Harder Hikes To Do Map

Went last week to get a feel for the trail and made it just past Big Laurel Falls. Tough hike on the return though! Wish I had arrived a hour or two sooner to complete it. Will be back in a couple weeks!

Great hike! It’s a real workout

Great hike!! Strenuous at times, but worth it!

Superb hike! Wonderful views of the lake. The path could use some maintaining and the blazers could be more frequent.

Amazing spot! My tracker measured as 10.5 miles. Difficulty is correct & you hike uphill a significant part of the return. Be prepared & don’t make them rescue you from out here.

Difficult because of steepness at times but worth it for the views. I would recommend a walking stick, plenty of food, and plenty of water for the long journey. We started at the overlook and hiked 10km to defeated creek camp and 10 km back. It was about 12.5 miles round trip and took us about 6 1/2 hours.

it's a tough trail but worth it!

Tough going on the way back, but my middle and elementary school-aged kids did great. We went after a week of rain and the falls (all three you come to on the trail) were worth every step it took to get out and back.

We'll be going back to hike to some of the overlooks and explore the spurs.

It was challenging for me as I haven’t done that distance in years. The views were fantastic- great time of year (early March) for some bonus waterfalls. Great sense of accomplishment after completing the loop!

This was an extremely challenging trail, but it doesn’t get challenging until close to the actual falls and of course the OUT and UP part.

We dropped a car at the Tennessee side and drove back to Alabama side and started there so that we could through hike. I think the through hike was the best idea because we got to see different things which kept it rewarding rather than an out and back situation.

It’s worth it but if it’s rainy it is quite slippery and a little scary. Trekking poles or walking sticks are essential in this sort of situation and would help even if it’s dry when you go.

A beautiful place! Easy hike in strenuous hike out.

This is one of my favorite trails I have ever done!! Better marked than I was lead to believe, certainly some rock climbing/scaling and creek crossing! My feet were SOAKED! All of the amazing waterfalls along the way made the trail even better than the overlook! We stopped a lot as my partner is a photographer and we really wanted to take the time to look at and photograph everything. Staked out some really nice campsites for returning in the future! I agree with other reviewers who said if you have ONE day to hike in the area, this is the ONE!

This is one of the better hikes near Nashville, hands down. This one is not for beginners as it consists of a lot of elevation. Really some great views over the Cumberland. Will revisit in the coming Spring.

Great Hike! But would not give it a "hard" difficulty.

NOT A MOUNTAIN BIKING TRAIL. I carried my bike on my back for 6 miles because I kept thinking that “I’m sure it will become a bike trail ahead” NOPE

Great Hike! From the TN side, the trail is around 4 miles to the "Walls Of Jericho" section. The AL and TN trails meet at the Walls and it's around 1 mile or so from the Walls of Jericho sign to the actual falls. As others have mentioned, it's a steep climb on the way out!

gorgeous view at the overlook. worth the climb. whole trail is well worth the hike. a little bit of everything.

Amazing and beautiful hike with fun climbs..The distance is greater than 8mi total from the TN trailhead out and back ...and also other loop trails I noticed in the area. Hope to go back!!

Fantastic falls!! Made the trip when my dad was in town and we always do an annual hike. I had heard this was a good hike. I would say it is moderate but then again it was in February and wasn't hot out. I can see this being difficult in the summer heat. Make the time to go to the top. There isn't a really good view of the falls from there but the climb up and views are worth it.

Out & Back-5.6 mi. Moderate. Well marked. Trail in ok condition. Erosion in some sections. 0.3 mi from parking to trailhead. First mi easy up broad trail. Short .1 mi section beyond campsite steep/rocky. Remainder is steady mod climb to jxn with Chimney Top Tr. Hike along stream down low and mult waterfalls higher. Really nice after a recent rain. Trail is a stream on mult sections. Many wild boar. Pretty hike.

This is one of the most beautiful waterfalls I have ever seen. Great hike yet slippery. According to my GPS and the sign at the parking area, this is a 8.3 mile out and back hike so not sure where the 6 miles on this app came from but it’s longer than 6 on the Alabama trail head side. Either way it’s well worth it.

Hiked the Walls this Past Saturday and loved it! It was beautiful. Very well worth it!!

Good trail with great scenery. Hiked it on weekend and had a fair amount of traffic.

Great trail. The falls are so pretty after a rain event.

Challenging, but more of a moderate trail than hard! Beautiful sights, perfect distance. Worth it!

One of the best hikes in TN. Pay attention to the markers but the trail isn’t as poorly marked as other people say. Never seen so many different features on one trail. Really technical but not super difficult. Be ready to crawl and climb. If you’ve got one day to hike in Tennessee this should be where you go.

Stunning. Absolutely one of the best in Tennessee. My son and I had a complete blast hiking this trail!

My and my dog went. Amazing trail and we went after all the rain so it was that much more fun!!

Me and my friend went today! Gorgeous falls, gorgeous overlook, but the trails could have been marked better. We ended up getting lost twice, but finally made our way back!

It was great!!!!
