Nice trail that is well kept & blazed. The view is nice

However, three issues.
1. I would just recommend you understand the blazing. It is blue white, till you cross another trail, then go right on blue for the rest except the blue yellow summit.
2. For the cutback, I didn't find the trail as shown so had to go about a quarter mile in the road - not bad, just free warned.
3. My GPS tracker shows 5 miles and I only went off maybe 200 yards, plus my cutback (2) was shorter.

I did about 4.5 miles here - nice winter hike! Trails extremely well marked. I wish I had enough time to do the whole thing. Will def be back!

Just beautiful. Refreshing. Serene

I’ve been hiking this trail since I was a little girl and it is always my go to favorite! Nice trail with great views of the valley, easy and fun!

been going there for over 30 years great hike!@

Great mountain, gorgeous views

Great hikes; fantastic views of most of CT

Hiked there today after a heavy rain last night until this morning.. water was flowing! Awesome.. hikes into woods and grabbed the orange marked trail then ventured off here and there.. went towards devils oven rocky and steep lots of voids under rocks wouldn’t personally do it in summer could b good spot for snakes..went back down and continued on orange trail didn’t hike whole trail but have plans to go back great hike well
Marked good views

Very nice trail. Nice colors.

Great hike, Idk what people are talking about. I thought the orange blazed trails were marked fine. I loved the waterfall and the running streams through the trail. A little bit of a workout but very peaceful.

this was leg 4 of the metacomet for me.started at res #6 in w hartford ended at rte6 in Farmington, 9 miles gorgeous dec day, nice hike

Markers need repainting. Beautiful gorge! Ice formations were great!

This is an out and back trail that has evolved into a loop, there are no more red blazes after you reach the top, there is a pretty well defined path and you can follow the map on this app.
I've been living close to sea level for a while so this one left me huffing and puffing a few times, not used to climbing.

Great hike for all levels. The view at the bottom of the lake is wonderful and the path along the lake is very peaceful. The climb to the top gives a great view!

I had trouble finding the path to the blue trail that brings on top... If taking the white trail longing the lake and then going on top of the mountain (to get on the blue trail), you will have to cross a small bridge and keep heading away from the lake for like 2min and then the blue marker will be on a tree on the right (the path is delimited with rocks that blend well in the scenery). Then just keep your head up to see the markers. Can be done within 2h.

Nice views from tower and nearby places. One of the best places in this area. Very busy during weekends, especially packed on parking lots.

Great day and hike. Enjoy

I gave 5 stars bc it is a great hike with great scenery. The trails are very well marked.

One of my favorite places for a fun quick easy outdoor walk. Beautiful views and the trails are always clean. Great options to up your hike by taking some other trails off the loop! Never kayaked in it but often see others enjoying the lake itself with fishing and dogs swimming!

Nice afternoon hike spot. Moderate hills, relatively easy trails with good markers. Beacon cap had nice view and place to relax before trekking back

Many trails. We completed the loop around the lake. It’s beautiful.

I have been hiking here for over 15 years... love this place

Great trails , awesome views .

Lots of dogs on Sunday.

Fun afternoon on a nice fall day. Trails weren’t marked well at a certain point and we only found the correct path by chance - definitely make sure to check where you’re going

The trail was very hard to navigate but the view was worth it once we found it. It was decently easy as far as endurance just a very steep walk to the oven and steep down from the view point.

Super duper pretty. Little confusing getting down (was with some randos who couldn’t find it either) but for the most part 99.99% well marked.

Take a picture of the trail map before you head out. Around the group campgrounds, the orange blazes disappear for some reason.

This hike ranks as one of our favorites. Fantastic views, we loved the long stretch of hike along the top of the peak. So many places to stop and take in the views.
