Ok, I blasted another hiker with bear spray on this trail today. I don't know if you (hiker) will ever use this app but if you ever do, you will know this is your unique experience on this trail and this msg is for you. I'm so sorry! I had just tested my can as it had been in storage and had not yet replaced the safety. My finger was still on the trigger when you approached around that blind corner. I apologize immensely! BTW, since you didn't know what it was that I sprayed when I yelled "hold your breath and run down", you might look into carrying some on future hikes since you were alone and making no noise. Again, I'm really sorry I blasted you. At least you were almost to the end of the trail. :0

Trail was beautiful and somewhat challenging. Excellent views and sometimes a bit mysterious as there are a lot of bends in the trail. Great trail for experienced mountain bikers too. I'll do it again for sure.

Sorry again to the lady I bear maced...

Cougar Crest trail was closed so I decided to take this trail and had a great time. It’s not to steep and would probably be great for a family with kids.

It took me an hour and a half to get up and 45 minutes down but I’m probably an above average hiker when it comes to speed. 4 hours set aside would probably be best especially if you want to take it the amazing view about 500 feet after the sign for the Point.

I’ve easy trail and enjoyed the interpretive aspect.

Super easy stroll. We did it as a night hike with headlamps and flashlights. Added to the adventure.

Don’t be misled by the short distance. It’s a steep uphill climb...sometimes up to 35 degree incline...steep all the way and rocky. It’s not too bad cuz it’s short, but it’s a nice little challenging hike.

One of my favorite big bear hikes. Done it in the summer, spring, fall and winter. Always great. Not super easy, but not very hard.
Great view at the top.

We did several trails this weekend. This and Bertha peak are pretty close to each other. I think this is harder than Bertha. It’s a pretty lengthy steep climb for about the second half going up. I got pretty winded. Still a great hike. I had done it once before and will do it again. Great view from the top.

We took a wrong turn and turned it into an 8.2 miler...but still I think 6.8 is short. I think it’s more like 7.5.
Great hike. Very easy until the last mile which is a very steep uphill climb on a fire road. Beautiful view from the top.
For me, even though it’s longer, it seemed easier than the Gray’s Peak trail.

Great little loop trail.

Easy short hike. You need to climb some rocks for better views - that can be fun :) parking spot is small and you need to cross the road, so be carefull. we've collected a lot of trash after other people on that trail that day.

Nice gradual ascent in the pines.Beautiful autumn colors.

Nice hike most of the way until the end where it becomes a very steep fire road. When you get to the top it is a very pretty view but not much room as if it covered with radio towers. Not quite the peaceful peak we had imagined. But there are some small trees so we hung the hammock and made the best of it watching a beautiful sunset.

Nice trail. Started at Serrano camp ground. There is a tunnel under the road to the trail head. Nice view over valley after first couple miles. last turn to peak steep rocky access road. view from top worth the climb.

easy hike. great views from the top to the lake. you will have to climb up rocks if you want the nice views. parking is scarce, be careful crossing the highway.

Pleasantly surprised to see fall colored trees. Beautiful views. Started around 3pm so got caught up in the dark on the way back which made the hike even more fun. Not strenuous at all and Grand View was peaceful and grand. Highly recommended if your looking for a short beautiful hike.

Great trail, gorgeous views. Can be a bit difficult if you’re not used to the altitude, or a bit out of shape.

It’s a bit difficult for new players and you need good hiking shoes. The trail has clear signs showing right direction. The view is beautiful and different during the trail. It took like 4 hours to out and back.

A little steep at some points but lots of shade throughout the trail and quite a few resting spots. The rocks are great for climbing and provide a gorgeous view of the lake.

This is a strong hike, including the lower loop option in my track. The eastern leg of the loop (Pine Knot Trail) has no double track, while "my" western leg of the loop is about 50% good double track. The things that make the "western leg" of the loop strong are the following: the single track portions are really great and the trail making very imaginative for both hikers and bikers. The best lake views were from the "western leg" of the loop. Also note that the Alltrails suggested track as of this date does not go all the way to Grandview Point. The view at the point is one of the best views of the Santa Ana River Valley that I know of.

Great hike - well maintained and generally well marked trail (tho the All Trails app was definitively helpful); gorgeous views along the way, nice diversity of plants trees rocks and bushes. We had a bald eagle soaring above us for a while which was awesome. Took us 2 hrs to the top and maybe 1:40 back. Nice mix of sun and shade for us. You need an Adventure Pass to park which costs $5 and is available just a mile up the road at the Fawnskin Market. Highly recommended hike.

A nice hike. Great location good for photos

Nice trail! Relatively quiet, but that probably has to do with off peak season. Easy trail with some ups and downs and nice views. The fir and pine trees also smell also smell amazing.

Definitely not an easy hike but it is do-able if you take your time. Towards the end you have to do a little ‘rock climbing’ to get to the top of castle rock but the view is well worth it! I found a long hiking stick up there and it helped me be stable while coming back down. I got a little lost coming down like some people said because the trail isn’t marked well but if something looks like a path it should take you back down. Hopefully haha

Hiked this trail today with my 4 yr. old daughter, wife, and parents. Decent trail for beginners and great scenery. We only saw two people in the trail which was expected since it's a Tuesday. We also ran into a rattlesnake along the path so keep an eye out! Had a great time overall. Highly recommend if staying in Big Bear.

It’s a shame loved this place as a child now the only people that would go there must love broken bottles and dirty diapers

Good hike! The beginning it starts off pretty steep but levels out (yet still climbing up) towards the middle. Around this area it opens up a bit, and it’s not marked great for directions, but no to hard to figure out how to get back on trail! Beautiful view at the top of castle rock :)
