Had no idea there was still this much snow and would be so few people. only saw 2 people on the whole trail. had thought this was heavily traveled and never been to the area so went in hiking boots and sneakers. some parts of the trail leading to the lake were a foot or two deep if you step in the wrong spot. up at the lake you might drop 3 or 4. luckily someone had snow shoed before us so we tried to use their tracks but it was very slow going and lots of falling through. very hard to find the trail around the lake, which is still frozen over and covered in snow. it was surprisingly challenging with trekking through such deep snow.

this place was absolutely mind blowing though and so serene without anyone else around. best hike ever.

also note you need to park at snow bowl and walk half a mile on the fairly dangerous highway.

I did this hike a year ago and it was a good one. Beautiful, challenging and well kept. There seems to be snow into spring so dress accordingly, I had to learn the hard way with this hike but it was well worth it! Make sure you are in good shape to finish this hike so you can finish it in a timely manner!

This hike was amazing! I did it this past weekend and didn’t need spikes or snow shoes (the snow was packed down enough). Got super sunburnt on my face so wear sunscreen!

on Mount Si Trail

Beautiful! Lots of snow at the top today. Glad I brought my spikes.

Light rain the whole time. Well marked trail, friendly folks and close enough to the city to get an aggressive training hike.

Beautiful hidden hike. Took longer than I thought to get to the trailhead but was totally worth it! Good hike if you’re headed to the beach

The trail was great! It was muddy like other people said but we live where we live and it didn’t hinder the hike at all. No obstacles on trail and well maintained. So glad this beauty is open! If you want the solitude then take the upper falls hike loop. I had it all to myself this morning and I started late.

absolutely amazing, pretty grueling at the very end, but absolutely worth it

A great challenge and beautiful view! I did not need crampons at the top after Monday’s sunny day it was mostly melted and slushy.

This trail is another awesome hidden gem. The trail itself is fairly easy to moderate at points, as it had some downed trees and bush across the path. I hiked the weekend of the windstorm in April 2018. The suspension bridge was great, I was expecting more movement, but it only had slight bobbing with only me on it. Very sturdy and well built, with a perfect view of the gorge and falls below. Keep going down the trail after crossing, as it switches back down towards the falls for a front row view. Very powerful, and pools were filled and raging at this time of year. Hike back is all up hill, but not bad at all. I had the place to myself early, but passed many people coming down on my way back up.

Awesome hike! We had a pretty warm day yesterday and a lot of the snow melted at the top. I put my spikes on to walk 20 feet then took them off. Stay on the pinestraw and you're all set, the spikes were over kill IMO.

Went during the snowstorm; bring your spikes or you won’t get too far! Lake was still covered in snow and not very visible, but really pretty nonetheless. Definitely worth the hike up.

Attempted this 3 times and only made it to the top once. The last bit is insane.

Excellent hike! My bootie raised two inches this day. Be sure to wear spikes there is still ice and snow at the summit

Ok so this review is for those that are not local or are used to hiking in snow. I am from Florida so while hiking isn’t new doing it in snow is.

First all the info on this site was really great. When I read the comments like “some snow and ice” and maybe wear “ice spikes”. I vastly under estimated things.

I did buy snow spikes but I had no idea how to get the right size or how to put them on.. so off I went without them.

BAD MISTAKE... the first of many

I started the trail and there “some” snow but not to bad and I did have a walking stick so all was well... until....it was a pure snow/ice trail and not even really a trail once you get up a ways.. just other people’s foot prints you are following

Not having the spikes made it hell and yes this is rated “hard “ for a reason it is always going up.

But about a mile from the top I literally was stopping every 100 yards or so needing to catch my breath and I am in pretty good shape. It was (1) walking uphill in the snow with no spikes and (2h failing to realize that coming from Florida to this elevation in Utah and then walking up a mountain was overwhelming me because I was t acclimated we all (had been in Utah less than 24 hours .

But... I made it in about 2 1/2 hours and let me tell you the view was breathtaking. What an incredible experience.

I meet some locals who were super friendly and we chatted awhile and he offered me an extra pair of spikes he had... I figured going down would be easy so I said no. Bad mistake #2

It’s as steep going down as going up and so I was literally sliding through the ice and fell hard a dozen or so times. But made it down in 2 hours.

So I wasn’t as prepared as I needed to be but getting to the stop was worth it.

So... WEAR SNOW SPIKES

Very crowded. Nice hike.

Great view all around. It took as like 1:40 to the top and 40 minutes back. Snow is splashy and could still use spikes for better grabbing if you have one.

Great sunrise hike or afternoon hike. Crowded.

Easy out and back trail. Was surprisingly busy for a middle of the week... was spring break for some, just not Oregon. Good views. Well maintained.

Good family hike (youngest is 10) with a great payoff at the end. Only reason not 5 stars is that the trail had large sections of mud throughout. Not a big deal but it forced us to look down at our feet and not at the spectacular surroundings.

Nice hike. Kids liked the falls. Good workout. Really far out while driving. You think maybe you've missed it. Keep going. Worth the drive.

Did this hike on a whim. It was pouring rain and slippery on the rocks, but it was nice because everyone else was headed back. When I got to the pool, it literally took my breath away. This was a favorite and the pictures just don't do justice. The entire trail was so peaceful, lush and green- even without the pool it is worth it!

Beautiful views on the way up and at the top. It was a little snowy towards the top and I fell a few times when hiking down but no serious injuries sustained! Lol. I’ll wear hiking boots next time. Easy, fun, beautiful hike.

Amazing view. Truly amazing. Hike was steep, but pretty. The destination is definitely worth going for.

Awesome hike. It was a challenge but i made it. I took my time and lots of breaks. There was still snow, but I didn't need any snow snow shoes. I just used spikes and sometimes I used my trekking poles. Nice views at the top.

Easy hike. Definitely worth seeing the bridge and falls. Plan to do again soon.

It was sunny today, but there were a lot of people on this trail for a Monday. This is about as difficult as my family can handle for now. Great view at the top.

trail was packed. quite the hike up on a hot day. nice views at the top.
