Greater Ohio/driving distance Map

We hiked this trail on Christmas Eve. it was beautiful. The two mile main section is easy. Then there are two loops off the main section. The first loop is hard. it goes straight up the hill and is the steepest trail I've climbed (including grand canyon trails and rocky mountain trails). The second loop is moderate difficulty. Overall, it was a beautiful hike with just the right amount of challenge for us.

The trail was very well marked, which was a life saver in half a foot of snow!

My lazy three year old and active five year old enjoyed it. Nice gravel path, which makes it ideal for soggier days. And very clean bathrooms!

Great trail to hike!!!

Highbanks is one of the better running trails I've used in the Columbus area.

We always skipped Cantwell Cliffs because I thought it was a climbing area. We went today for the first time and loved it! We did both trails and will definitely recommend them to fellow hikers. A good place to bring trekking poles and waterproof shoes. Lots of weathered/steep stairs to navigate and several stream crossings.

Nice hike. Easy . Nice lake and some rock formations. Saw a few hikers.

I attempted this route but the markings are terrible. The blazes are white with (I would assume) the letter of the trail. But regardless the trail your on, it seems E is the only blaze you get. Why not use colored blazes.
Markings and blazes aside, I loved this location and now that I've somewhat figured it out, I will return again and again.

Close to 9 miles if you take all the loops. IMO one of the best day hikes in Ohio. Lots of ups and downs, big rocks and modest waterfalls, and great variety. There are a couple spectacular Sycamores by the old screen house that you don't see often.

An enjoyable hike within easy reach of Columbus. Doesn't deserve the hard rating; moderate would be more accurate. Nothing that was mind blowing, but we seemed to be the only ones out there, and were able to hike for hours. A restroom at one of the parking areas or at the ranger station would've been quite nice.
We also got the permit for the falls. I suppose it's worth seeing once, but we had over-hyped it in our minds, and were quite let down. If you could swim it would be a blast, but as it stands, it's about a ten foot tall waterfall that you can look at from a hundred feet away.
We'll be back to do the hike again, but we'll be skipping the falls next time.

Everything I could hope for out of a 5 mile hike, 45 minutes from home. The moderate rating seems quite accurate, as the trail ranges from gravel fire road, to steep single track. The climbs are enjoyably tough, and the view from the overlook was great.

Quiet little hike. Great natural play area for kids.

Great trail, I little wet this time of year. There are also a few downed trees between Cedar Falls and Ash Cave.

Went here for a quick run/hike for the first time today, despite growing up 20 minutes away, and I'm glad I did. lots of cut backs and dippity do's to keep it interesting. if you're a mountain biker for sure go hit that business, it's really made for that

Nice hike. Trails are well marked and easy to follow. Lots of elevation changes kept it interesting. Not a ton to see but still a nice quiet hike. We opted to get the permit for Robinson falls. It's helpful to know parking is directly before Zwickle Rd., it's like a single car spot. Beautiful spot within a couple mins of entering the preserve.

Great set of trails! Stunning views of sandstone cliffs, multiple waterfalls, a gorge view and gorge trails, a tunnel into the sandstone, and of course, the cave. Be aware construction is going on at the Visitor Center (Dec '18) and a couple exit trails are closed as a result, plus construction noise sucks.

Easiest and possibly one of the most beautiful spots in the Hocking Hills trail system. Trail is paved and handicap accessible. there is a small loop option for the fully-abled, to go into the cave and behind the waterfall. Have already been here a few times, even took my cat in his harness and leash - he loved it too.

Beautiful hike, but be aware that if you start at the Cedar Falls parking lot trail head, there are a LOT of steps with varying heights, from 3" to 12". They begin and end the hike. I would rate this trail moderate based on that.

Excellent hike. The slope up to both plateaus is quite steep. As good as it gets for a short hike.

we've been going here for years! never knew it was considered hard

Great place!

Beautiful overlook – the clearing takes you wonderfully by surprise. Haven’t seen a view like this in Ohio.

One of my favorite spots in Hocking Hills. They added a concrete wall inside of the formation to prevent you from climbing out on the edge now but you can easily hop over it. There’s an easy way there, and “difficult”. Views from here in the fall are spectacular!
