Steep but short scree trail to a wonderful view. With the blowhole on your left, look right for the Maui Heart.

Great little trail. Beach is beautiful and not very crowded. Short hike down hill on the way there. A bit muddy, but possible for all ages at a steady pace.
Keep in mind when going to the rocks, that when the tide is high, the water is over them and not safe to travel. Be sure not to be over there when the tide comes in. Safety first.

A stunning hike. Parking is $25 (credit card only) but that buys you a three day pass to Haleakalā National Park, including the summit. If you have a National park pass or military ID, bring it for free admission. We arrived by around 12:00 and seemed to have beaten the crowd. The lot was packed by the time we were heading out, and the trail seemed to be getting pretty congested on the way down. After passing one dry waterfall half way in, we were worried that the higher falls would be dry also. They were not. Keep going — it’s worth it.

It’s not good right now, best time to go not in the winter. We went December 4, 2018. River is out off control, too much rain. You won’t be able to swim or get across. It’s dirty brown water raging rolling down. Upper water fall is closed. Tourists r everywhere it’s not good!

Short walk with a bit of a steep descent using ropes. If you’re fit and kids are 7+ this is totally worth the small adventure to get to the beach. Wear shoes as flip flops can be a little slippery when ground is wet.

When going to Secret Beach on Kauai, ensure that when you get down to the bottom of the trail and you see the winding river on the beach, that you go left and go all the way down to the rocks at the left. There you will find your own little tidal Pool and beach bubble bath. Melissa and I were lucky enough to have it to ourselves for an hour. Most of the other crowds just went to the beach right off of the trail and didn’t even know about this little oasis. There is a lot to discover on Kauai.

Absolutely stunning view worth the long drive. Make sure to see the Red Dirt Waterfall near it too.

One of the best hikes in Maui! Go past the sign and go all the way to the fall! Completely worth it!

Not a trail at all. But it’s worthy to spend 5 mins for this breathtaking view!!!

Nice and interesting trail through lava field. If you go to the old lighthouse, there are two pools on the way that are worth to stop and swim in them. Just go to the lighthouse and when you see small path leading to the right side, go for it and you will find them! Enjoy! :)

We went this trail when it was raining a lot but it was still very beautiful trail! There are few waterfalls along the way, you go through bamboo forest and there is so big and beuatiful tree on the way! The waterfall in the end is huge and amazing. Definitely worth it!

The hike is short and fun, steep and slippery (if it rains) but the beach is incredible. It’s secluded, with tidepools to splash in for weaker swimmers, killer waves for surfers, and a small cave if you want to bring some friends and build a fire. There’s a dramatic view of Kilauea lighthouse that sets the scene for a relaxing day at the beach.

Thank you to many who posted about this hike. I had picked a different hike, woke at 2:00 am. Read your reviews. We woke in the morning and I told my wife ,”Change of plans!! This was by far the best hike we have done ... the bamboo, ponds waterfalls EVERYTHING!! ALL TRAILS best app I have. We live in Vancouver BC use it there all the time. Been to Australia, used it there. Been to Indonesia, Bali and yup!! Used it there In New Zealand, used it to hike Rangitoto Island. We took trails no one else knew about (on that day)
Thank you all keep posting. People read and make decision based on your feed back !!!

great unique lava water ledge hike to an amazing blowhole and cool heart shaped lookthrough

I think it’s a very nice and short one. Easy to take good pictures. No need to bring water or snacks just your phone is required. I even saw people wearing sandals on the trail. Just come and spend 1 hour and it’s worth it!

Easy. Nice

Fairly easy rock hoping to get down and up, kids and seniors were n the trail. So, yes pretty easy. The blow hole and heart rock were cool to see, the heart rock was smaller than I thought. The blow hole is pretty easy to get great pics with.

Great spot near Lahaina! The blowhole is really cool and there’s a heart shaped rock down near the blowhole to get photos with. Very cool! I saw a lot of people wearing flip flops. I would highly recommend wearing tennis shoes or hiking shoes/boots as there’s no “trail”. It’s just pathways with rocks and down toward the blowhole the rocks get wet and are very slippery!!! Pretty steep going back up as well. Spectacular views!! Try to get there early as this is probably the most popular spot along this highway. We got there around 8am and it was perfect, by the time we left around 10am the place was packed and no parking available!

Loved this trail! It was mostly flat but navigating through the lava beds created a great workout. The olivine pools were beautiful, as was the rugged coastline. Make sure to take the spurs off the main trail to see the rugged, but gorgeous, cliffs along the ocean. A bit of rock scrambling on the spurs, but well worth it. Also there was a special viewing of some wildlife. I did not think the trail was as hot and sunny as stated, but I would recommend a hat and sunscreen.

A must do on the road to Hana!

Nice little trail, steep and rocky but easy enough to navigate even in sandles. Try the coconut water from the guy selling at the top delicious and refreshing. Blowhole and heart shaped gap in the rocks is cool for pictures. High tide is best for seeing the blow hole

One of the most amazing experiences of my life! Walking around the lush Maui forest in the rain through a massive Banyan tree, waterfalls, a bamboo forest that sounded like music az it swayed in the wind and rain, all kinds of Eucalyptus, including Rainbow Gum, which is my favorite.

There are steep areas, wet and slippery areas, and lots of mud so come prepared. Many areas are not accessible.

I’ve done this hike in 2014 and 2016. It goes through a cool bamboo forest and leads to a final waterfall. It is usually moderately crowded. The drive on the Road to Hana is half the fun, but I’d say don’t miss the cool side hikes. This is one I’d plan on doing bc it’s Haleakala National Park at the end of the road as a last stop before where most people turn back with their rental cars.
