Awesome place to take friends and family

Did this yesterday, September 19, 2018. Great experience. The scree at the top was easy since it was wet from recent snow melt. No need for poles going up, but would have been useful for the down trip. Up in 4.5 gours, down in 2. Beautiful weather at summit...sun and no wind but clouds to the south, spent and hour up there which I hear us unusual.

I did this hike last weekend while visiting for a race and it was absolutely beautiful. The climb is steep in areas but well worth the view of the lake at the top! It took us about 4 hours and that included stops for pictures and hanging out around the lake soaking in all the views! So glad I did this hike while visiting, it was especially magical with the fall colors!

great hike to mirror lake but of you are going to go that far take the Tom dick and Harry trail all the way to the top and get views of five peaks at the same time( hood, Jefferson, Rainer, St Helen's, Adams) such an amazing view.

Absolutely breathtaking hike with a HUGE payoff.
Unfortunately I lost a wedding band somewhere on the hike between the lake and the parking lot on September 11th. It would have been in a red silk zipper bag. Please please please let there be a good person in the world!

Great, well defined trail. Spectacular views of Crater Lake. It was challenging due to the elevation but there were plenty of view points to stop and rest. We did this in September and the weather was clear and cool. Highly recommend this trail!

Steep as hell but very rewarding. Lake Blanche is breathtaking and there are two more lakes with a gorgeous backdrop within a few hundred yards. About half the trail is shaded, the water level of the lake is super low in the fall so you can walk around the whole thing pretty quickly.

hey was a nice beautiful hike today. This is definitely a hard level hike. Don't let anybody fool you thinking this is an intermediate hike you need to be in good shape and be ready to rock. Definitely bring good shoes as there is a lot of rocks and this Trail has a steady incline and will test your Fitness level.

Good hike. Unfortunately when we were there the smoke was blocking the views of Mt. Hood. The lake is beautiful however and it was warm enough to jump in and swim. Really easy hike as well. Follow all our adventures on Instagram @themicrotourists.

First three miles are a climb at about a twelve to fifteen percent grade, scramble starts on the last mile, the last seventy feet are the climb and if you're lucky and there's a ripe someone who's climbing it that day lets you use, you're in luck. Best hike of my life. Tough. But so good. Bring layers and something for your skin for the windburn! Last mile is exposure central!

Wonderful trip! Did this as a 4-day backpacking trip with my wife in August of 2017. Breathtaking views, wildflowers, historic shelters, and snow fields. This hike has a little bit of everything. If your itinerary allows, camp at Dollar Lake on the north side of the mountain. It’s a short climb from the main trail, but has excellent campsites, a beautiful view of the mountain, and a nice place for a swim or washing clothes. Water crossings vary significantly with temperature and rainfall. Sandy, Coe, and Elliott were the most challenging for us. It’s a fantastic and challenging hike.

Great, easy, dog friendly hike. The view of the lake is beautiful, if you can tolerate the crowd. The trail is in excellent condition and there’s plenty of parking at the trailhead.

Absolutely STUNNING views of Crater Lake and the surrounding mountains. Moderately challenging and the payoff is well worth it.

Completely breathtaking scenery. After hiking mount Olympus this was a piece of cake. I think it should be rated as moderate.

It’s a hard road throughout hiking. It was a challenging rather than enjoying the scenery nature offers like other hiking b/c up/ down hills hurt feet a lot. I felt I go through a hardship but resting and majestic scenery on the top after a long hard walking makes all of hardship worthy and grateful to survive from it and appreciate the beauty of nature!

It’s a pretty steep and rocky trail but a beautiful hike. I wish I had worn shoes with more ankle support. It was a little longer than anticipated but it is something you can spend the day on.

Super hike/climb.
The boulder field was a lot of fun.
The ash was fustrating.

Amazing views of the lake all the way up.

It was beautiful and refreshing standing on the back of the fall!!!

Road from Crecent Lake to Summit Lake trailhead REQUIRES high clearance 4WD vehicle.

The perfect hike. So many beautiful views and the trail was fun. We went in mid September and the weather was amazing. It took us about 2 hours, which included lots of stops for photos and taking in the scenery.

I take issue with the AllTrails description saying that it is near the Klamath River, it is not. The closest river would be the Deschutes.

If you leave from the Broken Top TH (not Todd Lake) you’ll want a high clearance vehicle that you don’t mind beating up.

That said, Broken Top, the Bend Glacier and the amazing lake is by far the most rewarding hike in Central Oregon.

So beautiful but for sure a doozy! Comparable to Squaw Peak if you’ve done that hike. Loved the views!

Worth the struggle

Nice hike and a decent view. But I hope you enjoy sharing the trail.

This is a very popular trail. And for good reason.

Let’s be clear and say that leaving your orange peels, pistachio shells, and Cheerios is not Leave No Trace. Please plan ahead or put that stuff in your backpack!

On a positive note, it was a fun hike that takes about an hour and a half each direction at a quick pace.

Hard, steep but the view is worth it. The incline is almost throughout the whole trail. There are benches to sit at 2-3 places along the trail.

great hike up. good workout. did it with my 12 yr old son. he only complained minimally. view is absolutely gorgeous. will be doing this one again.
