This was one of those trails where you think you’re gonna be done 800 times but it’s never ending. It’s super slippery. Lot of rope climbing. My watch recorded that it was over 5.2 miles. This hike took a total of 8.5 hours (there and back). So bring a lot of water and leave early. P.S there are wild boars within the first 2.5 miles of the trail. Be careful. Stairs are amazing but honestly if I ever go again it’ll be illegally cause that hike is not worth it!

I'm just coming down from the trail January 19 2019... the hike up there was amazing, it had awesome views but unfortunately it was very cloudy at the top. if you plan to do this hike obviously like any other be careful, there are some sketchy spots but hold on tight and look at every step you take. The stairs are a beating but worth it!!

Lots of people but well worth it with the views at the top. Plus the bunker walk through is a trip to the past.

This’s a decent hike. Way too many people on it trying to catch the Sunset leaving very little Realestate to call your own unless you arrive super early. Head lamp is helpful if you’re going up and it’s still dark outside. After watching the sunset we continued on and around to the other end of the trail. It’s difficult going down and so pray it’s dry or hasn’t rained a few days. The views are beautiful.... But the hike is okay and a decent workout going up and down the trail with decent views.

Wear appropriate shoes if you're not experienced or tend to be a little clumsy like me. Steep but well worth it. Lots of people but it's a short beautiful tropical hike worth visiting.

Aloha! I typically hike up 1-3 times a week for almost 3 years now. Went up 7 times in the last 13 days. I will be going again this weekend Saturday and Sunday. I have probably done this particular hike more than anyone else on island. (over 100+ times) It is often windy and/or rainy but we never have issues as we always have the right gear (including microspikes and gloves) which are supplied by me when we go. If you're looking to hike and want to link up or get some ideas of what this trail looks like feel free to reach out to me on my Instagram @mike.karas or mikekarasphotography@gmail.com. Bring plenty of water for this hike and other hikes out here in Hawaii.

Nice trail

Heya! I'm looking to do this hike on Feb 19th or 20th. If anyone is interested in joining or already planning the trek, let me know! Canadian on vacation looking to get some pre-frisbee tourney adventure in! Reach me at aaron_zucker@hotmail.com or @aaron.zuck

Can get a little muddy but definitely worth the hike. Easy to do and a definite must if you are visiting Hawaii.

Easy hike but heavily trafficked. This hike is definitely a good start of you are planning on coming to Hawaii to hike. Great views from the top. If you aren't used to hiking you will get tired and the stairs may seem like they can beat you but you got this.

I've been going every weekend. it's been pretty clear up top the last few times I went. I have done this hike many times. If you want to avoid getting fined/arrested I will be going up this weekend this legal backway. I have some clean up to do up there. In my opinion going up the stairs all the way gets boring, the backway is more of an adventure and there are better views. It can get pretty muddy and windy. Crampons(spikes) recommended, I do have some spare spikes.
If interested send me a message on instagram @angelo_q or email me at chicolo@hotmail.com for details. Make sure to bring plenty of water and food

Gorgeous sunrise views!! Very crowded in the mornings so make sure you come EARLY to get parking if you want to see the sunrise. First lookout is maybe 15 min in and the dawn view is already good from there if you want to stop at that point and just chill.

Brief trail, great views. The first time I went I accidentally missed the puka (walked right over it—when you reach the tall rock face you need to u-turn left and head down to the next level to see it) and went up to the next peak instead. If you are comfortable with ropes and heights that’s not a bad add on to this trail.

very difficult but a good workout

Aloha, planning to hike this trail after Eminem concert next month. Shooting for February 16 or 17. Looking for experience hiking buddies to do it with us. Beer and dinner on me after! DM me on my IG @ mytravellovebug

From Manoa Falls, I went up Aihualama. At the end of Aihualama where it meets Pauoa Flats, I took the right and headed towards a lookout point with a bench. Once past Manoa Falls, I hardly came across anyone.

Hi ! I would like to do this hike tomorrow, I’m in Hawaii with my friends but they don’t really want to go because of the difficulty of this hike. So if you want to do it with a French hiker contact me on Instagram : theo_mrc

Nice waterfall, but many people.

Short easy hike, very crowded.

I typically hike up 1-3 times a week for almost 3 years now. Went up 5 times in the last 11 days. Had an awesome time going up today! I will be going again this Thursday, Friday, and this upcoming weekend. I have probably done this particular hike more than anyone else on island. hike with the right conditions make the walk enjoyable, and definitely worth it. The trail does get confusing at the end if you haven't been to the falls before or there are very few hikers around. No swimming space at the waterfall, but often kids climb up and sit on the low ledges on the falls, foliage is also very beautiful, great for picture taking and nature enthusiasts. There are prime picture taking places before the falls if you're just going for the views, large trees and shrubbery/trail markings are nice props for photos. Does get muddy, and depending on how rainy it's been there are bugs/mosquitos. Children, dogs, and active adults will have a great time here, with the right weather conditions.

It’s a great hike with great views! Be sure to take water because it can get very hot.
The hike can be done as an out and back or a loop by continuing past Pillbox #2 and hiking the ridge. The trail will dump you out on Luika Place. CAUTION!!! The trail gets really steep and narrow, the last 1000 feet or so. If it recently rained, forget about going as the trail will get slick and muddy.

Completed this hike 3 days ago with my mom! So proud of us.

This is not an easy hike! Several older hikers had to turn back. AllTrails has a tendency to underestimate the hikes. The falls at the top are tall but not too much water. It’s not Yosemite falls. You’re not suppose to go in the small pool at the bottom of the falls. Lots of steps to the top make it strenuous. When it’s flat then it’s easy. Very slippery and muddy because the trail is in shadow.

Beautiful scenery! We all loved this hike! The light mist was refreshing!

What beautiful view from the top. Make sure you bring water if hot.
