I live close and use this trail often. perfect for short strenuous trail runs. good mix of steady up hill to steep switchbacks. and the view near the top isn't bad. plus two waterfalls

Short hike with gradual elevation. Good workout!

Great trail with a great view at the top! Beware this trail is much longer if the gate at the bottom of the paved road is closed. It turned into a 4.1mi round trip with over 1300ft of elevation. No issues on the dirt road with a small sedan, but it does take nearly 25min of driving on the dirt road to get to the trail.

One of my favorite trails. Very good workout, great views and you're alongside the creek half of the time! Just note that it is a LOT harder going one way than the other, as on one side of Stone Mountain the ascent is very steep with a lot of stairs and on the other it is more gradual. Once you reach the split, if you go left it takes you by the waterfall first but then you've got the stairs up the side of Stone Mountain. Going right is the easier ascent up Stone Mountain and the waterfall will be at the end.

My husband and I and our two dogs hike this trail all the time because we only live about 15 minutes away from LNSP. It's one of our favorites because we can keep it pretty short using the Short Turn trail or you can make it longer by doing the full loop. My dogs love it because there are lots of little beaches along the way where we can stop for a quick swim in the lake. Moderately hilly, you'll get a decent workout without it being too difficult. Very enjoyable any time of year.

I built a 13.5-mile loop that started on Dutchman Creek Trail and ended with the Uwharrie Trail. It was an excellent hike, and my dogs loved it. The hills were moderately challenging, and there were plenty of streams for water. I recommend water treatment tablets if you choose to drink from the streams. As far as views, the trees prevent anything spectacular, but the terrain itself is pretty.

Spectacular views with just enough challenging sections! Great for either a day hike or an overnighter.

Loved this hike. We started with HQ, which was a much quieter trail with a steady incline. The falls were much more crowded but beautiful. It was a great workout - lots of steep stairs. Watch out for slippery steps and mud, especially if you go after it’s been raining. The whole loop took us under 3 hrs.

Lots and I mean lots of steps but the view at the top is beautiful and definitely worth it. We loved the tower!

Brp still closed, but the walk there wasn't so bad from the barricaded gate. Nothing crazy hard, if I can do it, anyone can do it! My first ever view of a waterfall, very pretty for a first timer

Very fun! To complete the loop you have to cross the river twice! It would be better on a warm day, we went in the freezing cold, but it made for some great memories

Love this hike. The waterfalls are some of my favorites in North Carolina. Be careful on the slippery stairs though.

One of the best hikes of my life. Loved the wild pony’s!

Great views at the summit
Overnight camping you can experience sunset And sunrises

Fun hike with beautiful views!

a bit muddy because of the rain but beautiful waterfall and fun hike. Not a difficult hike

This should be on your top 10 list!

Great for people with a desire for a big pay. You will earn the view toward the top but it’s worth it. Can be muddy and slippery so wear proper shoes and take it slow.

Every time we go to this trail, it’s a new experience and always wonderful. Summer time, it’s beautiful but today absolutely blew my mind. My husky, my 5 year old son, my fiancée and I all highly suggest this trail in any season. It’s a little muddy sometimes but you don’t go hiking when you wanna stay clean!

The trail is well marked and easy to follow. the view from the top is really beautiful especially on a clear day. Plus the sound of the water coming from the creek is really refreshing. It is a little bit of a workout but it is worth it.

This was a wonderful trail. As other reviewers stated... go up the left side to avoid the stairs. I would have highly disliked this trail if I had to climb up all those stairs. It was a busy Saturday at the park but this trail was very quiet. A beautiful 360 view from the top. The lookout tower is really cool!

Hiked this trail, the Canal Trail, and some of the Corridor Trail and logged 8.8 miles. The trails were very slick with the Yadkin River Smud (Sand-Mud mixture) from the resent and past heavy rains. Nice area. The Bean Shoals, Canal Wall Ruins, and the River were nice to see.

Very amazing trail enjoyed every thing about it not
To hard to get to the top

I hiked this trail yesterday morning. I started down at the lower parking lot trailhead and did the entire loop. It was an amazing experience. The views at the summit and the waterfalls was awesome. I saw an abundance of wildlife as well. Great trail!

We did about 3 miles because we had young kids in December. Perfect weather. Easy to walk pea gravel most of it. Nature center is nice because it has bathrooms and they have outdoor activity park. The park ranger also had a marshmallow roasting.

Hiked this loop with my 2 children about 2 months ago. It was challenging at parts but mainly fun! We started off to the right. Will go then opposite way next time for more of a challenge. The waterfall, views and well marked routes were perfect!

Our family hiked this trail. It was a great hike. Downhill for the trek and then mostly uphill on the way out. The bridge is out and we crossed the creek easily on rocks.

Very easy hike

Great hike that has it all! Great views from the top with lots of places to stop off the trail and take it all in! I did find parking at the east parking lot and going to the summit is the way to do this hike! Coming from the other direction to the top, you'll be climbing many narrow steps, much easier going down those narrow steps in my opinion. Seen plenty of people with children and dogs so I do believe it's a hike for the entire family.

would give this 5 stars, but bridge was out. this is a bit of a workout, but for a short hike, the falls are beautiful. Highly recommend.

Wonderful! Absolutely beautiful water falls, all green with Rhododendrons even in winter... And a great workout, too!
