Great hike if you want to beat the crowd at Squaw Peak summit trail.

Great for a quick cardio sesh with some very nice views at the top.

it definately has opportunity to try different trails. it does spider off and connect to other trails randomly. the trail makes you feel like you're in the middle of the desert but you know that the freeway is close by. I have run into a snake before, no big deal. the wild life is very scarce. great starting area!

This was a great trail! Difficult but not too hard, we will definitely be back!

Sunrise hikes are the best

Short and steep! Not really a hike but worth doing I guess. Good views from the top. Paved road most of the way. I doo this trail when I needs something quick but still want to work hard. It’s only easy because of the distance. It is steep so keep that in mind.

I begin up the steep side to the left for cardio a workout.
Elevation is roughly 680.
40 minute loop.
Jog up the left and circle back down to the trail head, on the right.

If you have small children I strongly suggest you begin the path on the RIGHT SIDE at the trail head, as it is less of a physical challenge and easier hike.

Easy path to follow.
Snake sighting. Always wear proper hiking boots.
Memorial at the top of the mountain for the 19 HOT SHOTS.

My favorite trail easy to get to in middle of the city.
Wide, clean, and easy trails great for children and dogs. Clean restrooms with limited parking.

Would be brutal in full sun but a great hike inbetween monsoons!

Good workout. Went counterclock-wise to the right. Nice incline for cardio. Talked with a local hiker who told us the descent on the backside was steep and slick. We chose to return the same way as we went up.

My favorite hike so far. Very moderate steep incline for a while but after you get passed that it is easy. The views from the top are the best in Phoenix in my opinion. Very pretty, worth the hike for sure.

Good hike a little hot, get out early and get er done!!! I think it would be great to trail run this trail.

Good hike. Was pretty flat in the very beginning leading up to the incline then it gets pretty steep as the trail progresses. Cool view at the top of the 3,848 foot mountain including Scottsdale Airport and the greater Phoenix valley area (downtown and Camelback Mountain) to the southwest and the greater desert area to the north and northeast.

Pretty steep but fun!

Interesting feel to this one. You know you’re 10 minutes out of the city yet feel like you’re in the middle of no where.

For the more experienced this is great for a late afternoon or early morning hike to beat that mid day sun.

Still a great hike for those less experienced hikers. Be sure to bring lots of water and allow ample daylight to finish.

easy and causal hike

This is the perfect early morning trail for my dog and me. Pretty busy on the weekends though. It’s not difficult, but you definitely feel like you get a good workout in if you keep a good pace.

First time walking this trail and I loved it. A leg workout for sure, first part is a little tough but gets easier up top. This is a huge hiking area so I did not have too much time to explore side trails as much I would love too. Definitely returning and exploring more. Highly recommend this trail! Bring plenty of water! I was almost out walking down the hill.

Took us 1 hour up, 50 minutes down. The trail is easy to follow. This is a leg workout! Great views at the top and along the way. We started the trail at 6 am and the temperature was perfect. You do get some shade in the middle of the hike too, at the hour we went.

Cardio isn’t fun but a necessity

First of all, I’d definitely recommend doing the hike. Very clearly marked. Well maintained. Beautiful view — I did mine at sunset and it was amazing.

My watch registered this hike at just a shy under 5 miles. And, it was a tad harder than I had anticipated it would be.

The first .25 miles are nothing but a walk through the desert. The next .75-1 mile was essentially straight incline - you think you’re done a bunch of times. Tons of switch backs. Very little relief. The last .75 was a mixture of ups and downs but since you can see your destination it’s not bad at all.

I’d strongly suggest not going in the heat of the sun.

Well marked, some loose surface and sharp rocks. Good for experienced trail runners. Great views, easy to get to from Scottsdale. I went clockwise, I think best direction for early morning shade and allows for a faster finish pace back through the valley to the car parks. Get the steep, busy summit section done first. Lots of people park close to the start of the summit tail. You can park further up and jog down to the start. Going back to do again on my next visit and will include the summit trail to add some more distance.

Beautiful hike and very well marked and maintained trail

Amazing like always cardio workouts help me stay fit and on track

Very scenic; starts out with a lot of uphill then gets easier. No bug issues May 24
