Beautiful place to walk around and enjoy, the views of the Boston skyline are pretty amazing and I’m pretty sure its safe to swim in some parts. The only downside is it’s not free

You can easily spend the entire day on this trail. Many difficult slopes and interconnecting trails. I cast my vote to categorize this trail as 'Hard'.

One of my favorite destination whenever I am in the city. The Longfellow bridge has been renovated now so it's a nice scenic river walk. I enjoyed the Charles River Esplanade area the most and there is a nice children's playground that kids will enjoy. I also enjoy watching all the sail boats on the Charles River and all the busy tour duck boats.

The sunset from here is absolutely spectacular as I've seen it many times. The Storrow Drive side is definitely the more scenic side but the Memorial Drive side is pretty good as well. In the evening, you will generally find plenty of photographers doing long exposure photography of Boston's skyline.

This is a scenic and well-marked trail but unfortunately I had to turn back as I was swarmed by bugs despite multiple applications of 30% deet bug spray. Will return in a cooler, less buggy season.

Nice hike for the full day, very rocky indeed! We liked the view of Boston skyline at the top of the hills. We saw a really big snake, a deer, and on our way back heard some other animal roar and just ran along the trail to get away from that spot ASAP:) it was getting darker though, so I guess that’s why animals were coming closer with almost no people on the trail. So definitely a great trail, but better go in the morning-early afternoon to get back before dark.

This is no doubt a difficult trail: we kept joking that it goes uphill both ways , because it goes up and down a lot weather you’re going in or out. There’s a LOT and difficult areas with big rocks , this is definitely not for beginners or anyone with injuries : you could shorten it to any length you want because it is a loop you can just turn around when you’re halfway to what you want to do’ we did this in preparation for the Spartan Beast and it was a great workout with challenges !

The initial push up the hill can be a tad bit tricky, but nothing anyone can't handle. Big rocks to climb over and plenty of roots in some sections. Overall, I really nice hike and it wasn't too busy when we went.

Wonderful property. Started on north side and went into Trustees property too. All in there must be around 4,000 acres to explore. Worked my way around the pond then headed south to the reservoir and camping area. I wonder why that one area is closed off? Some of the single track is too rooty and rocky for my taste but it's good stuff. Will be back.

Fairly flat walk around Chestnut Hill Reservoir with occasional views of nearby buildings.

Should definitely be rated as strenuous. Mostly steep ups and downs with scattered, lose rocks. Only a few sections have rock stairs. Also my tracker said it was 13.7 miles not 11.9. Regardless of its challenge, the Skyline Trail is the most beautiful and exciting way to experience Blue Hills . It traverses all the best hills, most have views and some have open panoramic views. On a clear day you can see Boston and the ocean. Very easy trail to follow, just look for the blue blazes. Certainly worth the effort and I would definitely hike it again.

This trail is a good hike up. I love that it’s close by, easy access, can sometimes be a pain with parking on busy days. I like the option of climbing over rocks and a more adventurous ways up and down the mountain. Also good for strollers or elderly, with a paved path to walk up to. The hike up will make your blood pump, and be a decent work out.

moderate to difficult, very rocky

Didn’t get a chance to make the hike as we were greeted by an individual explaining to us that we needed to go back to the gate as we were not members and would therefore need to pay a fee... To go for a walk. No where on the way in does it state that you would need to pay which was why we were so surprised and to be honest, annoyed enough to just leave. No thank you. Plenty of other beautiful places in the area to walk and enjoy.

It would’ve been nice to know it cost money ahead of time. No thanks. Bye.

Gnarly rocky and rooty. If you’re not going up you’re going down or just about to do one or the other.

Spent hours roaming around, easy hike with beautiful views everywhere!

The charles is nice in winter or summer with rowing boat. Just like in movies

Not sure why it starts in west end, but nice path for running

Nice walk. Well planned park.

Nice trails, no markers but the place is small enough so it doesn’t matter. Rated easy for sure, but fun nonetheless. We also came across about a dozen deer, a really nice surprise.

lovely trail that's suitable for all ages.

Beautiful views, great workout over up and down rocky trail. Not for a beginner. The right shoes (hiking boots) make all the difference.

Easy, beautiful, great for the dog

Love this trail. Amazing views, and a great hike if you decide to do the whole trail.

A very rocky trail that will get your heart pumping. The trail is very well marked. I felt that if I was ever in doubt of the path direction I could be confident that if there was a choice between a smooth path or a rocky path the correct choice would always be the rocky path. The views at the top of the hills are not spectacular enough to put up with dealing with the constant rockiness.

very pretty, and wide, main trails. beautiful overlooks when atop the hills - which are gradual inclines. really love it here

Great spot for a family walk (with dog). There were several trails that you could access from the one parking area. We enjoyed the blue trail and got to see some boulders for the kids to climb and explore around. We encountered several other hikers many with dogs and ok friendly.

Quick and easy...great views!

This trail should be rated hard. It is very very rocky and has many steep grades both up-and-down. It is beautiful but can be challenging. It felt more like I was rock climbing then hiking on many parts of the trail. It is much harder then another trail I took that is rated hard. I'm not sure who does these ratings. A trekking pole would have helped me on this hike.
