Great hike. First 2.5 miles is along a dirt road with little to no shade. Not overwhelmingly exciting. When you get to around 3 miles in, the fun starts. Its hiking through thickish bush and concluding with a bit of light climbing uphill. In August the waterfall is more of a rockface, but it's a cool little area to relax nonetheless. I'd definitely do this one again

it was a fun hike but there were a lot of yellow jackets

the trail was great not much water but still a great view and great pictures. but like everyone says the last part of the hike is all up hill to get back to your car so defiantly prepare for a work out

Nice day hike. Wasn’t much water at the waterfall but did find a garden snake and turtle there.

To get to this trail hard you have to walk 2.5 miles down a fire road. It is flat and easy. Once hitting the trail head it is a 1 mike hike up to the falls. Mostly light bouldering. This is where it earns its rating.

great hike, shaded most of the time, beginning isn't as shaded. wear good hiking shoes lots of rocks. It definitely is a better hike when water is running but still a good workout.

Hiked to the Old Indian Village. A fun hike!

The waterfall itself is currently a trickle ending in a small pool. It’s still pretty. The hike to get to it was lovely, very green, lots of shady trees. Like folks have already mentioned that last half mile back up to the parking lot is rough and exposed. Almost no shade. Be prepared to sweat and get a good thigh workout. Also watch out for the gnats that follow you all the way through the hike. They wouldn’t let up!

Great hike...

Given the heat and lack of rain lately, the waterfalls were more of a faucet left on by accident. Still, would come again because of the hike to the falls. Shaded and beautiful.

As others have said, the first half mile or so from the parking lot, on the paved road, is a doozy. Be prepared to work to get back to your car.

Come early, bring a lot of water and yes, bring bug spray.

The first part is a bit difficult on the way back. Other than that it’s a beautiful trail.

nice easy loop. some sections were closed for fire recovery. I took my dog and had a good back pack in and out. even with closures it was easy to navigate around.

a great beginner hike!

I'll do this trail again when there's actual water in the creek/waterfall.

Once you get into the creek, the hike is more challenging and much more interesting. The climb back into the falls is the toughest and most satisfying part! This hike isn't the easiest, so make sure you're ready for it, and take lots of water with you.

Overall I enjoyed this trail and would do it again. I did this trail in the summer so there was no waterfall at the end but the place where it would be is still pretty cool. The trail is easy for most of the path and gets moderate towards the end. You follow along a paved/dirt road for probably 2 miles and then you find the trail head. From there you follow along a riverbed for about a mile and a half. The last 1/2 mile of trail is alot of bouldering with quite a bit of incline.

Bring lots of water, I brought 2 liters and ran out about a mile from the parking area.

Beautiful trail, easy once you’re off the paved portion, the paved area is very steep so it had a a level of difficulty to the trail in the way back. Lot’s of cottages along the path that make this the enchanted forest. Decent size swimming hole and waterfall at the end. An enjoyable hike. Many trails off this one, not always clear on the descriptions which trail they are referring to.

This was a very nice trail. Would rate as easy-moderate. Definitely would suggest exploring each little treasure around during the hike. Adds more time but the graffiti art is very pretty.

Entrance is at the end of a construction road past a yellow gate once you leave the residential area. You’ll walk until you hit a fork- to the left there is a gate entrance and to the right is more paved road. Both loop around & bring you back to the beginning of the fork.
If you want a good butt workout, I would suggest going to the right. The end (left gate entrance) is a long flight of stairs that will definitely tire you out.

Awesome cute trail , can be difficult every once in a while but over all a really calm hike !

Nice place to visit beautiful easy trail
The trail itself is pretty clear and easy to hike
Be prepared to pay for parking (ticket otherwise) you need some sort of pass -
Equestrians do not visit during the weekend there will be no parking for trailers -go during the week -
There are TONS of poison oak but trails are pretty clear (so stay on it ) bring bug spray - the only down side was it’s VERY rocky for horses towards the end closer to falls -fine for hikers just be careful if you have equine friends joining -will definitely be returning with my pup for a good hike the scenery and sound of the running stream is nice .

Not the most spectacular falls in the San Gabriels (especially in the summer), but well worth the drive. The creekside trail is mostly shaded and passes come quaint cabins from the early 1900s. However, the first half mile or so down to Roberts camp is on a paved, unshaded road with about a 12% grade, all uphill on the way back, so plan accordingly.

Pretty easy hike, until the hike out. This weekend was super hot so it was rough. Bring plenty of water and take rests.
My doggy was tuckered

Great hike! Don’t forget your insect repellent!

Many of the trails closed for wildfire recovery. Awesome trail. My family enjoyed it a lot. We will go many more times when all trails opened

Love this trail but gotta go after a heavy rain to see the waterfall in all its glory...and it’s a long hike take plenty of water and good comfortable shoes a lot of climbing over rocks

Awesome hike if you don't mind climbing over and under rocks and fallen trees. I was really beautiful . You should go early in the morning because it gets really hot. The end was where the water fall is supposed to be. It was a very nice adventure and I do recommend.

Great morning hike to the Waterfall. Going down is easy, but going up is a bit challenging.

Long way on a paved road to the BOULDERS. Never seen such big ones! Fun climbing, jumping, slipping on our bottoms.
Missed the top, ran out of time. Will be back!

No waterfall in the summer when we went and the barren waterfall smelled like sulphur.

However, I will say that the bouldering was really fun and made up for the non-existent waterfall.

Trash on the trail, graffiti on the rocks, and 2+ miles of fire road before you get to the real trail.
