Group Hike 2018 Map

Great views! a little bit of frost this time of year...I would recommend Hobart bluff trail if one were wanting to choose between the two trails!

Nice hike. Still very little snow. Gear: trail shoes, shell pants and top, thermal. Was upper twenties to start (9:30ish) and warmed up quickly. Trekking poles would have been nice. Once you are about a mile from the summit stay close to the ridge and avoid the scree field.

I went again after the first attempt and I can say this is my favorite trail so far. It is really hard and demanding and also dangerous. I agree with the fact that this trail could be marked better. Even when I loved the snow the first time I went, I would never do this trail in those conditions, following the trail in the snow is really complicated and it was overwhelming for me. The second time,I got lost twice, one in the way down from the top. Fortunately I was able to follow a group of ladies that guided me to the main trail. I was by myself and I started late, I would recommend to get there really early if it’s the first time, so you can have time in case you need it. Besides everything I said, I would do it again and again. Loved it!!

Great views of the lake

Always lovely, November 6th, little bit of mud in the beginning otherwise clear and beautiful.

Awesome variety of vegetation and terrain.

Great moderate hike with lovely views. So nice to be able to take our energetic pup, he loved it!

Nice trail, with a gradual incline to the lakes. Great views of the valley from a ridge. Beautiful Fall colors around the lake. Had the whole trail and the lakes to ourselves. What a peaceful place.

Views are awesome and very comfortable trail. Gets steep toward the end and somewhat sketchy. Hard coming down since its a constant decline.

unique area with great views. Leave dog at home:(

Great hike. Did it in mid October on a weekday, so there were very few people there. Yes, it is all uphill all the way to the top, but take your time and enjoy the views from every angle. It's a fairly steady climb and there is no scrambling. Well worth your time.

Difficult trail that starts out easy and exponentially slows to a crawl scrambling through boulders at the top. The trail could be marked better! There are white dots on the rocks for the middle third but are mainly on the uphill side. Only 10% are visible while ascending making it a bit hard to follow. Near the top markers consist of small red ribbons in the few trees. If the trail was better marked I would probably rate it 5 stars. Great workout. Scenery good but many others better.

Great long hike, easy assension to the top. Amazing views. Family and Dog friendly, easy parking too.

Fantastic hike! Great workout, beautiful views and the view at the top is worth the effort. I was hesitant to climb up the rocks at the end and make my way around the ridge, but with some encouragement from other hikers I decided to go for it and I’m so glad I did.

Great hike with worthwile views from the top! Seriously amazing. Not super hard but it’ll def increase your heart rate. GPS measures it closer to 11 miles. Well-maintained and easy to follow. When the trail forks in 3 different directions, go left!

Great workout and we had great weather. No wildlife spotted and views are limited to the open spaces. At the top, fabulous! The first third is strenuous due to gradient but the surface is great. Well marked path with options towards the top.
Lunch at the top is great.
We traveled to the trail head by RV- not recommended! The last 7 miles is gravely and narrow in places with logging trucks and a few hunters. Still a great day out.

Breathtaking views!! Pretty strenuous if unused to the altitude.

Amazing views at every mile!

We went today, there was a blizzard, it was crazy! We weren’t able to climb up to the summit due the lack of visibility. Hopefully next time. We got some awesome views from the ridgeline. Took us 7 hours both ways, but we didn’t get to the summit. I definitely need to come back to get there.

simply fantastic!

Great view of the lake and wildlife

Wonderful easy walk. Park at Woodruff bridge. Gorge starts about 1.5 mile from Woodruff bridge so you can walk as little as 3 miles and enjoy the river from calm to raging.

Great hike. Made it to the summit in 3.5 hours. That was with a few breaks here and there. Took us about 3 hours to make it back down after resting on top for 30 minutes. Would do it again for sure!

One of my favorites. The views are amazing. You have wonderful views from Ashland and Medford. You can see the stunning Mt. Shasta and Pilot Rock, so amazing! It is hard, but totally worth it!! Don’t go after 4:00, because you will encounter totally darkness in the way back :). It takes like 4.30 hours to complete it both ways. Don’t forget to sign the book!

The view from the top is excellent

Kind of hard to find the trail but the lake is great with good trout fishing.

It would be a mistake to believe that this trail flattens out after the first 3 miles...it definitely does not do that. It's a tough 5 miles up. We had a smokey view but it was a really satisfying hike that got the legs burning all the way up! So disappointed in people when you see the amount of trash along this trail, definitely not the Oregon spirit to be so disrespectful toward our natural resources.

very lovely

Hike for good exercise and the views of the rock ledge at end of mountain are amazing! Once you get to the “peak” keep going because the views aren’t there they are past the peak on a trail that takes you to the over look. Great exercise for moderate hikers and spectacular views!

simply spectacular. we totally scored with the weather. we were here last year same time and smoke from wildfires made visibility = zero, yesterday visibility was infinity. this is a must see must do hike.
