Can get a little muddy but definitely worth the hike. Easy to do and a definite must if you are visiting Hawaii.

From Manoa Falls, I went up Aihualama. At the end of Aihualama where it meets Pauoa Flats, I took the right and headed towards a lookout point with a bench. Once past Manoa Falls, I hardly came across anyone.

Great short trail to a beautiful view overlooking the coast. Don’t miss this hike. Bright sun for much of the trail,so be prepared. If it has rained, can be pretty muddy.

Nice waterfall, but many people.

Great hike in Kauai for the amazing vista at the end. Interesting hike in closed in forest until then. PLEASE pick up your toilet paper when you pee in the outdoors. It doesn’t take that much effort. So discouraging to see tp all along the trail!!

hike with the right conditions make the walk enjoyable, and definitely worth it. The trail does get confusing at the end if you haven't been to the falls before or there are very few hikers around. No swimming space at the waterfall, but often kids climb up and sit on the low ledges on the falls, foliage is also very beautiful, great for picture taking and nature enthusiasts. There are prime picture taking places before the falls if you're just going for the views, large trees and shrubbery/trail markings are nice props for photos. Does get muddy, and depending on how rainy it's been there are bugs/mosquitos. Children, dogs, and active adults will have a great time here, with the right weather conditions.

This hike is spectacular! As middle-aged, active people, this hike wasn’t ‘difficult ‘ ; however, we went on a dry day. If it is raining or has recently rained, it can be challenging. We went past the railing at the end of the trail; had it been wet, we wouldn’t risk it. We’re constantly overcoming our fear of heights, so venturing down to the plateau was a big step. There is an even more precarious end and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GOING OUT THERE! The view of the valley, the coastline, the ocean will be imprinted in your minds and hearts forever. Casually walking and an hour stop at the end made our trip total, 4.5 hours.

Nice afternoon hike. I wouldn't rate it hard, rather moderate. The view from the top was great!

Unexciting path leading to stunning vista!

This is not an easy hike! Several older hikers had to turn back. AllTrails has a tendency to underestimate the hikes. The falls at the top are tall but not too much water. It’s not Yosemite falls. You’re not suppose to go in the small pool at the bottom of the falls. Lots of steps to the top make it strenuous. When it’s flat then it’s easy. Very slippery and muddy because the trail is in shadow.

Incredible views of the Napali coast along the beginning, and at the end of the hike, where you can actually see Hanalei Bay & Princeville. Very technical in areas, but most of it is on boards, many of which were recently replaced. Very long hike (Took us 7 hours RT with lots of stops and a long lunch), but a big payoff at the end. Fortunately, it hasn't rained in Wimea for many days, so the trail is probably about as dry as it has ever been. No problem for my well worn Crocs. Very clear all day.

If you are in Kauai now, you should do this hike ASAP, as the conditions are perfect - especially if you have questionable footwear like me. There were only 2 patches of wet mud which were easily crossable on boards without shoes sinking in.

Beautiful scenery! We all loved this hike! The light mist was refreshing!

Beautiful views. Cool swamp. Interesting vegetation. Not too crowded once you get away from the lookout parking lot.

Well that was fun! I hiked it with my parents (50s) me (30yo). It’s officially their first Hawaii hike in the books! It was both challenging but doable. It’s definitely muddy, I don’t know why we even bothered trying to avoid the mud on the first half of the hike... getting covered is pretty inevitable, haha. We did go on a cloudy day though. So we didn’t get to see that incredible 360° view from the top, it was just misty. But it was very green and lush and had incredible views on the way up!! This one was a great one!

Not a hike, just a lookout. Regardless, still worth a stop! Great views, very peaceful if you go early in the morning to beat crowds.

Challenging but views are worth it.

Great trail, some hard slippery mud makes going down harder than going back up. Took us about 3 hours, not including time spent at the vistas at the bottom. Shaded and forested the entire way, no great views until you get to the end, but when you do they are spectacular. Really cool exposed ridge line at the end to get great photos and your heart pumping. GF wore chacos and got some blisters, so maybe wear shoes or boots to tie down your feet with some of the slipping.

Leave early in the morning to get the best views, avoid clouds, and avoid crowds. We were first on the trail and it was well worth it.

On weekends hunters are in the area. A sign recommends wearing bright clothing but we didn’t get hunted so maybe not a big deal.

When we hiked the trail, it was fairly dry, so I would rate this as an easy hike rather than moderate based solely on those conditions. The bamboo forest was absolutely my favorite part of the hike. Hearing the bamboo stalks knock together with the breeze was really cool. The banyan tree was also really beautiful! If there's no risk of a flash flood you can get closer to the waterfall, but beware there are fines if you get too close!

Great trail to experience! easy walk besides last few miles to climb back to the mountain.

Only muddy for the last 1/2 mile. We were fine in sneakers, but hiking boots would have been better. Nice views along the way, and close to town. A super quick activity on the way between other things. If you only have time for one hike, definitely skip this and head to Waimea canyon!

such a great hike! took my boyfriend and I about 3.5 hours, with time to relax at the top. recommend wearing good hikers for grip as it can get slippery with the rain. when we got to the top it was too cloudy to see the view but the whole way up and down the view is amazing.

Spectacular hike! I loved every minute of it. The views are breathtaking and the silence was golden. I was the only person in site for 90% of the hike.

Bring shoes that grip. Muddy trail!

Great hike! Muddy at points but fairly dry overall. We continued past the benches and it got a bit more slick but the view was well worth it! Ended up being about 4.5 miles and took about 3 hours.

Great hike but very muddy- wear shoes you don’t care about! Like most ridge hikes on Oahu it was clouded over at the top, but beautiful views on the way up. If you don’t feel comfortable climbing the top part with the ropes your views and hike won’t be compromised.

Beautiful views. Well worth the hike. Took me 2.5 hours round trip. In OK shape. I’d rate this as moderate.

A relatively unassuming first few miles gives way to a truly spectacular and one of a kind view on the spine. This is about as dramatic a trail as any out there in the last half mile. I’d compare it to Angels Landing in Zion, without a hundred other people jockeying for position (we saw 3-4 people in 3 hours out on the trail). Your legs will be cursing you on the way back up, but your mind will still be busy thinking about the view you just witnessed, so it won’t matter. It can get VERY muddy, so be prepared with good hiking boots, and if you enjoy your cartilage, poles. Would have loved to take the Nualolo Cliff Trail on the way back, as I think that would have enhanced the hike as a whole, but unfortunately we did this hike while that trail was still closed in 2016. Would definitely do this trail again, if only for the chance to sit on the edge of the world for 20 more minutes!
