This is a nice hike with some gentle rolling hills. If you walk counterclockwise you come to a Farmington River overlook after about a mile. There are new trail markers so the trail is easy to follow with the markers and AllTrails.
Love it!
Crampons were an absolute lifesaver on this trail. Absolutely beautiful views, I’ll need to check this one out in the spring to see the full effects of the waterfall, currently mostly frozen but still, stunning.
Nice flat easy walk
Took the loop past the trail towards Lara Tower, then on to Ice Glen. The trail passes through predominantly white pine forest until you get to the Glen, which is framed by hemlocks on either side. There's an old stone inscription marking the donation of the Ice Glen to the people of Stockbridge. Excellent short outing, suitable for younger children. Lots of parking.
Very easy. Nice view quick hike.
Hiking with a friend. Just technical enough.
Well packed snow all the way up to the first lookout.
Great trail, fairly easy to follow. It goes up the spine of the mountain. There are very nice views right at the edge of a cliff but you need to search for it, its not on the beaten path. The step part of the trail is in full sun. Be cautious because snakes warm themselves up on the rocks. There are rattle snakes in the area.
They did a great job of plowing the trail
We cut the trail in with the fresh snow. 8” minimum to up to knees. It really kicked our arse.
Red loop looks okay, blue side is not packed yet after 1/18/21 snow storm
Snowshoes recommended.
Pretty difficult with 18 inches or more of snow on the ground.
