I hiked the Westwood Shore Trail, next time I will take the trail to the lake, so many possibilities! I ran into to some nice people along the trail! There was a good windy climb down to the beach, but it was worth it!

We did this hike on Saturday, November 8th, and it was perfect! Trail conditions were great, there was no snow or ice, and the ropes at the top were all intact. The hike itself is steep, but not that long, so if you're in any kind of decent shape, you'll be fine, just take a few breaks along the way. Absolutely stunning views at the top!

I really enjoyed this little walk to the lake. we stayed there for an hour or so, didn't see another person. It does pass by people's homes but that's didn't bother me.

pretty views and great trail for beginner to intermediate hikers

Very beautiful and unique. The waterfalls are awesome. I hiked off the trail and climbed the rocks to get to the waterfall.

way to over crowned its like the pumpkin spice latte of hiking.

Such a beautiful hike once you get to the top and completely rewarding. I would not recommend doing this hike alone. The start of the hike was a bit intimidating at first because it was pretty straight up hill, however it did level out a bit to a steady incline until you get to the rock climbing portion at the top. For my girlfriends and I it was a one time hike mostly because on the way down the rock the rope snapped, so defiantly approach the rope with come caution.

The upper cave offers some cool scrambling opportunities on boulder piles. The amount of feces that looked and tasted like it came from a human was disheartening but not a bad trail otherwise.

Over crowded trail.

Pretty muddy most of the year so bring some good hiking boots and an extra towel if you have a 4 legged companion! Otherwise, the views are spectacular are more than you could ever ask for a hike under 5 miles and essentially no elevation again.

Hiked this on December 1, 2018. Beautiful hike and gradual incline leading up to a gorgeous view.

We did this hike on Sunday 12/2 between 10am-2pm, the actual road to the hike was uphill and lots of potholes in the beginning but it does get better and turn into an actual road closer to the top of the trail. Snow on the entire trail, gets a bit deeper closer to the top about 1 inch of snow. Not very crowded, saw more people as we were coming down than going up. The last section of the hike is like a mini rock climb to get to the tower you have to climb up some rocks and then climb the ladder to the tower, bring good snow gear if you plan on going to the very top at this time very cold and icy! Great hike overall, one of our favorites. Bring northwest forest pass!!

Did it 12/1 and the top had 2-3” of snow. It was incredible. Followed coyote tracks for a while. Fog blew in and out. I actually loved it.

The road to the trail head is littered with potholes, use caution. The trail register is closed for the season so be sure to let someone know where you are. The trail is very wet. Lots of running water on the tail. Snow made an appearance about 1/4 mile from the lake. There is about 3 inches of snow at the lake and it is starting to ice over. Not many people on the way up we started at 8 am by the time we got back to the car at noon there were no more parking spots. Great hike always one of my favorites

One of my favorites of the Seattle Tinder pic circuit. The views at the top are so so amazing and the hike is a bit challenging.

A fairly easy trail with amazing views at the top!

I spent the night at Upper Lena Lake a couple years back and loved it! The lake is pristine and the vegetation is renewing.

BEAUTIFUL Hike! Worth the destination AND the journey. There are three ledge lookouts. Most people just stopped at the first before turning back. It's worth hiking another 1/4 mile or so to the next two ledges. the All Trails Topo map makes it easy to find them. I went on a Thursday. There were definitely others on the trail, but not nearly as crowded as it appears to be on the weekend. If I lived in the area, this would be a reocurring hike for me.

Great hike! Beautiful views at the top. I went 11-29-18 and there was virtually no snow, but you could see a lot of snow on the taller mountains. It took me 5 hr 20 min round trip with very little breaks/detours. I encourage going clockwise (left) when you reach the loop trail beginning, due to it being steeper that way and I feel it's easier going up steep terain, than down it.
A great challenging hike, but Wagonwheel Trail tougher ;)

This cave is super fun we did the longer version. If you are scared of the dark and claustrophobic you won’t be a fan but if you want an adventure go for it. You will be climbing rocks and boulders at one point a rope helps you over a rock ridge. It’s fun!

Went at the end of November with a group. Would be slippery and more challenging in heavy rain, but today's light drizzle didn't cause any issues. We did have water running down the trail, so our shoes did get wet but not soaking wet. Beautiful trail, lightly traveled this time of year.

Absolutely beautiful trail.

When i came back to my car they had broken the window. I had nothing of value in the car. Maybe leave your doors unlocked? I will not be back.

Excellent trail, well maintained. Nice path, very gorgeous view. It was Smokey the day we completed so could have been better, but we did expect that!

Rained some pooled water - otherwise groomed trail with nice views of sound

Amazing hike! The moderate rating is justified due to the elevation gain, flooded areas, and trees/roots on the trail. Had snow at the lake which made for beautiful photos, would definitely recommend to others and doing it again.

Hiked In October, beautiful fall colors. My favorite trail. ever!! So beautiful!!

I did this as my very first solo hike! A little belated birthday present to myself, too! Had an AMAZING day up there! The weather was perfect, though the chill of winter was definitely showing up! The trail was wet from rain the previous day/night, so there were a few moderately slick spots, but my hiking boots were more than enough to get past it. Had the trail mostly to myself! Took the new, scenic trail up, and the west trail back for some variation. So different-looking than in the spring! I have been on Dog Mountain I think 2 or 3 times before and the wind was the calmest I’ve ever experienced it up there. I wanted to go back as soon as I left! I think I left my heart up there! Love this hike!

Stayed overnight, no snow yet, bathrooms are locked.

This is my FAVORITE hike in this area. Not too long. Steady elevation. And breathtaking lake! I’ve done this hike probably 20 times, and attempted it during every season and it never disappoints! My 4 year old even did the hike and only needed to be helped at the very top. And bonus theirs a “toilet” at the top ;)

Excellent trail that is great for beginners. As other reviews state it is an extremely busy trail so try to get started as early as possible to get a good spot at the top. If you are so inclined bring a trash bag to help pick up the litter, unfortunately people leave quite a lot of trash at the top.

If you're feeling froggy when you reach the lower ledge keep hiking up another mile or so and you can get to the middle ledge, which is much less crowded and offers the same amazing views. I haven't made it to the highest ledge yet but that's the goal for next time!
