Trail closed due to fires right now

Not very challenging, but do not underestimate the stairs. My buddy was dying on the way back.

Kind of hard to find the entrance. A lot of interesting graffiti everywhere. Very green right now.

Nice moderate hike, some cool places on the way

Well maintained dirt road, easy to park and find trail head, wide trail and when you get to the last 1/3 where the rock trail begins the terraine gets more challemging but we saw a 4 yr old doing it so really not hard at all. Great trail day!

was looking forward to the trial but it was closed today 11/01/18

Believe it or not the graffiti (an the unique graffiti house at the bottom of the trail) is the highlight of this trail. Make sure you do the loop clockwise. There is a gate (more like a break in the fence) to the left just at the beginning of the loop. Go through this gate a walk down lots of steep steps. Make a left at the bottom of the steps to continue along the trail. If you choose to do the loop in a counter clockwise fashion you may have trouble finding the steps to go back up (the entrance was not so clear and you have to climb up a ton of very steep stairs. I would definitely recommend doing the loop clockwise.

WARNING The entrance of the loop (not the starting of the whole route) is not obviously and can be easily missed!

I thought if I kept walking on the paved road I would eventually go into the loop and loop back, but that didn’t happen. Not until I walked 4 miles did I realized I was probably off the track because the while trail suppers to be 3.4 mile and I haven’t seen repeated scene.

When I walked back in darkness, I checked the map and saw two open parts on the fences under my flashlight, and there were staircases going down. I suppose that’s the loop... it’s really not obvious and clear, I’d suggest everyone to check their map if it’s their first time here, and maybe read the graffiti on road, though there were also misleading ones like “truck —>” and pointed to the cliff.

Other than that, it’s a easy, mostly-paved route, and the scenery is amazing!

I did this one again. Only did A free miles. Took my dog (older). So I cut it short. Will do the full hike next visit.

First few miles are flat and kind of boring the last 1.5 is where the fun starts. Took my dog. Just a few spots she needed to be lifted to help her up or down. Not sure I would take a dog I couldn’t carry but I did see a few people with bigger dogs so they must have found a way around the bigger rocks. Fun trail even though the water wasn’t flowing.

Hike this trail up to the Blackstar canyons sign and then walked back to parking lot. This is a very dusty walk your shoes will come back brown. best to do it after a rain fall when it’s not as dusty. It’s mostly a dirt road so it’s not that hard until you get to where the falls are and then you have to do some off hiking and climbing over boulders. All uphill hiking , bring good shoes you don’t mind getting dirty and lots of water. You’ll see peacocks on your way up there and cross 2 bridges. 24hr trail. In summer watch out for snakes on dirt road.

Loved it!! Such an amazing peaceful place

Closed on the weekdays for construction

It is a good hike overall, but not great. The length is recorded more of a 3.8 mile hike.

Initial descent is steep and on a road for the first 3/4 mile. From there it’s dirt roads/trails.

Several other hikers along the trail, one of which warned of a rattle snake ahead on the trail.

Unfortunately we got to the end and there was no water at the falls. Definitely a disappointment, but just no rain recently to provide the spectacle.

This is your go-to family friendly hike. Be sure to arrive early as parking spots fill up quickly. (I suggest arriving around 8 am unless you want to hike to the trailhead) You will need an Adventure pass. You could purchase a day permit near the trailhead for 5 dollars, make sure you have it in cash. Have fun!

Love this hike when there is running water to walk in and two beautiful waterfalls (one you can climb up to the top of in to a little cave) it rained yesterday. Does anyone know if it was enough rain for a waterfall?

I believe moderate/difficult/intense is a good level describing this trail. Only reason why i’d go pretty high is because the second half is where you’re going up the river bed. and that means your climbing up boulders. No doubt you’re gonna get dirty when it’s raining. Today was raining after a quick thunderstorm the night before, but there wasn’t any running water. Kind of anti-climatic, but i’d like to go back when there’s running water. the way back is a lot easier, and if you’d like, you’ll be sliding down rocks and jumping from 4-5 feet. good boots or similar would be needed because of all the gravel and river bed rocks. The sad thing is that many boulders and rocks are tagged and some are inappropriate.

I take everyone here!!!
It has it all! The drive to the parking lots has spectacular views as well! The hike is dog and family friendly and is @ 3 miles. The trail is an ADVENTURE! Starts on pavement and views of the hills and valley then heads into the woods! Lots of cover and the trail moves along the waterway and crosses it a few times, so be careful with your footing over wet rocks! And the payoff is a gorgeous WATERFALL!!!!!
And now that we're getting some rain, finally, even better!
This hike never gets old!!!
ENJOY!!!

I’ve done this trail many times and up to the Indian Village. Amazing views!

If you ever want to hike, get a small work out and explore? this is the place to be. Murphy's ranch and all it's history, you will find a cool trail that will lead you to a gate fance. you can either go down the stairs to the broken road, make a left and just follow the loop all the way around the site. 2 miles of wonderful views !
I recommend this hike at night time.
I did it last night with my group.

Great workout and trail. It gets pretty tough.

If you catch someone doing graffiti on rocks please let them know they're not welcome.

There was a bit of construction going on near the entrance of the trail since there are new houses being built, but the hike is really worth it. Lots of interesting scenery and without a doubt, that all the abandoned houses will have graffiti on them. Only thing I wished to see more was some trail markers, me and my friend had to go by trying to find spray painted arrows to try and find out where we wanted to go.

Busy trail for weekend warriors looking for a nice climb. Parking lot gets full by 7am so you will see cars parked on the road on the way up. Trail is easy to follow and the falls are underwhelming thanks to the dry So Cal summer.

Took our kids yesterday and it was a great hike! There’s some type of bridge at the very top of the mountain. We didn’t hike that far but looks cool!

No water at the falls but still a great hike, definitely a work out though once you get to the rocks. I've been here before when there is water and it is amazing, will be coming back but probably after some rain.

I remember this hike from earlier this year. I'd say it's more of a hike than a running trail..

One of my favorites!
