Did this hike with my 2 year old & 5 year old sons. They had fun splashing in the creek & with the hike. The little one got tired on the way back & needed to be carried. The last short leg of the hike, down to the cascade, is a bit steep. Overall a nice walk

Easy hike it’s a bit too close to roads and civilization for a true hike. The trail is very well kept.

This was a good hike. We took the dog and had a good time. We crossed roads a few times, which I didn't love, but it was enjoyable all the same. We went clockwise and had no complaints.

This is a great hike close to home. The trail is not cleaned up of branches and fallen trees regularly but I don’t mind. The lake is beautiful.

This is the place where lot of marathon runners train.

Great for walking and running. Sometimes there are too many bikers which can be annoying if you’re running or walking. Lots of shade and a few bathrooms available.

I'm pretty much a beginner at mountain bikeing. I had a lot of fun here, It's not to difficult, but it was 94 dehrees out and had a good workout after an hour of this trail and doing the apple orchard trail twice. No other bikes out during the week day I was there which was nice because I'm pretty slow. Easier then fountain head which was nice, lots of rolling sections.

Great Trail!

While not necessarily jaw-dropping, this is a very pretty short hike. Note: when you get to the river, cross the water and turn left. The real waterfall is still a quarter mile or so upstream!

Beautiful place with lots of trails to choose from and all lead to gorgeous hikes!

I was aiming for a 20K trail-running PR today. It’s been raining cats and dogs, pigs, and cows, all week. I wish I had taken that into account more.

Aside from the course being very poorly marked with virtually no blazes or markings, which is why I rate it 3 stars, there is no forewarning that the trail is in a flood area. As far as I know there were no prior flood warnings announced. Perhaps there were in Fairfax County and in Northern Virginia, or perhaps I missed the announcements up here in the Baltimore County area.

Howbeit, this literally turned out to be one of the worst days to run a 20K, period. I ran right into above knee-high flooding when I got to the Difficult Run portion of the course. See my recording — I took a photo of this disaster. I was actually going to continue running through the flood which went on for miles, but the flood height would not relent — knee high and below is probably okay but still a risk, but thigh high is not a good idea at all. One simple cannot see all the under water snakes, rats, and other biting creatures trying to survive after being swept away by flood waters. Also, one runs the risk of being swept away by ensuing rapids. It’s just not a good idea.

I had no choice but to take a detour out of the park altogether onto the closest nearby road. I still managed to get in 10 miles; so at least I got in some weekly mileage.

It was only after I finished that I found out that this trail is in a high-risk flood area, and there was a news announcement 3 days ago. Here’s the web link: https://www.nbcwashington.com/weather/stories/Rain-Continues-Flooding-a-Concern-in-Parts-of-the-Area-482769511.html

ADVANCED WARNING: If you plan to run this course and it has been raining, do yourself a favor and find out the conditions of the course before launching out. Maybe I’ll return to complete the course, but I will ensure the area is completely dry first. Ugghh!!!

Enjoyable, hiked part of it with my friends and our dogs. Everyone had fun, water is good to cool off in

Fun time, nice to have a creek so the dog can cool off. Easy loop

Absolutely beautiful and I plan to come back. I didn't know that I had to pay 10$ because I don't live in Fairfax but it was definitely worth the 10$! I will definitely visit again.

My go-to place for hiking, walking the dogs or running. Fairly easy and flat 4.7 mile trail. Go early as gets busy on nice and sunny days. Free for fairfax county residents ($10 for non-residents).

$10 fee to get into the park for non residents

There were many trails to choose from. Grab a map! Great hike.

Great place! In my opinion, it’s much nicer to visit on a bad weather day or week day when it’s less crowded. It can be tough to get through large groups of people bc not everyone shares the trail. I like to connect the lakes and get around 11 miles to run to Mercer and back to the lot. -that is my fave FFX run! I do it 2x a week.

Nice 2 mile trail that leads to a pretty cool small water fall. It was great for my 2 Goldenretrievers and one of them is just a pup. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that the end of the trail was blocked with trees and there was no getting around them.

Awesome to learn something new and hangout with friends and family

A nice afternoon hike that is just a short distance from DC. If you have time, the Shenandoahs are only 90 minutes away and so much better, but sometimes you only have an afternoon or just cannot get to the Shenandoahs. This hike is a great close in one in DC with good streams and more solitude than you would expect.

Pretty easy hike. There's a couple steep hills, but nothing too strenuous. There's not much to see, so it drags a bit. Not sure if someone else covered this, but you take two other trails from the parking lot to get to the trail. It's a good trail if you're just trying to get some miles in.

Excellent trail for running. Easy and wide for passing. Beautiful too.

Trail has mis-marking. Overall a great trail though.

lucky to have this park near our home.
love creek

Dog friendly hike! Not too crowded.

Trail is very well maintained, the blazes could be a little easier to find in some spots though. Really enjoyed the hike, no traffic on a Thursday afternoon.

Hiked this about a year ago. Very easy. Bonus-Geocache along the way.
