Insane veiw
I hiked it today. Someone had wrongly told me on Instagram that the flowers were in full bloom. There are sparse amounts. Someone there said 3 weeks minimum to maybe Memorial Day.
Wildflowers are just starting. Very few in bloom.
Definitely rewarding once you get to the top, but other then that it was alright, nothing spectacular.
One of the hardest trails I’ve ever been on, went that “hardest” way up and hard way down. Saw an owl at the very top but not many wildflowers yet. Views are spectacular.
Just a quick condition update, as of today: patches of snow on the trail beginning at the Elk Creek Trailhead junction, but entirely passable with regular hiking boots. Fantastic trail but very challenging. We went clockwise on the loop so the ascent was immediate, long slow descent on Elk Creek Trail.
Trail is in excellent condition. Pretty busy today. Several horses, bikes, and hikers. Falls are beautiful as always.
Great trail and It’s challenging. Great cardio workout. The view at the summit is beautiful and worth it. Similar to King’s Mountain trail, just longer. We took 2h 20m to go uphill and 50mins to come down.
One of my new most favorite hikes I’ve ever done! Breathtaking views and we had perfect weather today. I suggest getting there early as the parking lot was about full when we got there at 9:30am. I highly recommend poles for this hike as many spots are rocky and I witnessed two people fall (thankfully they were okay!) so I was so glad to have my poles. The wildflowers are just starting to pop and were so pretty and can imagine within the next week they will be in full bloom!
it’s very difficult, very very steep. it’s starts steep and difficult and it ends even more steep and difficult. it takes a mile just to get to the trail so round trip is over 8 miles. The view is breath taking! I got to see 2 view points. i was told if i continued another 2 miles up there was a better one but we ran out of water half way there and we were tired. Weather was perfect! parking was horrible. we got lucky we only waited 20 minutes, but there was a couple people that said they waited 2 hours. There was cops there giving parking tickets.
Great hike. Got there around 9:15a and the main parking was full, so had to park just east along the gravel area. Its all good. The hike was definitely a burner at approx 1000 ft/mi rate. To be my legs were fine going up....yes tired. But coming down was worse being painful on my knees and feet. Overall good hike. 2 hr up, 1 hr 20 min down.
Beautiful and breathtaking views but straight up a lot and then when your heading back it’s straight down. Saw a few people slip and fall on their butt. Bring tons of water if warm out
Hottest day of the year so far, so we started earlier at 9am and the lot was packed already. However, the weather was fantastic and so was the hike, wildflowers are blooming! Lots of dogs today and great people, what a challenge.
Solid hike here, after you get through the first 2 miles or so of in and out of clear cuts the last 3 miles to Hidden Falls is a majority of forest. Hidden Falls is a 90 foot drop or so and was running very strong into Coyote Creek. There is a lot of little kick back spots in the Hidden Falls area as well. Not much on the way there, but the falls made up for it. I would definitely go back with others.
Hiked 4/17. Trail is definitely not for the faint of heart or beginners. Trail in general is pretty over grown so wear pants if you don’t like plants touching you. Very difficult uphill, needing to use your hands quite a bit. Really no access to water along the trail so pick accordingly. Partway between the peaks there is a section where someone has tied and left a rope for people to use, that honestly idk how you would be able to complete it without. There are still small patches of snow that have decent enough packed foot holes that make it manageable without micro spikes, but they definitely add a nice bit of confidence. View from the peaks is pretty good. Overall ended with 4150ft gain and 11.8 miles
This is a beautifully situated trail with stunning views at several points. The "More Difficult" trail is definitely a steeper ascent. Effort to reward ratio is pretty balanced, because the view of the Gorge at the top is fantastic.
Lots of incline! The last 0.5 miles is the most incline on the trail. Nice views of the range at the top but it’s not an easy hike!
Very steep and loose rocks in places, but the beautiful scenery was so worth it. We were too early for the bloom, but the view from up top made up for it!
