Did this and a little farther. Good views of the cascades. Went down in and hiked along the river as well.

This is one of my favorite hikes on the shore. My friend Scott introduced it to me. We set out on cold winters day to climb the waterfall at cut log. It was my first foray into ice climbing and I found it both exhilarating and terrifying. I have since returned several times to enjoy the path and the amazing trees found on the way. Though I’ve no intention of climbing the drip again, I hope that I may find myself back here again someday.

Gorgeous trail! Gorgeous waterfall!
Stairs, schmairs. Yes, there are 183 (we counted). Doable and worth it to see this phenomenon!

Great short and fun hike with an amazing reward of the Devils Kettle Falls. Impressive and a nice post breakfast walk. Lots of places to stop and rest with the stairs.

I would rate moderate....but loved the hike and view

Parking is across road from trailhead. Entrance had gorgeous wildflowers in July. beginning of trail is easy and maintained with chipped wood. great views of the river. Further up trail is steep with views of the ravine and several falls. Some sections are moderate. We went as far as the bridge. leas than 1 mile. Connects to Superior trail. lots of fun.

Start at Woods Creek, walk along Devils Track, and up to the summit on Pincushion and you will not be disappointed.

A beautiful hike which provided moderate difficulty for my friends and I. It should be noted that there is an extended uphill walk followed by about 200 stairs down, then another sharp climb before you’re able to look down on the kettle. Keep in mind you have to do this again on the way out :)

The Pincushion Mountain trails are great for skiing, but a little boring for hiking--wide grassy trails. There are great views from the overlook. The trail along the Devil Track River is much more interesting.

Lovely trail. It took me about 4.5 hours for a leisurely hike. The Trout Creek bridge is out, but today (June 26, 2018) the creek was dry, so I could walk right across. If it has rained, check http://www.superiorhiking.org for conditions before you go. Edit: after hiking some trails in the Rockies, I’d rate this one as moderate or even easy.

A beautiful well groomed trail and amazing scenery. Worked well for adults and kids ages 2-5.

Lots of stairs but very short ways to the falls. So cool!

I was not prepared for a hike..it was a spur of the moment idea with friends. I was in jeans and sandals. It was not an easy feat for us (being unprepared and all) but it was beautiful.

I agree I think this trail is a moderate , I won't say easy peasy ,but in the spring so cool

Sweet waterfalls, lots of stairs! Worth the hike

This was an awesome hike for winter, if you walked inside the actual gorge. The river is mostly frozen over and provides a completely different kind of hike. It wasn’t a hard hike, but wasn’t for the faint of heart as sometimes as you could see the water flowing under the ice. Wearing ice cleats helped a lot too.

This is a spectacular viewing hike. If you manage to go in the fall, when the leaves are turning, you are in for a treat. This hike was my welcome to Minnesota, and I am glad. The hike involves 15 unrelenting flights of stairs going down (which means going up on the way out), as well as plenty of other sets of steps. If someone in your party might have difficulty with the elevation changes, consider carefully. There are a few benches along the way.

The Trout Creek bridge on the west side of the Cascade River is out and the creek can't be crossed due to recent heavy rain. As a result, west side of this loop trail is currently inaccessible.

Easy and beautiful. I need to bring my Chacos next time, definitely wished I could have hiked in the gorge/river.

Pincushion Overlook is breathtaking.

Nice loop or you can shuttle if you want to go one way only. Beautiful trail along the river.

I wouldn't say this trail is 'easy'. It's a clear path most of the way but there are 200ish stairs one needs to climb both in and out to see the Devils Kettle. However, the cauldron is beautiful and no one knows where the water goes that actually goes into the cauldron. Strange???

Awesome hike. Lucked out on a great day. Highly recommend.

Nice quick hike for families with kids. Not many river views, but can always hear water, which is nice. Well maintained trail.

Beautiful to see!

Great Hike, went with my family ages ranged from 3-57 all really enjoyed it. Make sure you take the little offshoot trails down to the river they are awesome!

I'd recommend going straight to Pincushion overlook. We did most of the cross country ski trail, and it gets a bit redundant. The pincushion overlook is amazing though, and the cross country ski trails were great with the dogs, just won't do them as long next time :).
