Beautiful views and waterfalls! The trail was tough to follow at a couple spots. watch for logs and rocks that help guide you. We started about 8:30 am. By the time we were heading down it had gotten pretty crowded, but the way up was peaceful.

A nice drive, with an emphasis on “drive”.

If you’re looking for a nice drive with okay scenery then look no further. On the contrary, if you’re hoping to off-road, there are offshoots (one of which is Holy Jim). Other than that, this is definitely an easy to moderate trail.

Granite lake is such a beautiful lake. The reflection of surrounding trees on the green-blue water was spectacular. The extra hour or so hike from granite lake to Maggie's peaks was also totally worth it because from the top, I could see Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay, Granite Lake, and two other lakes. We also saw an eagle fly upwards what we hiked for 2 hours in 10 seconds. This was overall a very impressive hike. Definitely elevation gain involved.

This hike is very beautiful with lots of trees, places near the river to rest, and of course the waterfall. The trail is poorly marked but there is a dirt path that starts from the Tahoe basin sign that first directs you into the parking lot and that leads all the way up. Lots of granite slabs to climb, and if you lose the trail, it's mostly fine as long as you aim towards the waterfall. Along the way you should pass the desolation wilderness trailhead, and that trail is fairly easy to follow.

For a continuous moderately paced hike, you can make it up to the summit in 1 hour. If you start right before 7 the mountain will shade you up until the last mile of the hike. Between 2- 1 1/2 mile point from the summit there seems to be an endless set of steps that are pretty challenging. Past the potato chip rock there is not much else and a radio station that ruins part of the view, but overall a decent hike.

I saw a coyote pup and a rabbit while hiking on the trail. Beautiful views with well maintained dirt roads. Up and down steep hills all along the way. Bring plenty of water - a great trail for running!

I’m just starting to get into the world of hiking & camping, this was the first trail on my list & I really enjoyed it! I decided to go in the late afternoon (started hiking around 5) & enjoyed really nice shady areas & beautiful views of the mountains during the second half of the hike. There’s a ton of beautiful greenery & wild flowers/plants, & also ran into a few lizards along the way. The inclines & declines are nothing to be worried about, just be prepared to take a bunch of pictures. I recommend taking the narrow road down towards the larger parking lot, as the incline up after you’re done would be a brutal trek to your car. As a beginner, this hike was nothing too difficult. I will definitely come visit this trail again soon!

Beautiful terrain that vacillated between forested shade and granite slabs to bouldering cascades at the top.

Easy and very nice. Rock, woods, very small rivers... A variety if elements to enjoy. The ride. Excellent for kids that will trigger their imagination.

很不错的一条线路,一路树荫,这个季节山下39度,山里很凉快,就是没什么水,推荐!2-3小时走完

Great hike for training. Doing Mt. Whitney in a couple of weeks and the consistent above 8K ft. helps.

It was a good work out went with a cousin it’s marked hard but don’t think it is. Over all great views, people, dogs, and bikers. Next time will take a potato with art work and leave it on top like the ones I saw by the way went during the fires witch was the obstacle the heat and air.

Beautiful views

Awesome trail, friendly people along the way just enough incline to get a good workout

It wasn't a good idea to go mid-morning this past Sunday. . .caliente! Reason being, I was waiting on someone. I make it a point to start as early as possible esp. in these excruciatingly hot summer months! It's not difficult for me. Although it's been deemed hard? I like it. The view from top is spectacular.

California has been going through a drought and this summer has been one of the hottest summers I’ve ever experienced. The waterfall has lost its heavy and pleasant flow.

Did on a hot day. Bring a lot of water! worth it for the fun potato chip rock pictures!

Best hike by far perfect not too long! Lots of beautiful views! Love it!

This hike makes you work for it. One hour up & 30 minutes down. I started before the sun and there were plenty of other friendly folks on the trail.

Beautiful views and a fun day hike. I used this hike to train and test gear for an upcoming trip to Mt Langley. It was a good moderate hike. Nothing crazy. I will go back but next time I’ll approach from Idyllwild and skip the tram. Once was enough for me. Cheers

We’re from Texas. Elevation nothing. It was a gorgeous hike! We only hiked up to the lake, about 1.25 miles. However, we hiked around the lake to the other side over the little ridge there. Offers stunning views of Lake Tahoe. Worth the hike around the lake and up a little further.

Sad because the water is gone

A challenging hike with beautiful views!!! The potato chip rock at the peak was indeed very instagram worthy..

It’s an easy hike to the sinks...definitely worth doing! Lots of other options on open access day in Limestone.

Challenging, but worth it!

Great hiking trail with multiple hills and great views of the Pacific Ocean. This is our go-to hike near our home in OC.

Great workout

This hike was fun and had great views of a waterfall and some cool rock formations, but the trail was poorly marked. We had our two-year-old in a pack with us, and some areas were a bit precarious for carrying a kid.

Much of the trail is exposed so wear a hat and bring sunscreen. Lots of loose rocks, so wear good footwear.

Overall, this hike is totally worth checking out, but with all of the cool trails in northern CA, I’m not sure I’ll do this one again.
