The easy hike has beautiful Scenery, but disappointing. The trail just end and seem very Anticlimactic. At the end you can hear a waterfall that is just out of view, unless you are adventuresome and crawl up the creek on logs and rocks. I do love the views of Heart Mountain and the beauty in the canyon. Have done this hike twice once in the spring and now in the fall. The trail is currently icy but still doable without Cleats.

So convenient from Canmore, but a respectable hike. Great views without all that much effort. The "more difficult" trail could be pretty dicey if there's ice.

nice easy walk.

Great first hike heading into Banff. Beautiful views and waterfall was amazing too.

Easy hike but we had spikes and we were happy we did as many people were slipping on the way down. Second lake is closed but it’s still worth seeing the first. A good hike to start with!

Little icy in spots, ok trail, pretty but not remarkable. Great for a trek thru town without having to walk the main road.

Beautiful wide open off-leash dog park in the mountains. There are multiple trails that take you around the lake that allow dogs. However, the picnic table area closest to the lake does not allow dogs. The lake itself is gorgeous and picturesque! Definitely worth the trek. It’s a relatively easy terrain even in the snow.

Recommend the “more difficult” trail, if you like to see a wonderful village view and a surprisingly pleasant fall which is surrounded by snow. The “More difficult” option is not difficult at all, but you may want to use something like crampons for the snow season just to prevent slips.

Very easy trail !

Too bad the actual lakes were closed but easy hike with great view of the valley! Agree to do the difficult trail up! There's lots of running water streams so be careful.

Great hike, a bit slippery when wet (lots of rock stairs toward the end of the "difficult" side of the trail). The difficult side is not really too difficult unless you are carrying toddlers in your arms....
The actual lakes are currently fenced off and closed, so don't expect to be able to walk around them. But you do get great views of the valley and the waterfall from the top.

Steep walk for the first 20 minutes but totally worth it and easy the rest of the way. Very rewarding the whole time. Every part is super beautiful.

Easy hike, worth the walk and beautiful sights.
We did the Troll Falls (you can climb up to the water fall) and also the Upper falls hike (although it is not currently maintained, it is very safe to do).
When you get to the parking in the trail head, make sure you make a left to the woods immediately or you will end up walking several miles in the Stoney Trail.

Fun easy hike! great with kids! climb up and over falls to see more!

fun for the whole family! easy and pretty!

Excellent hike. A little more strenuous than we had anticipated. Not overly difficult, but be prepared for traversing a bit of water. It does get crowded. Definitely take the "harder" route; otherwise, it would be really boring.

Nice short easy walk. It was the first mountain walk I’ve taken my dog on and the first mountain walk I’ve done solo. Not a super busy path, although there were others around which was comforting but I also did it end of September. Great for a easy walk close to the city!

As others have said take the harder route up and the gravel road down. It’s much more scenic; the gravel road does not offer much at all in terms of views and is rather boring. Overall really enjoyed this hike and will definitely do it again!

It was raining and starting to slick up so we didn’t go past the first falls. But what a great walk with kids on a cold and rainy Saturday.

Great hike. Easy to do, fun to explore. Great pay off. I definitely suggest continuing past the first falls. You can go in behind the upper falls and it has spectacular views. Not sure if there is a direct path but we wound up doing some unintentional rock climbing to get up there. Well worth it.

Totally agree with those who say harder route up and easy route down. A great trip. Would have been even better if it wasn't so cloudy the day we went BUT it us a hike worth doing even if the views are partly obscured by cloud. not TOO many people on the trail in September when we were there, but it is a popular trail.

This a great hike for families. My kids (ages 6 and 10) handled it beautifully. The bridges are fun to cross and they enjoyed jumping from rock to rock in places. You may see climbers so look up!

quick hike to complete in an hour. take the "more difficult" route for a more scenic hike and awesome gain elevation near the waterfall to the top. i would recommend you come back the way you came vs doing the "easy" route back down; it's boring but understandably save for those that need a level way to walk. beautiful view of canmore. don't forget to carry your bear spray. :D

beautiful trails! go the extra hike to the upper falls and explore! its much prettier up there and way less busy :)

Very crowded trail (probably because it’s so close to town) with some decently nice views. The lakes were closed off when we went but you could still see them. Lots of people, some trash on the trails, very noisy, etc. If you do this hike, it would be best to go early in the morning or later in the afternoon. Also, opt for the “difficult” route. It’s not too tough and it’s much more pleasant/less traveled.
