Beautiful area. We went in the fall, and the colors were absolutely amazing. It is a dirt road for a way towards the end, and a very narrow dirt road at the end.

Leaves are dropping, first day of fall feels like the first day of fall

Fun September hike especially early in the day. Once you get to Mountaintop Road, there won't be any shade. I did this hike with a young Minischnauzer, which was just about as much as he could handle. I left the campground trailhead at 8:30 a.m. and got to the very top at 11:30 a.m. I was back down by the start of the trailhead at 1:30 p.m. So, altogether, a five-hour hike with some very short stops along the way.

We walked this trail with our kids (ages 2-8) and they all enjoyed it. The trail was fully paved, so even though some of us were wearing sandals (that’s bad, I know, but we stopped on a whim

Very fun easy hike! Great views and well maintained. Just watch for traffic on the narrow trails.

Nice views. Harder than moderate. Loose footing and steep at a few areas.

Worth the walk if you need to stretch your legs or use the bathroom but not worth a special trip. Short paved trails with informational signs.

TRAIL REPORT- Elk Meadows via Gipson Jack Creek
Location: Gibson Jack Trail Head, Pocatello, Idaho
Date: August 2, 2018. Had a nice cool breeze most of the day.
Riders: Pat Kent, Jodie Mills, Milton Emery, Bob Deeter
Propose: Pleasure Ride
Trail: Easy to moderate. 12.9 miles round trip with a 4.4 mile loop at the top. Three rocky places getting to the winter warming hut. Next time I will look for another trail without the rocks, by going to the left instead going right at the start of the loop.
A big thank you to DON ROSS who was cutting brush ALL day yesterday on this trail. God bless him and all the trails he rides.

Many moments of solitude on Scout Mountain.
The occasional sound of other campers in the distance was a nice gleam of mentioning others’ presence.
Gentle sights of wildlife and plant life, with an enjoyable glow of sunsets and sunrises.
Camp space was well-laid and cozy. Big enough for two large tents, while small enough to push for some nice walk and exploration of the area.

The half mile loop is marked with blue painted poles. There is no clear trail. Be sure to bring leather boots, the lava will tear up shoes. There are lots of fissure to jump over, some fairly deep. This is close to my home, so I’ve been maybe 6 times, and each time it looks different. If it is clear, you’ll have nice views of the buttes and snow capped mountains (about 9 months per year). I hiked the loop June 9th this year, and the cacti were in bloom. That was a first!

Beautiful and fairly easy hike. Four stars simply because I prefer trails that don't allow motorcycles on them. Bikes are ok. Views from the top were excellent. Also, nice that it is near Pocatello. Nice wildflowers and didn't see much wildlife.

Rode this trail earlier today. Pretty fair climb up, but nothing insane. Super smooth, flowy ride back down. One of the most enjoyable descents I've ever had. Would highly recommend

I absolutely love this trail. I use it all the time with my family and our dog. It’s the perfect place for biking or hiking. There are trailheads for flatter, easier hikes or steeper, uphill climbs for a great view of Pocatello and the mountains!

This trail is found at a rest stop in Idaho. If stopping off here, do a quick walk… It’ll take you 10 to 15 minutes but really it’s just a time killer while everybody else goes to the bathroom at this rest stop. I mean, it’s better than playing Solitaire on your cell phone while you’re waiting so go out and explore and learn something about lava formations.

Kind of boring and not at all hard.

Fun scenic trails just hard to get out of others way with a stroller

Very pretty scenery. Not super wide trails so hard to get out of the way of bikers or to let others pass.

Beautiful in May!!!

The trail was super short, yet the whole trail is all uphill. My family (which I would consider to be very athletic) had to rest every few yards to catch our breath. On the way down you would have to crawl on your butt to lower the risk of falling down. Overall though, I would consider the trail to be very fun and it would be great for training.

Excellent trails for hiking along the creek. It's really well maintained by officials and citizens alike and very clean. I didn't see a single bit of trash the entire time. The bridges are amazing and very nice. Pocatello is a gem for things like this and it's nice to explore a trail so nicely put together.

This hike is so pretty and not hard at all! It was super snowy today (October 8) but extremely beautiful and enjoyable. I will definitely be doing it again and look forward to trying it in the spring.

Beautiful trail. Especially in the fall with the leaves changing colors. First section on the city creek trail really awesome colors. The upper portion, the loop, has good views of Pocatello.

Lots of runners on lower trail, and a handful of MTB on upper. BTW would recommend for xcountry riding.
