Great trail - we were not expecting the trail to be so well maintained. There’s a couple outhouse bathrooms along the way. The lake at the end was stunning. Just a little bit of frost and ice on a couple parts of the trail today but no big deal at all.

Absolutely gorgeous. Constant elevation so packs were a little grueling but well worth the reward

Such a beautiful hike. Brings lots of water and snacks and/or lunch that you can eat at the falls.

A 360 view at the top! First hour is tiring then it actually gets more gradual as you get closer. Today, in November, it had snow about half way up or the last third. it's all packed down though. you don't need spikes but polls are helpful.

I will start with advice, if you want the best trip to the falls check the SF tides chart. Try to get to the falls 2 hours before or after low tide, any other time there will be no beach to see the falls from, it will all be water. And you will have to stay on the rocks.
Also from the top of The falls to the bottom is very sharp loose shale rock you are on you butt going down and must use your hands and knees going up, with shorts your knees could be cut up.

The trail itself is great, it goes from hundreds of feet up above the water to completely shaded by the trees.
Not much uphill at all

Great hike overall. We encountered some light snow patches just past the 6km mark, making it a bit muddy on the way down.
The lake is amazing with a great view of the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Camping facilities are ok, with outhouses, cooking shelters and bear caches for storing food. Awesome experience!

Beautiful hike with shade along the way. A long hike at 13-14 miles but so worth it. Take some snacks to enjoy the beach once you arrive ! It’s a busy hike but not too many people. Parking gets full very quick so unless you want to hike a couple more miles , get there early to get parking.

Busy but not too crowded. Trailhead parking is definitely packed by mid morning on the weekends. This is a fun one!

Nice hiking trail, the first half is a bit tough, but gets easier afterworlds. If you're looking to hike in forest between trees, pick another one. This is open high elevation space with nice views overseeing SF, the beach and marin county.

Fantastic Hike, getting to the Beach to stand below the falls is a MUST!!

Great trail for intermediate mountain biking. A few tough spots but well worth the ride to Berry Creek falls. Saw plenty of friendly hikers and a few other bikers.

Good technical trail for running. A lot of gain on the way to the top. Will have to come back when its sunny and clear, nothing but most, rain and the occasional frozen rain waves. There are places snow is either on or next to the trail.

What seems to be missing in these reviews is that this section of the trail does, indeed, go through the Ritz Carlton and its golf course which is all paved, but also one can continue north and south. Going north from the Ritz Carlton, the official paved path goes across a bridge and heads north all the way through Half Moon Bay and above. The signage is scarce but the trail does go through. Heading south is a bit more interesting. Near the end of the golf course along the coast there is a sign that says "coastal trail ends" and immediately after that on the coast is the beginning of a well used flat and winding dirt trail (fine for hiking but best for mountain bikes) that runs along the bluffs (pretty close in places so not so great for young children) for a mile or so to the Cowell Ranch Beach and the start of the new Cowell -Purissima official trail which is only open on weekends and holidays under a deal reached with the local growers. This official trail continues south for miles and is great. The entrance is well gated closed on weekdays and not possible to go around. From the beach is a short road that leads to a good sized parking lot just off highway 1. So, going northwards from the parking lot one can go to the beach, head north on the unmarked dirt trail to the south end of the golf course, then onto the paved trail along the golf course and through the hotel property and continuing on the official trail to and past Half Moon Bay. My wife and I have ridden our mountain bikes and seen people hiking this way for years.

Hike was better than I expected. Even though it is not a rain season, still pretty good waterfalls. Curiously my GPS showed roundtrip to be just under 15 miles. Not sure how to account for discrepancy.

Great trail! Very rainy and foggy, but still amazing views and flora. It is longer than the beta shows. I got kind of confused between the water washes and the trail near the top and my phones GPS was not reading correctly.

Absolutely beautiful place! So glad somebody on the trail let me know where the turn off was. I’m pretty sure I would’ve missed it. I will definitely come back and plan to bring my bathing suit so I can jump in the water at the end!

Very windy at the top but well worth the hike to the top , wish it was much clearer. Started at 7 am and was done by 11 pm .

That's a nice hike in point rayes . we did on weekend Oct 27. was a lot of hikers but still more then enough space for everyone. Beautiful green scenario feels like its spring but its almost November. Amazing almost clear all day. pretty views of ocean shore and breeze, nature lakes ,and waterfall by the shore. Recomend to try and enjoy what you love to do.

Great hike! Beautiful forest trees and gorgeous views. We misted the waterfall trail and had to go back and use the map to find it. Path to the waterfall is tight and at the end is climbing down the hill holding on to the big rocks on the sides. Was kind of scary for me but all worth it! Will go back again...!

That last descent down to the beach, and then back up again was a bit scary for this fat man, but was well worth it in the end.

Was a nice. Pleasant hike out and the views where amazing once there.

Done this twice. It's a nice hike.

I suggest going all the way to the top! Totally worth it. Would also suggest going on a clear day (if you can find one, haha), as everyday we've gone it's been super foggy!

So gorgeous! Went on a Sunday a few weeks back got to the parking by 9 and barely anyone so the hike and beach were basically to ourselves. We did the short cut and climb is hard. I brought gloves which helped.

Great trail, intense on the lower body. The initial part is through the woods, and then opens up with spectacular views of Mt. Rainier. You can see and hear vehicles from I-90 for most of the way. There are lots of blueberries on the way in the latter part. The trail has a lot of rocks which can get annoying while coming down. The views on top are fantastic with Mt Rainier towering about the other mountains. The fire/lookout tower on the top is closed.

Elevation gain on the trail is about 3,800 feet and can be quite intense. Wouldn’t recommended this trek for beginners. Make sure you carry enough water since the trail is long and it can be quite exhausting on a sunny day.

Amazing hike! Could present a challenge for novice hikers. Bring plenty of water and a snack to eat at the lake. You can camp on designated areas and swimming in the lake is allowed. If you plan on fishing make sure you have a license and follow regulations. Bringing an inflatable raft is recommended since the fish are not close to the shore. Apparently open 24/7 and all year round.

We started at 6:15 and reached the top in 2.5 hours. The first 2 miles are through the woods and later the trail opened up with awesome fall colors all around and my rainier starting to show towards the south.
The second half of the hike up is truly picturesque. There were just 2 other folks when we reached the lookout. The best view to grab your breakfast bites.
We ran into quite a lot of people on the way down though. And by the time we were back around 12(we stopped in places for photos) the parking lot was full with around 30 other cars parked outside on the road. Getting in early was a good idea.
My tracker clocked 11.5 miles and an elevation gain of 4070ft. Completely snow free today.

I did it last Saturday, it's toockme 5 h, weather was Increadable, as the hike was. spectacular Lake up there.

I love this hike. Enjoyed the views at the lake

Pretty coastal views at the beginning and a surprisingly beautiful waterfall that drops right into the ocean at the end; not particularly strenuous, but there are some good opportunities to scramble down rocks by the falls to the beach. The trail to the falls from the Coast Trail is not an official trail, though the beginning of the trail was marked by an arrow on the Coast Trail at about the 4 mile mark. There is a lot of poison oak on the side trail, so long pants/sleeves are recommended.
