Hiking

this trail is awesome! the first little bit is paved and then it's an old dirt road most the way, so not too strenuous. the views at the top are amazing and there's some great lookouts on the way up as well. I hiked on 2/28/21 and only saw 5 people on the trail, all on my way down. this trail is great for a more secluded hike and is definitely one of my new favorites! most of the trail was covered in hard snow that was a little slick. I forgot my spikes in the car like a dumb dumb but managed just fine with my hiking boots and trekking poles. spikes would have made the whole hike much quicker, I'd definitely recommend them. snow near the top was a little harder to get through, but if you use the tracks previously made it's not bad at all. I will definitely be doing this hike again!

Snow/Ice on the majority of the trail, took a short cut to avoid the snow. We were hiking down in the evening so it had refrozen and was very slippery, micro spikes and gators would be perfect

Snow is clinging on to a deceptive depth at the end but the views are worth the effort.

Went mid February. Great hike with epic views at the top to reward you. Still lots of snow, a foot deep in places. Highly advise snow shoes. After the Forest Service Road the trail to the top is faint because the wind blows away tracks, so keep the AllTrails app open. If windy, be prepared. It was gusting at the summit to like 40 mph and quite chilly

A little slippery on the ice but overall a nice hike. Hardly saw anyone else there and the views of lake arrowhead and big bear were beautiful. Nice central spot to see them both!

Great trail. Fun in the snow. Free parking at trailhead. In neighborhood, an adventure.l pass is needed. This is a peaceful and not crowded peak. Not many people visit, which is perfect for us. Great day. Great workout. Beautiful views of big Bear lake and lake arrowhead. Loved this hike

We attempted this trail yesterday expecting to turn back anytime because of ice and snow. We made it almost all the way because the trail was mostly clear. We saw 4 people near the end of the hike, it was Christmas Day after all. Comments about the magnificent view are true. The quiet and isolation, stunning beauty, ease of access and the wide trail (most of the way) and dog friendliness make this one a winner!

The trail is on OHV road for about 90% of the hike, then fairly clear single track for the remainder. There are good views of the desert, San Gabriels, Big Bear and Arrowhead. Overall a nice little gem and worth doing.

Great hike, the last 1.5 miles towards the peak is tough.

Fantastic hike. Three things: Wear layers, cause the middle of the trail is hot in the sun, but the top is windy and exposed. We parked at the campground and walked through it. I’m glad we did it that way, the forest road we passed would have been difficult. Follow a map, there is one spot where I would have had to guess which direction to go, and I would have guessed wrong. Super awesome hike, very dog friendly.

I thought it was great hike. I tracked the trail (Thru my fitbit) beginning at the Green Valley Campground entrance and it said 8 miles roundtrip. The scenery was amazing. The forest ambience was in full effect and awesome. The trail needs to be cleared up in some spots because there are no markers to guide you. And when you arrive before the peak, you see the cairns but the path was bushy and thorny; it made it hard to notice the trail to the actual peak. Overall, it was a great hike. Good uphill rocky hike the last 1 mile to the peak. The views at peak was worth it tho. I'd give it 4.5/5.

beautiful hike with spectacular views above the cloud line. we saw the sea of clouds and views of green valley lake and big bear lake. Parking is right at the entrance of the campground where the information board is.

Gorgeous, and basically had the trail to myself! Starts in a more forested area, takes you through viewpoints and different terrain to an alpine lookout.

HikingGreat!

Did this hike a few weeks ago when it was still open. Really nice hike, not crowded at all, really nice views at the end. There is a bit of an incline at the end, as well as a steady incline throughout the hike. The trail was in really good shape, not overgrown in any part, and there wasn't any litter or graffiti from what I could see. Not too much shade for most of it, definitely recommend sunscreen and a hat.

This trail is gorgeous! The climbs towards the end of the “out” portion are no joke - steep and full of loose rocks. But the views all along the way are worth every drop of sweat. And even mid-Saturday, we saw barely anyone and folks kept their distance and masked up. Will be repeating this hike.
