awesome trail with beautiful view on top. definitely recommended.

This is a challenging but wonderful hike. Our GPS Garmin watch listed it as about 10 mi round trip, so be prepared for more than 8.3 miles. There were tons of wild blueberries all along the top portion.

Great hike! was apprehensive to do old trail....but we made it in 3 hours and would gladly do the old trail again on the way up. Took the new trail on the way down... very well groomed but long. But was a knee saver. Well worth it and would do it again.

Didn’t make it far, detoured. But was a nice hike while it lasted.

A moderately difficult hike in a lush, dense beautiful forest. The trees provided plenty of shade that made the hike all the more pleasant! Make sure to bring plenty of water since there is no refill station!

Read a lot of reviews mentioning how tough the hike is beforehand and pretty sure it is! The views om the top tho are totally worth it. Took the new trail up and down, around 3.5 hrs up and 2 hrs down. I'm pretty sure I was one of the slower people on the trail so if you're a regular hiker then should be around 2.5 hrs up. Couldn't see Mt Rainier today but even then the views make up for it. The last one mile on rocks is tough, be prepared for it. Would definitely recommend it if you're up for a challenge

Challenging Hike. Extremely Rewarding.

My Friends texted me saying they wanted to go hiking, so naturally I thought hell yeah!

Personally, I was not expecting this hike to be so brutal. :')

By the time I reached the top I was crawling on my hands, all the muscles in my legs were shutting down from how tense they were.

I'd highly recommend taking breaks.

In conclusion, one of my most memorable hikes. You will run into amazing people who all share an affinity for nature and being outdoors. Bring trinkets, stickers that you can place on/in the Mailbox.

Grate hiking, nice place and fresh air.

Toughest one that I have hiked in this area so far. We did the old trail up and new trail down. 2.5 going up and little less going back down. Old trail is boring, it goes on forever 5+ miles but definitely beats your leg muscles. Next time I am just doing old trail up and down. I hiked couple of days ago and my calf muscles can still feel the pain, totally worth it though. I want to do this once a year at a minimum. The views up top are amazing. Wish I had spent more time at the top. Next time.

Great hike close to Seattle. Rocky but well maintained trail. Fun to watch the paragliders at the top on a sunny day. You will have lots of company.

This is a long, steep, hard hike. Your legs will burn so bad, it’s great :) Views at the top are really the only ones you will worth capturing. The new trail is easier but longer so most will spend a good amount of their day on the mountain. The parking lots fill fast and street parking fills as well. On the plus side there are no bugs. If you’re training this is a great hike to go up the old trail and run down the new trail, then repeat. I post photos of my hiking adventures on instagram under “adventuringKR”.

We had a few friends visiting out of town and brought them out camping for the weekend. We wanted to hike somewhere near our campsite which was right off mountain loop highway.

We knew we were doing a hard hike but it sure did kick out butt. The view is 100% worth it though. There are endless switchbacks so makes sure those leg muscles are ready to work.

There are huckleberries along the way and a few view points of the near mountains. Bring a lot of water and plenty of snacks to enjoy the hike.

Great workout, prepare to climb, climb, climb! I love this one for the ease of accessibility and crowds. I would definitely feel safe hiking this one alone and it’s also a great hike to bring out of town visitors on as it’s challenging and yet still doable, and has great payoff with beautiful views.

Amazing hike! Took the new trail up and old trail down extremely worth it!

Beautiful trail and an amazing hike just 40 min from Seattle. Panoramic view from the top is gorgeous. My GPS had us at 10 miles for the round trip from the parking lot. We moved and reached the mailbox in 2:20 hours up and 2 hours down. Enjoy-

Hike was great. Road to trailhead, 7 miles gravel but not too many pot holes. Only one on trail. Tons of mosquitoes (bring spray!). Bit through clothes, ugh! Trail says 7.9 miles, we clocked 10+. Spada lake is gorgeous. Grieder lakes were beautiful & hiked to big greider. Trek poles for the 40 switchbacks. More of a moderate hike.

Great day hike near the city

The hike was very enjoyable. Nice trail and not very busy for a Sunday hike. We did spot a mama black bear and at least one cub foraging in the brush. We reported to authorities and others on the trail. If you are a trail runner consider this!

Love this hike, definitely a climb but so worth the view. Got up early and did it at sunrise, there was still a layer of fog on the water and the ship-man it made for a beautiful hike. It’s a challenge but a goody. Parking is limited so I recommend getting there early!

Been there on 2018/06/02. Very good hike. Lot of crowd. Paragliding at the same point. Near to Issaquah Front street. Has a designated parking lot but small. I would go there again.

Beautiful hike today. Trail is in great condition. No water sources along the trail so be sure to bring enough.

parking wasn't bad. the trail was fairly easy at the beginning. starts to get a slight incline a bit later but overall was an easy and relaxing hike. The way back is worse though because its mostly up hill. Seeing the old kiln is cool and if you hike past that for a mile is the river which you can eventually go down to if you want. The path to the river is a bit narrow so be careful. I'd go again. I went during the week in the early afternoon.

I went on this hike twice. It has a nice view and you could see people jumping off for paragliding. The trail is well marked and easy to find your way to the top. There’s an incline most of the way to the top but the incline isn’t steep. This is a good beginners hike and the views are definitely worth it.

great trail for beginners with amazing views

total great! my first hike in Washington state

excelente montaña mucha adrenalina

great training hike.
From Chuckanut it is much more difficult than from the upper parking lot or from the parking lot at barrel springs road.
great view from the top.
