beautiful, although short. make sure to get your visitors permit (the gas station sells it) as you can't buy it at the trailhead.

FR 2480 was closed with gate and sign 4.5 miles in. Make sure you call ahead to see if open.

Just putting 3 star to be able to leave a comment.

Short, rigorous hike up. Worth it though as there are beautiful views at the top.

Nice hike with good view!

Nice hike with a little variety. No major views except the river and the forest- which was very pleasant. Lots of different mushrooms were in bloom on the mid October Friday hike I did. Only saw 3 people and 3 dogs the entire trip. Stopped at Camp Jolley for a rest and a lunch. Nice hike and a good workout.

This was a great hike. Well maintained. Disappointed about the fog but an added bonus to have the ability to drive to see the view! Fog burned off on the way down, so we drove over and enjoyed the scenery!

Lovely, well maintained trail easy enough for all levels including beginners. It follows a river. If the lovely couple who graciously loaned me her shoes and his socks because I left my boots at home see this, please contact me so I can return your things. You took down my number but would not give me yours. You live in the Olalla area. I am an honest person and want to return your boots and socks.

First trail I drove my Jeep up. It was easy drive and the view was amazing!

loved it

Hiked the Sand Point trail as an out and back. Wanted to do the entire loop but it was raining pretty heavily, high tide had come in and the presence of a mama bear and her cubs down the beach where we were going to go also made us reconsider. No matter. This trail is absolutely gorgeous and has everything. Majestic forests with towering trees, ferns blanketing the forest floor, ocean views. It is an extremely easy trail as it is an improved path and/or boardwalks all throughout. In the rain though, the boardwalk gets slick so use caution when walking (I even fell once walking slightly too fast). We definitely want to come back and do the Cape Alava Trail and then explore the beach at low tide. It’s kind of hard to get to as the roads are windy and there’s pretty much nothing else out that way but I recommend anyone to make the special trip.

Awesome trail. One of my favorites in Washington.. last trip we took the Sandpoint trail and then headed south along the beach towards yellow Banks and spent two nights there. When planning on hiking down the beach (past the end of sandpoint trail) be sure to check the tides, or two of the point roundabouts can be tough crossings (wet feet?)

Backpacked out here on 10/26, hiked in on the Cape Alava trail, then South along the beach. This is much easier to do at low tide! Be aware as of that day there is a mother black bear with two cubs who doesn't seem to be terribly afraid of humans. It's a beautiful flat trail with wonderful views of rock formations and the opportunity to see Petroglyphs. I'll definitely be back.

My husband, dog and I enjoyed this trail today. A few cars at the trail head when we arrived at 11:00. Beautiful walk through the woods, high above the river for most of the way. There are two bridges crossing the river, at the second one you're able to get down to the river and there's a nice spot to enjoy lunch and for the dog to swim. We didn't go all the way to the Notch Pass junction, but I think it's just a few minutes beyond the second bridge. More people coming up the trail when we headed down, and most of them had dogs. Very enjoyable, not difficult, day hike!

Beautiful, romantic scenery. Great place to watch the sunset. Nice walk. The hike in is a bit easier and flatter than the one leading to Cape Alava but similarly constructed.

Intense elevation gain but a good length and the views are beautiful. Saw lots of dogs!

This short little path was rather popular with the tourists on the day that I visited. But the nice view at the end was worth putting up with the crowds.

The middle section of this spectacular trail hugs the coastline and is dotted with hundreds of tide pools. There’s so much to explore that the hike ended up taking longer than anticipated.

Beautiful peaceful walk to take with my dog! Great find!

This was my 2nd hike ever, loved the bridges and stone stairs. Absolutely gorgeous

Pretty easy trail, but does have a couple steep hills. Lots of horse droppings and a couple of muddy spots. The weather was 60 and sunny. The views from the beach were amazing. Our hike totaled 5.9 miles walking the diamond point trail in and out.

This was an excellent trail, clear path. Probably will do it again soon.

Beautiful, wide sandy beach. Amazing sunsets. Lots of seagulls. Easy, flat 3 mile boardwalk trail in.

Hiked to Camp Alava this August in the late afternoon and found a spot at the very end of the camping area. Pretty crowded. The trail itself was super friendly with the boardwalks and easy terrain. Day 2 I hiked to Sand Point. Camped early and enjoyed the beach for most of the day. This part of the trail, along the coast, I had to watch my step a little more, over rocks, driftwood and tide pools. Day 3 was a quick hike back on the other boardwalk. Beautiful and satisfying hike.

A nice trail with some good uphill and technical terrain. Combined with Maple Valley Trail and Rhody Shortcut you can create a nice challenging run.
