7:10 at the Trailhead. OMG Cold! This was our fastest time on this loop. 2:45 min. We did not pass a single person on the trail. The parking lot was empty. I guess the poor air quality from the fires is keeping everyone away. Seen a Peregren Falcon, Redtail hawk, and Wood Ducks in the creek. Also walking thru a ravine at about the 2.2 mile marker, had coyotes, several of them howling to each other on each side of the ravine. Super intense. Love this hike.

It’s a nice trail. Must be very hard to do it in summer as it gets very hot! Bring plenty of water and sunscreen.

This is a regular run for me. I usually start from the far end at Rancho Laguna Park and run counter clockwise to hit the big hill first. If time permits I might add on the Rimer Creek trail or continue on to Redwood Park. Great run most of the year, but can get muddy in winter and early spring. I’ve run it in all twelve months.

Nice open space on the edge of the city. While walking this trial came across Palace of Fine Arts which ended up being a stand out of my trip to San Francisco. Was a hidden oasis in the city after being amongst the towers in downtown for a week!

We hike every weekend and this is our favorite hikes. It's a good hike, your tired when your done. Most of all there are very few people. I think because you need a permit it may keep some away. We hike in a clockwise direction so we are in the shade for the back half of the hike. The first half is exposed, and you get the climb out of the way early. It also seems like the hikers on this trail are experienced hikers looking for solitude, not the Lafayette Reservoir loud mouths.

Right now in October there is a ton of wildlife. I seen two large Coyotes and many bird species, too many to count. Wood Ducks are kind of rare and they are always there. Always the white Pelicans, Cormorants, many waterfowl species, Red-tail Hawks, Canadian Geese and Song birds.

Easily one of the best three hour hikes in the East Bay. You can bring your dog. Start early to avoid the heat.

An easy flat urban walk along the beach from the SF bridge to the marina. Views of all sorts of activities going on on the water and the beach.

Took 2 dogs and was a challenging hike with steep hills. Wide paths and clearly mark. Shady tree landscape. Would do again

Yellow jackets!!!
Rattlesnakes!!!
Ticks!!!

Great for kids and exploring

Easy and nice views

Long enough and ends in a lake where you can buy things from a shop and swim

Not a lot of people is a +!
Lots of trash is a - !
View and birding is pretty good.
Hard to get past the smells of trash and dog waste.

Walking the dog here. Not planning on coming again.

Loved this trail and added a trip across the bridge and back! Wind much better on the return. Be careful of the tourist that don’t realize they are walking in the bike path. Ps easy ride with a little hill on the way up to the bridge

This trail was beautiful and great for a beginner!

this trail is overall beautiful. pass by the stream and be surrounded by redwoods. be prepared for some stretches without much trees and sun exposure in a sunny day during the Meadows Canyon Trail

Here's another vote for going clockwise and knocking the hardest hill out early in the hike. You need a permit which you can purchase online from EBMUD for $3. Beautiful views of the hills with lots of birds and lizards. I didn't see anyone else on the trail, although I did go mid-day on a hot Thursday. Big chunks of the trail don't have much shade so bring sunscreen, and plenty of water, especially if you go in the summer.

Really good moderate level hike.. as recommended start ur hike from the left side and then hike towards the lake so that u get the steep part early in the hike.nice views of the reservoir.. Part shade.. Start early so that it is not very hot. Nice clean wide trail. Use Alltrails to map urself on trail. Not many people on this trail.. It says u need EBMUD permit to hike here. Good31/2 hr hike.

Very nice trail with a good mix of views. Will definitely come again.

It is for the paved road running, not trail running. The loop is a perfect distance to train for a half Marathon. It is relatively flat, so I can maintain a very steady pace. The trail has enough barrier/room from the roads next to it, so the passing traffic doesn’t bother me, and there isn’t much car exhaust smell at all. I love it for a running trail (I probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much as a walking trail).

Awesome trail!

Hiked this trail looping the opposite way, which seemed easier in my opinion. Great views, loved the experience, however if you start mid-afternoon there are endless clouds of bugs in the forest areas by the creek. We spotted someone with a dog that was wearing a bug net around its face, and I wish I had done the same. Seems to be large knats, so nothing that seems to bite, but I kept a brisk pace through those parts just in case.

Great easy ride. Start left after the bridge to go through the industrial side first. The last half will then be a great view of the city and water.

This is a very nice well-paved trail with spectacular views of the bay. Great for walking or bike riding.

Great loop for a trail run. Not a ton of views but a good amount of sun/shade and change in terrain.

Last week, nice one-hour trail!

Great hike. We went early in the morning to beat the heat (which I highly recommend). Little shade on this hike but not much tall grass so it was great for my pup. Keep dogs on leash at all times, we had some snake sightings.
