.

We do this hike about ten times a year. The trail is a great morning get away. Only negative is to those of you that can't respect to dog leash rule, this weekend was a mess, enjoy the forest,,, respect the humans.

What a view! Rocky, with boulders, and roots make this trail interesting. A few steep spots but overall steady inclines. It was hard to leaVe the ledges. The view was so beautiful. We had them all to ourselves on a Saturday, after 3:00. You have to go back to the trail each time you go explore the ledges.

Great hike through a wooded deciduous forest with a stream parallel to the trail at the start. Quite a bit of work has resulted in a climb that is strenuous but moderate.
The summit affords exposed granite spectacular 360 degree views.

This was a fun hike, trails are well maintained and blazed, until you get about 200 yards from the summit and the blazes are on rock and rather hard to find but makes for a fun climb. would rate it as moderate.

Really enjoyed our hike. We went counter clockwise and spent about half an hour at the summit. Personally, I'd rank the hike easy overall. There was a brief period of steep incline, but it was short and not technical. Be careful you don't miss the summit!

Great hike with super rewarding views at the top. Definitely follow the advice to go counter clockwise, glad we did. My dog loved it, too. Not too crowded, even in peak foliage season.

Great views!

Very nice hike. We started by going to the waterfalls, which were great. Then headed up to the summit. Which has a very scenic lookout just before the peak. I would say it was a moderate trail which has wooden stairs/ladders over the steepest sections. Not a ton of long overly steep shoots.

Great hike Sat 9-29-18 on a beautiful day! It was crowded at the top. We hit the trail at 9am got the last spot in the lot. Others parked on the road. The parking fee was $5. We are in our 50’s and I’m slow. Took us 3 hrs up and 2.5 down. We had lunch at the top and let the dogs swim in falls on the way back. Beautiful day with beautiful views

Beautiful Waterfall just a little detour from the trail but great view from the summit overlooking white Mountains!

Absolutely incredible trip! Got to the summit in about two hours, with brief trail running in places but a few stops along the way as well. Not super well-marked once you start to move above the deciduous trees, but it’s apparent enough which way the trail goes. Views between tree line and the actual summit are to die for, pictures don’t do them justice and I probably spent at least an hour and a half just taking it all in. Some sections in the higher elevations are mostly smooth rock face with a little section near the edge that’s easier to navigate, which was probably the hardest part of the hike.

Spectacular views.
End of September, slippery rocks.

We went counter clockwise as suggested. Much easier on the knees. Weather was great. Only a hint of leaf fall color change though. Another week or two and it should be perfect for this hike

Really great hike, trail is well-maintained and doable for all ages. Awesome views at the top as well as along the trail at look-out points. We took the loop clockwise just because I had forgotten about the suggestions from this app but it wasn’t terribly hard coming down.

Beautiful start to the fall with this hike. We stared on Ethan Pond Trail, and then climbed to Willey. I will say that we were disappointed of hikers comments using numerous resources that it is dog friendly. We sadly had to turn around once we hit the ladders (probably another half hour left to the top) because our 80 lb, very athletic dog just couldn't do it. I would not recommend bringing your pup unless you plan to carry them on the ladders. We will be back without him to summit this beautiful mountain!

This trail was very steep! And very difficult! Slippery on the way down! The view at the top was amazing but this is not for beginners!

One of my favorites hikes. It is always beautiful and the views from the ledges are great. Good views for the effort.

One of the best hikes I’ve done!

My first time visiting the White mountains and I loved this trail! My friends and I went counter clockwise, as suggested by other reviews, and were glad we did. I would rate the inclines this way as moderate. The views are unbeatable and the trail itself is just gorgeous. Make sure you don’t miss the main look out point. There is a small sign posted on a tree, so keep your eyes out so you can see the best view!

Nice hike with great views from the top. We went counter-clockwise, so the steepest part was encountered going uphill, not downhill.
Also, nicely shaded everywhere (except the ledges at the summit), which was great on a hot day.

Nice hike. Not as scenic as I expected but worth doing.

Great trail with varying terrain. And the view on top is spectacular. Bring plenty of water. The falls provide a nice break on the way up.
