Awesome hike, made the trek with my 9 year son, 7 year old daughter, teen niece, and 64 year old mother and it was an all around crowd pleaser. We all found it challenging, yet very rewarding as the views were spectacular. Looking forward to do the hike thru to the North Moat Mountain.

Hiked this as an out/back from the parking lot to North Moat. The bottom 2+ is a walk in the park; the middle steps up the elevation gain, and the top 1/3 can be challenging, but the whole trip down will be challenging, if it’s wet, which it was. No other hikers were seen during the whole trip, due to less than perfect hiking weather.

Hiked orange trail up with three kids(13,11&10 yrs). This was their first real hike. it was steep enough to get a little winded and make your legs shakey but completely doable It took us a good 1hour 30 minutes to summit. Beautiful views of the lake. On the way down we took yellow trail. great hike

Our first time doing this trail with our German Shepard and Boston Terrier. Was a great hike, but definitely think your dogs need to be in good shape as our Greman Shepard wasn't. We weren't aware of the rock scrambles, so we had to lift our Shepard in a couple of spots. Great workout with great views! Would do again, just not with our out of shape dog...

Incredible views at the top.
It should be mentioned at the beginning of each review.
Not an easy hike.... uphill from the start. Not to steep, doable, and will get your heart pumping.
Couple if their 50s. Took us 4:45 with a 15 minutes break in top.
Great.

Accurately rated as easy, though there are a few steep points where old pups or people with weak knees might struggle. Beautiful lookout points. The whole loop-de-loop that AllTrails lays out here took us just under two hours, including short stops to take in the views.

Well marked, nice hike, a few nice views. A few steep parts but not too bad.

Finally got to hiking the mountain in my hometown-we went on a hot day so it was difficult with my asthma but if we’d done this hike on a fall day I’d rate it moderate. Trail starts out steep right away! But levels out as you go. We found a BUNCH of blueberries on the trail, bushes everywhere. Overall a fun hike and pretty views.

This is one of our favorites-not too far of a drive from Portland, and an easy to moderate level of difficulty. This was one of the first mountains we did, when we went back several months later and with a few more mountains under our belts, it was MUCH easier. Second time we did burnt meadow and stone mountain together, up and down and to both mountains took us about 3.5 hours. Beautiful views!!! Highly recommended.

hiked this trail with my 3 kids (ages 8-14yrs). we went up the Eagle Scout trail and the Nature Loop trail and came down the Ledges trail, it was a pretty easy hike and my kids loved the stone tower. it was a bit cloudy when we went but it still had great views. a hike i would recommend for really any age or skill level.

Very FUN!!

I very much enjoyed this trail- one of the best of the area. The varied path grades and quality keep the hike interesting and moderately challenging. The payoff was excellent- a breezy summit with excellent views. I would happily do this hike again and again.

Wonderful trail with beautiful views. It’s moderate but definitely. strenuous if you aren’t in good shape. Took my dog along. Saw a few people along the way. From Denmark road parking area it’s about 3 miles to the top. There is access from the other side of mountain that is about a mile shorter. Took about 2 1/2 hrs to reach the summit and about 1 hr 40 mins to get down. Stopped a number of times for my dog who was really struggling with the heat, and for ourselves on the way up to catch our breath. We had plenty of water. On hot humid days you will need about 3 liters of water for a person plus a dog. Trail is steep from the start until reaching about 2/3 of the way up, then there is relief as you hike the ridge. Definitely worth repeating.

This hike was awesome! It was very very difficult given the 60% humidity but, I could see a normal day being rated moderate. Took us about 4 hours with 4 pretty long breaks going up. It starts off very easy like everyone said and then gets progressively steeper. I never felt like I was really scrambling up rocks though and I often feel that way in the whites. The view up top is totally worth it so keep pushing past all the nice overlooks and areas that feel like false peaks. You get a full 360!! Would absolutely do again.

Fun walk. Short scramble at the top on they way down was a nice surprise

This is a nice trail right on the Maine/New Hampshire border, it gains a fair amount of elevation over a short distance, so it is a decent workout. The view from the tower is great, and there are several spots along the way up with very nice views. I enjoyed being able to see the White Mountains at the same time as Maine's western peaks.

The hike gets steep right from the start but that just means that you get to the great views faster. I found the views along the ridge on the way up to be just as enjoyable as the view from the top, if not even more so. This was my first time hiking alone so I was nervous about getting lost but the trail is very well marked by either yellow diamonds or cairns.

Great trail. We walked with our 7 and 5 year olds and a toddler in a carrier. It took us almost 5.5 hours as we walked super slow and made a lot of stops along the way. We lost the trail twice - near the same location on the way there and back but found the trail again quite easily. I highly recommend.

Super fun little hike. I’ve done it a few times and each time and it seems to be more fun than I remember. Just this past weekend I hiked it after a heavy rain. The run-off only added to the enjoyment. (The lack of people due to the rain certainly didn’t hurt either.) Take the dog on this one. They’ll love you for it. One very active, high strung puppy slept all the way home.

Good hike, some really good views along the way. The trails are very poorly blazed and found myself having to refer to my GPS very often which was annoying. Italian Trail would be the easier route up if you plan on doing this as a loop. I went up Italian Trail and took Shaw mountain trail down. Overall it was 7.3 miles and a very good workout.

Great hike! Took about an hour and a half to get to the summit. I would say this is a moderate hike, like others have mentioned it starts right off steep right away and then levels off for a little before the last steep trek to the summit. Had great look out points throughout the whole trip. Would recommend for a quick day hike in a beautiful area!

we went up through Brook trail(yellow) and came down on boulder loop(orange). Our way up was moderate, there were lot of water streams and small falls that actually made climb tricky as the trail got slippery at some points.

Boulder loop was one of toughest descents we have ever been to. Lots of rocks and steep climbs. I suggest carrying an extra pack of socks just in case your socks get drenched in water!

Great hike! It was rated as moderate (*I see now, 24 hours later that it’s rated as hard) and it definitely was challenging. The views from the top are amazing! The ascent was tough- took us about 2 hours and 45 minutes. It had rained a few times, so the descent was slippery, even with poles. All in all it was 6 miles round trip.

Wonderful hike! Views at the top are fabulous and worth the climb. We did it counter clockwise like others suggested and were glad we did! Much easier on the knees to do the steeper part going up. We brought our kids- age 6,8, and 11 and they did fine. Easy to moderate climb.

Amazing view, even on the second time around! Took the other side up the mountain this time, got to see the Falls, and encountered some wildlife...

Hiked with my family. Kids 12 & 8 and Dad 63. It was a tough hike. The first mile was a pretty easy smooth path. The rest of the way was pretty steep and rocky. It took us 3h 45m to reach the summit, 1h 50 min to come down. “SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE”
Views were amazing!!! Well worth it
Great day enjoying each others company!

My daughters first mountain hike. It was a great hike :)

Great day hike. Amazing views of Alton Bay and Lake Winnipesaukee

Great hike with an amazing view.

Quick up and down! Great for a hike that is moderately challenging but doesn't take long
