I was there again on April 15th, it was really, really slushy. I’d recommend gaiters! Also there was a few patches where we sank into the snow well past our knees although it made for a great laugh, it was a bit more work to get out of the snow. Still beautiful and worth the adventure. Take some extra clothes to be dry on the ride home!

A good shoulder season hike. Icers were helpful for the descent. Mud will be an issue if and when the weather warms up.

Love this easy hike for the kiddos beautiful scenery and close to the hotel for food and picnic spots, great hike in winter, fall or summer

This is a great trail for in summer, easy for my 4 year old to keep up pretty neat waterfall at the end. Short trip though but nice for a picnic

This was a pretty easy hike! In the winter, you can walk right up to the water fall and walk under it which is pretty sweet. It’s not a huge water fall but still pretty! If you’re planning on going before summer, wear water proof shoes of some sort as the ground is quite damp.

will go back in the summer. only downside was the noise and scenery downer from the Plant and powerlines that was next to/through the majority of the trail

Worth the trip. Amazing views once it opens up after the switch backs. Brilliant!!!

Easy hike. Pretty views in the winter

Just finished this trail for the first time (April 14, 2018). It took me a total of 2.5 hours, however I ran down most of the way. Nicely packed snow all the way up and a very easy to follow trail. Highly recommend crampons or some sort of traction on your feet.. trail was completed covered in packed snow and ice beneath. I saw some hikers without any traction on their feet and I was surprised.. not sure if they made it to the top or not. Blizzard 80% of the way up, however once I got past the tree line the sun started to peak through!! Stunning 360 degree views at the top and well worth the steep incline! Very windy past the tree line, so make sure to bring lots of layers. One of my favourite hikes to date! Amazing.

First and last ice walking here this winter. We will definitely be back again!!

We just went there today. I know its snowy today yet it wasn’t that cold. It was icy, going down was hard. We had spike shoes on and poles but ice and mud and falling snow wasn’t helping. We are going back again on summer!

We went up April 7th! It was a grunt getting up and muddy by the main road but the skies were clear (despite the snowfall warning) and we were lucky enough to not get hit by the wind at the top so enjoyed our lunch up there! Slid the steep parts on the way down (we forgot our poles). Fantastic hike and a beautiful day! Microspikes are a must (we both slid with ours) and poles would have been nice.

Steep hike but really worth it. It took us a bit less than 2 hours up and about the same down again. We wore small cleats (not proper crampons) and found it a little slippery in places but easily doable. Gets great sunshine most of the day but pack a windproof layer for the summit as the wind is fierce!

Beautiful hike with 4 years old boy!
Alot to see in 1hour!

Awesome hike today! Spikes needed.

Gentle walk, great for young kids with a reward at the end!

Very nice hike! Will definitely do it again.

Beautiful hike!! A hidden treasure, definitely get out there before too many people discover it!! Spikes needed.
One of my all time favorites!

We did this trail Saturday March 31/18.
Trail is pretty steep going up but doable.
We had our ice cleats but we would have preferred to have something a little more extreme as it was pretty slick on the way down.
The views up top were breathtaking.
Definitely worth the effort.

Always a great short little hike! Bring spikes if you want to explore up near the falls.

Fantastic underrated kid friendly winter trail! Make sure to have crampons or cleats (especially for little ones). Do not let the beginning of the trek fool you. Once you get past the industrial plant and into the canyon it is incredible and half the people than Johnston. My kids thought it was incredible to climb the rock sides and slide down as well as climb the frozen waterfall at the end. Take a lunch and a beverage for the end and enjoy :)

great kid friendly trail!

Up and down yesterday. Trail is in great condition, and is very beautiful! Should have brought poles and running spikes.

would do this one again spikes recommended

Good trail. Great view. Hard uphill battle there, but well travelled and safe. Microspikes a must in the winter. Poles would have been a good idea.

My first ever summit! So much fun in the snow. Slid down on our butts for half of the way down

One of my favorite trails thus far. It requires a good push as most of the trail is on an incline. The view from the top is incredibly spectacular and beyond worth the struggle towards the peak.

We are not avid hikers and we still managed to complete the trail close to an hour and a half. It is so worth it!!!

We wore crampons and wished we had brought poles as well. However, we were hiking on a fresh batch of snow so poles are probably not needed when the path is beat down.

The weather at the top is quite chilly. We encountered a swift wind as we left the tree line to reach the peak. Prepare accordingly!

Absolutely amazing 360degree views from the peak! Great hike!!
