Easy hike with nice views: Kahana Bay, ancient Hawaiian fishpond. Gonna bring the drone next time

Earns its reputation for hard. The last mile is pretty steep even with ropes. Mud isn’t helpful at all and wind can make things challenging. Good news though. Volunteers were up there today clearing away the overgrowth so the path is clear up to the top

Me and my pal did it a while back on cross country bikes would definitely avoid that one section that had a sandy path to the look out tower we didn’t stand a chance in the sand. It was so how I had two water bottles and we ran out before half way go early avoid the sun wear proper attire cause it’s HOT

My favorite hike but a challenging hike. Anywhere from a 3 to 6 hr adventure depending how many waterfalls you cross. Most will do all 3 waterfalls but not the ascending ridge to the summit. The ridge should only to taken on drier days because the last 1/4 mile is dirt and becomes muddy on the wetter days and at the most 3ft. wide with steep cliff on both sides dropping down as far as 200ft. (2 women has fallen to their deaths within the last 5years) So be careful.

If this will be your first time on this trial you should be accompanied by an experienced hiker of this trail. Have at least a liter of water per person and some snacks because it will be awhile before you encounter civilization again. You will be utilizing every muscle in your body on this trail so be physically and mentally prepared.

Safe journeys to all.

So beautiful! Me and my family went there today. Very confusing at first to find where to start the trail . But once you find it there are pink/orange tape markers to guide your way. Very muddy and some parts a little difficult to navigate. The terrain is rocky/muddy. Wear waterproof boots. You have to cross the stream multiple times before you get to the falls. There are multiple routes that you’ll see as you’re hiking the trail. For instance on the way up we took one route and coming down we took an easier way. The falls are beautiful. I highly recommend this trail! Happy hiking!

A real kick to the crotch but the views are amazing. We camped at the summit one New Years, hoping to catch the fireworks on both sides of the island but got clouded in at the last minute.

Easy hike, but the humidity in there is something else! My shirt was soaked before I even got to the waterfall.
Not the most impressive waterfall but the forest leading up to the waterfall is stunning

Easy hike. Very busy.

The hike is on private property. You need a permit from the Hawaii Reserves office, which is on the way to the hike in the same building as Foodland, within minutes of the trailhead. The permits are free and good for four months. The whole process took about five minutes. (I don’t know if the need for a permit is enforced or not, but I support doing what is needed to keep private lands open to the public).

This was a mediocre hike at best. The elevation gain was slow and easy, but it’s horribly muddy (shoe sucking) and slippery for at least 2/3 of the way. I wouldn’t do this hike in bad weather, as most of the trail will be a creek. There are some fun spots—there are beautiful views in a few pockets, I loved the segment through the Cook Pines, and I always love a Hawaii hike that requires ropes. The falls were also lovely, but we didn’t swim due to the risk of leptospirosis in Hawaiian fresh waters (http://health.hawaii.gov/docd/disease_listing/leptospirosis/#risk_in_hawaii).

Would I do it again? Probably not. I’ve done many far better hikes on Oahu. But it was a decent way to kill some time, get some exercise, and see a part of Oahu that I’ve not experienced.

Hiked November 2018.
This trail is the best one I’ve hiked this far....for the dogs. It was well shaded the entire way and even had a few fresh water run offs for them to drink. I really enjoyed the view and the finale at the end.
Definitely worth repeating.

Just hiked this about 2 hours ago. They are doing some filming for a new movie on the trail. Super neat. Very slick on the trail but the destination was worth it!

This trail was very beautiful. Lots of breathtaking views and it is not a hard hike. The trail can be really muddy so bring shoes you don't mind getting dirty.

great undergrowth and tropical forest views, not many vista views

Wonderful hike, but it's more like a walk. No shades so it's better on a cloudy or cooler day. Be sure to put your sunscreen on, hats, shades, and plenty water is a must. We walked to the tip of the island, then we walked all the way to the North shore parking lot, and then we followed the metal fence back down to the Waianae side parking lot. We saw the ground nesting birds and seals at the tip.

This was a nice hike. Did it about a month ago. There are a few spots to go off trail and enjoy the stream. We went after a nice rain so it was a bit muddy, but very enjoyable. The waterfall at the end offers a refreshing view.

The bench at the top of the Nu'uanu Lookout is in memory of our son Daniel Levey who fell July 21, 2003 at age 19. Daniel loved nature and hiking. The bench is to provide rest for hikers, a fabulous view, and ta reminder to always hike safely. Enjoy.

Hike was awesome but when I finished the cops were given out citations at the trailhead said it was illegal and off limits.

I really enjoyed this hike. It was an easy trail and I liked the waterfall but the water was a bit cold. I liked the tall and beautiful trees especially in the beginning of the hike

A great trail for us and our pups. Slightly muddy in some areas but overall not particularly challenging while offering great views. Also not too crowded!

very easy trail but endured much rain and mud ( it is after all in a rain forest). the falls we're beautiful but they were roped off so no getting under them

the trail itself was very difficult to find and it was quite apparent that many hikers found different ways to get to the falls which were well worth it!

hey hiking ohau fans. I am looking for people who would like to join me on that. I will be in Ohau from the 8th until 21th of November. Hit me up on Insta @made86made. Would be amazing to meet some nice people and enjoy the hike - Marc
