Crowded

Very nice hike down to pools and the top of the falls. I recommend driving down to the trailhead if you have 4 wheel drive. I met some nice gals for Germany and the Netherlands and we hiked together - fairly high traffic and you will slide if your shoes don’t have good traction or spikes. Enjoy!

Not a hike at all, but great views!!

Wonderful trail with something for everyone. We enjoyed the hike including the great scenic views and awesome reward at the end with the waterfall.

We arrived on a rainy day and debated whether or not to attempt this trail. It was very muddy and the trail was in bad shape with clay-mud, roots and overuse. However we didn’t have to wait that long to get a parking space so we went for it and we are glad we did! Great reward at the end!

8/12/2018-Started at 0730 with tons of other people (parking lot in Diamond Head was full) so it was slow going to the top. The weather was sunny but not super hot yet and the view at the top wasn’t super crowded but the ocean was really pretty at least.

Short but pretty steep hike. Not too challenging, just have to use some concentration while walking. My brother (19) did this without shoes and was just fine. When you get down the trail, keep going left to find a really cool swimming hole. Would do this again!

A good alternative but much quiter and more lush hike is around the Makiki-Tantalus Trail System. There are 5 main points of entry into the interconnected system of trails - Judd Trail/ Nuuanu Trail from the Nuuanu Pali Dr., Maunalaha/Kanealole/Makiki Valley Trails via the Makiki Nature Center , Pu’u Ualakaa/Moleka Trails from Round Top Drive, Manoa Falls/Aihualama Trails at the end of Manoa Rd, and lastly Pu’u Pia/Kolowalu Trail from the end of Alani Dr/Woodlawn Dr. Study the trail map and have fun exploring.

Hiked this as a “spur of the moment” thing when we visited the Scotland monument. Beautiful little walk.

Nice wee walk

Short but steep with a must experience ending. Slippery when wet, you will get muddy. only about 10parking spaces. Can park at the golf course free with $15 purchase at the pro shop and walk a quarter mile to the trail head.

Amazing views! Took my 11 year old daughter up and we both took 1000 photos of Edinburgh! :) Do not skip this hike on a visit to Edinburgh! Second time here and stuck to the castle and art galleries and shopping last time. This hike honestly really made Edinburgh sing to me on a level waaay beyond the castle and sites. Do it!

Extremely crowded, as in traffic jam on the trail, even midweek. Very slow as people just decide to take a break in the middle the trail and block people in both directions.

The view at the top was nice but not worth dealing with all the people

Definitely a must do if you are in Kaua’i! Good for all skill levels. Views are simply breathtaking !

À must do if you are in the Princeville area! Prepare to get muddy feet. Beautiful views and rock jumping into the pools. The whole family loved it!

A nice hike! Easier than anticipated. It is all uphill and parts of it are through concrete tunnels- nothing small, enough room to move. The view wasn’t breathtaking- but a fun day hike !

Great moderate hike with a handful of slick areas and bits with loose sand. Just under four miles out and back, rewarded with great view of the canyon and a very chilly waterfall pool in which we took a quick swim with our 9- and 12-year old. Plenty of shade but water is a must - toughest stretch is the final third of a mile back to the parking lot.

Nice hike, but crowded if you don’t go early. But worth the view and steep steps to get to the top

This trail is amazing. It is worth the trip.
******please bring water and snacks*******
We completely forgot our water and snacks in the car. How do you just forget something like that you ask? Easy, we didn’t think we were going to go the distance. We met four angels on the way back who were gracious enough to give me an apple and a protein bar and two more who gave us water. If it had not been for those blessings I would not have made it out. If you ladies are reading this thank you and bless you. You were my blessing yesterday.
The trail is a long time down then a long time going up. It definitely works those thighs.

With the recent storms parts of the trail are treacherous. There are some very muddy and slippery sections before the lava rock cliffs and an area just before you get to the cliffs is quite a scramble. The pools are neat and the view of the waves is incredibly beautiful; but the hike out, although short, is fairly difficult at this time.

Suggested by a local to climb clockwise vs the steps. The advise was great. More enjoyable to climb rocks vs. the hundreds of steps.

The hike was fun, met lots of people from all over. The views are spectacular.

The beach is beautiful with lots of turtles and surfers in the waves. As you follow the trail you come across an awesome vantage point for sunrise and the spot doubles as a great cliff jumping spot! Walking along the coastline you will get a magnificent view of the Kauai coastline. Great all around hike!

This was a fun little hike. It was super wet and muddy, but we had a great time. Adults and kids both were able to do it. Dont forget to keep exploring to the left after you get to the bottom. Loved that we were able to swim in it. Just make sure it is low tide.

Its definitely a wonderful view of the city but as far as views go there are several others that are less touristy and require you to walk back to back in a slow moving line and waiting your turn to take selfies. Wiliwilinui and several others have epic views without the long lines but keep in mind they won’t be paved and you will get muddy. There are some advantages here in the sense that you can’t get lost and won’t get muddy or eaten by mosquitoes but then the true hiking aficionado would say then you really aren’t hiking. Its 5 strs for a tourist but 4 as a Hawaiian resident who loves hiking. If you want to group up for some truly epic hiking adventures email me at justindavidsands@gmail.com.

One of the most beautiful trails in the world (not a hyperbole). Stunningly beautiful - the mountains stumble into the ocean. Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the beach and the waterfall. Imo, this isn't a trail that you rush in and out of; Savor every moment of this remote, rugged landscape. The lush jungle on one side and the blues of the ocean on the other - this is my favorite hike in Hawaii, maybe the world (at least so far!).

It’s a long, winding path to get up to the lookout but has rewarding, breathtaking views. Bring a jacket though if you’re up there near sunset. With higher elevation it gets chilly and windy.

Petit trail sympa la cascade a l’arrivée est belle. Les vues y sont magnifiques.

A decent hike though you can bypass half of it with a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The end of the hike is awesome and totally worth it. The waterfall is cool but the views along the slope just before are really grand. I strongly suggest bringing trekking poles since the incline going down the sandy smooth ridge hits 45 degrees and if there is even a little bit of rain I can see sliding all the way down...

The hike is a fun sloppy mess to get down to the water. Trekking poles are a MUST! We kept laughing hearing people slip and land on their butts and yelp at the same time. Watching a stream of people navigate down this way was quite entertaining. Once you get down the waterfalls and of course the bath are simply awesome. The only problem? BIG SURF. Over 30 people have been swept out to their deaths. By sheer dumb luck we were there during low tide during the off season and even with this 4-6 foot swells were constantly coming in. The Queen's Bath is totally worth the time it takes to check tide tables. Enjoy!!
