Hike Map

Nice hike, clearly marked trail. Went with some snow on the trail and was able to get around without issue.

Great hike, A dusting of snow at the base and 1-2" on the shady side of the top. Upper 20s and mostly sunny. We did the loop counter clockwise without taking the spur to the lean to. 3.9 miles according to the GPS. We only saw one other pair with their dog. Numerous animal tracks in the snow. We might not have needed them but we used micro spikes on the way down and it made more secure footing.

Clean easy walk.

Clean easy walk on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

not really a hike, more like a walk. paved ways, lots of traffic noise. better than nothing?

Easy and fun to explore with kids. We spent about an hour and a half strolling the paths and playing at the playgrounds. Several different trails to follow. The kids had a great time leading the hike through the park.

Easy hike out to a few great views! Took kids, they liked it too.

Nice view at vista. One mile uphill & rocky to view, with a couple of side trails to extend the hike. Very muddy at lower elevation/start after rains day prior. Fairly heavy traffic though it was a Sat.

Muddy but beautiful.

Had a little of everything. Great few hours

Great trail for my daughter and me. Took our dog on his first real hike today and it was great for him. The rocks made it a little rough to navigate when he was pulling (excited) to keep feet from sliding, but he caught on quick.

Very technical rocky start to the climb. But gorgeous and because it’s a technical climb it is not crowded

It’s alright. Basically a paved walkway very close/through the capitol. A lot of noise/traffic.

This is just a glorified asphalt walking trail in a scenic area. It’s pretty but the asphalt and crowds are a deterrent

Nice trail. Steep start but don’t be deterred it levels off. Massive amounts of water on the trail right now

pretty views of rolling water

excellent views and scenic waterfalls and that was in the middle of winter.

Clean trail, lots of scenic overlooks with pretty little waterfalls.

We took our 5 and 7 year old daughters to hike this trail and it was great. We went on a mild December day so we weren't able to get in the water but the view of the falls was still worth it. It's a short hike with plenty of interesting features for kids. We made the short drive to Eden Mill Nature Center afterwards to round out the day. We will definitely be going back!

we did this one today for xmas. with our 15mo old. certain trails are very rocky. its all beautiful. steepish terrain. ♡ wouldn't recommend bringing a young child better for older ones.

Nice rail, and is a nice workout. On a clear day there’s a really nice view of the river. My only issue was, this trail has a few spots that are not good for dogs. I took my dog along and there were some pretty big rocks that she couldn’t get down from or over. Other than that, it’s a nice part of the AT

Decent hike with a really awesome view at the top. Unfortunately, it was pretty hard to find the trail. Here are some directions:
You can park where these directions take you, or drive about a mile down the road to the start of the uphill hike. You'll recognize it by a path leading uphill on your left blocked by a gate and a small parking area in front if it. If you drive past this area about 3/4 of a mile further you'll reach a dead end, a larger parking lot and another hiking trail. This is NOT the right one.
Furthermore, around the last mile of the hike the trail forks with no directions pointing to the tower! Take the LEFT path. I'm not sure where the right path leads...

Between the miles of muddy trails, the constant gunfire from what I assume is a gun range, a lady yelling for someone and about an hour of sirens, I imagine this hike is similar to crossing the Mexican border into the US. Enjoy.

The view from Hawk Rock is great. Had actually only done the hike down this part of trail but enjoyed the numerous rock steps/stairs. Looped back up the un-blazed trail which includes unobstructed view of Duncannon.

i really enjoyed the route. it was gravel in parts, paved for some and a wooden walkway for others. you can hear the highway in all parts of the trail. nice 4 mile mid morning jaunt for us

This is a great hike if you are looking for a couple hours in the woods! Nice terrain, good ups and downs that get your heart pumping. Not a scenic hike - also not crowded or too many people. Opportunity to add some distance if you do the buzzard trail loop. Very well marked in my opinion. It is hunting season, so wear bright clothes as hunting permitted in some areas of French Creek. We’ve had a lot of rain so beware of mud.

Great views! Recommend hiking boots. There are some rocky areas but my dog loved it!

Not really a hike but it's a decent walk around the lake, fairly flat. I've seen snapping turtles and snakes here. The boardwalks are cool but very slippery when wet. It's in the city so you do have city and highway noise.

Fun trail! I enjoyed the rock scrambling, it kept things interesting! Best view is at the section where the trail splits and you can either climb up the rocks or go down beside them. Go up!

Nice hike with variety of scenery to keep it interesting. Be warned much of the water streams right down the trail on some sections of this loop if there has been good amount of rain recently (both .6mile segments going down/up from the main stream). Couple of nice stream crossings. There is no lookout/view on this trail but may possibly see through trees in winter on top of rocks at Miller's point. The area between Shed Rd parking lot up to Mill Creek Trail is wide trail (old access road), but can still be pretty rocky. Mountain bikers are also pretty frequent on this trail.
