This is a fun hike - pretty easy and mellow for the most part. The parking made it seem like it was going to be crowded, but we didn't really run into anyone here. We brought out pup and she had a blast!

I accessed this trail by parking at Cold Spring Trailhead off E Mountain Drive. I actually started on West Fork, then to Cold Spring Trail, then to the peak. Yes, there are signs that say that Cold Spring Trail is closed, but I chose to ignore the signs and press on. The trail is actually totally fine and completely accessible without worry.

I brought my pup, who I had off leash the entire time. The lower part of WFCS and CS trails were moderately trafficked. Once we got to the first top out (Edison access dirt road), it changed from moderately trafficked to light trafficked. I think that's typically where people stop, take in the scenery and head back down.

We continued on the trail and actually passed the unmarked narrow trail to get to the peak. We ended up at the top of Cold Spring Trail, at the other entrance for East and West Fork Trails (off E Camino Cielo). So we headed back down and I guessed at which unmarked narrow trail it was. Once you leave Cold Spring Trail to continue onto the peak, the trail is SKETCH. It's not maintained by any means, definitely a forged path with lots of loose rocks. I would caution anyone who doesn't have the proper shoes. But the sight is definitely a sight to see. I was very happy to be up there and see all of SB and even as far as Carpinteria!

I definitely recommend this hike to anyone. We had a blast :)

This is an amazing hike...probably my favorite that I’ve taken! Portions of it are flat and easy while other sections provide some challenge (nothing too intense). The majority of the hike is under canopy which adds to the lushness and cool temperature....all around ideal setting. If you’re looking for an active way to enjoy Santa Barbara for a couple hours I highly recommend hitting this trail.

I just did this yesterday. The trail was hard to follow. I went up the creek, clambering over rocks. You do have to rock climb at some point to continue on this trail. Then I went up the rope, which is off to the left of the creek. You can then go left at the top to return a different way, or right to continue on the trail. There's more rock climbing. Despite the difficulty of knowing where to go, it was a great adventure. And there's a bit of water!

BEAUTIFUL views! Limited parking space if you go in the morning.

Great drive to the destination and fun hike up to the caves. Smoked a fatty and chilled for awhile. Best way to relax.

very well maintained trail .. moderate hike very nice views of Santa Barbara worth the hike.. early mornings best

Easy hike with a beautiful view of Santa Barbara at the end.

Decent climb and good trail to bring your dog. Beautiful view of all Santa Barbara at the top. Stay left at the fork. Parking can be variable, but there are several spots along the road if your willing to walk to road to the trail head.

The Cold Spring trailhead on East Mountain Dr. is closed. Not sure how people are hiking this, unless they accessed the trail from another point?

not really a trail but if you near it do it. the view is awesome from the house. great for all ages because it's so easy

One of my favorite hikes in Santa Barbara. Great views all throughout.
Moderate hike

Beautiful view! Great for pictures
Easy trail

Great trail, can connect to the fire road overlook trail which ends at a radio tower directly above/across from the tunnel. To connect you have to find a small path that goes downhill north from the second set of caves. You'll drop into a live oak grove that connects to the fire road.

Love that Jesusita connects you to other trails giving you a choice to seek more or turn right back and seek more maybe another day.

well kept up trail..great to bring your best friend..very enjoyable

Beautiful trail with breathtaking views towards the end. Also, a nice workout, especially the last mile or so. We also didn’t see any rattle snakes, which was a welcome relief.

Nice hike with beautiful views

Easy trail with gorgeous views

Beautiful hike for most of it. There is a point where you are standing under some very big shady trees and you have to choose to go straight or to the left. There is a trail sign, but neither direction is called Rattle Snake Canyon. To the left is the remainder of the trail. It’s at this junction most of the regulars turn around. I learned why. The rest is really steep. No shade and hot. The views are not that impressive and the end of the trail is nothing special. It just links up with other trails into another canyon. Great if you want a leg burner or a sunburn or to link up to the other trails. Up until those beautiful trees it was beautiful, shady and I couldn’t stop talking pictures. Will make this a regular hike.

This was harder then I expected. It’s really uphill and pretty bumpy/rocky. Some beautiful views along the way. It’s 2.8 miles to the top. Would recommend when it’s not too hot out or cloudy day because there’s no shade.

I hiked this back in late 2012 in a large group. Short but steep, so it’ll get your heart rate up. Beautiful views of the ocean and surrounding mountains. There is camping on the state beach below. Not sure if dogs are allowed on this trail but they are not allowed on the beach. Very windy, obviously, so dress in layers. The caves are really cool, but unfortunately there is a lot of graffiti.

On an overcast weekend morning, starting out at 9:15am, it was not crowded on the trail though parking was pretty full. A beautiful hike even with some clouds. The trail forks about halfway up. Stay to the left.

Pretty quick hike up to the caves with lovely views. Not super strenuous but a decent work out.

I didn’t think I could make it all the way, but I did and the view was amazing!

Trail is open.
