Well marked and groomed, plenty of up and down throughout balanced by some nice flat areas as well as benches to sit and rest occasionally. We went on a Sunday afternoon after church and the parking lot was full. Gift shop is open near trailhead and they have a few animals you can take your kids in there to see.

Off the beaten path but a nice change for those used to the relatively flat trails of Illinois'. Trail is not kept up very well and had tall vegetative growth when we hiked it. Very cool Tunnel entrance at the end and other abandoned railroad remnants can be found along the way.

It was okay. Trail was well maintained but it was fairly boring.

Great Lake for kayaking! During windy days it provides a little fun getting through the waves.

Great trail with a cool backpacking campground. Lots of Ticks!!!

Great trail with plenty of hills for exercise. All Trails with my phone GPS said the trail was 3.1 miles, not 4

Went right at the fork and that was definitely smart. Great trail, lower portion should be saved for the return. Don't fall and crack your phone screen.

Initially, great views as the trail winds near the creek. A dilapidated staircase takes you to the top of the ridge. We made it 1.7 miles from the trailhead, and the weeds became waist high so we decided to loop back. Overall, decent moderate hike.

Very well marked trails. A few hills, but not too strenuous. It can be combined with some of the inner trails to go a little farther.

The trails are well marked and fun to hike. Lots of rolling hills and scenic quiet spots. In early spring it’s easy to see the river from the higher elevations. Nice little gift shop too. Well worth getting to know!

Beautiful hike, even in mid-February!

beatiful views. we hiked in January during a warm weather pattern. bald eagles all over the river.

Beautiful yet so many ticks!

Interesting history, well maintained, great views, trail well laid out. No camping but it is available just a few miles south at Pike's peak SP.

I feel like this special place is a one time thing for me. Steep in the beginning but gets easier as you walk on. The mounds are interesting and you get to see lots of them. Also has a great scenic view of the Mississippi River. The trail is good to see this historic site and what it's all about.

The views of the Mississippi are amazing and the Indian Burial Mounds are breathtaking! It truly a beautiful path and peaceful trail.

trail running

The running trails near Olson lake are very well maintained and a treat to run on. They can be confusing so I recomend running during cross country season when the trails are painted.

Very sandy

It has some tough inclines, but was a joy to home through!

Love this park.

Half way point of trail is overgrown and not clear. People have started using the corn field edge to rejoin the missing trail. Doable though.

loved it

I love walking around the lake! It is always a great view and opens up frequently to get a fresh view of everything. A great park. Looking forward to camping there!
