I walked this trail 12/17/18 and it’s a beautiful trail. The trail was snow packed with patches of ice but easily trekked.

Patches of ice (Dec 18) but I was fine with hiking boots. Trekking poles or YakTracks would be helpful. I've done this hike many times. Enjoy it everytime!

Hiked 12/16/18 - Some icy patches in the dark spots but the majority of the trail is dry. No traction needed. Hiked counter clockwise on the Mt. Galbraith Loop. From the north end of the loop we very naturally found ourselves on a well traveled social trail which made it's way up Galbraith's north ridge right up to the summit (Not shown on this map). We came down from the summit in a Northeaster direction (trail is shown on this map) to re-join the Galbraith Loop trail on the easternmost part of the loop. BTW the best views are on that easternmost edge of the loop! We took our time by spending 45 minutes relaxing on the summit and another 15 taking in the views on the east side of the loop. That said the whole hike took us 3 hrs. So very possible to do this in 2 hrs or less is you move continuous.

such a nice hike. pretty easy. can get a bit icy in spots, didn't need spikes but they were nice in one little stretch. great close front range trail.

Great place to hike with the dog off leash. Crampons would have been useful today (mid December) at the higher elevation but we were okay without them. Recommend to dog owners.

Dec 15. Sections of ice.

Hiked 12/7. This is a challenging uphill trail. We are experienced hikers from Boulder and we’re still out of breath! Must use spikes or some kind. You would not be able to use snowshoes. Totally worth the effort - we had the lake all to ourselves and it is just as gorgeous, probably more so, than the photos show. Recommend continuing up to spouting rock after visiting the lake - it’s about a 2 minute walk up to a beautiful waterfall. One thing that doesn’t get mentioned often about this trail is the canyon - it’s stunning, especially in the snow. This hike is definitely worth the hype!

Sunday 12/16 - hardcore ice on Cedar Gulch.

this is a great creek trail that fallows the valley up. we did this hike with show on the ground and several frozen spots in the creek loved it.

I’ve done this one a few times and it’s a nice hike close to the city. You DEFINITELY need micro spikes now! Lots of thick icy spots!

Went early Sunday morning (12/9). Microspikes would have been nice, but by no means did you NEED them. 90% of the hikers were wearing tennis shoes (including me). Just take it slow if you are nervous about slipping.

My brother and I have visited this trail twice. The first time we only made it to the first lake because of weather we had to turn back.

We returned on Sept 2018 to backpack the whole 14 mile trail. Taking our time to enjoy the beautiful views and as well as cooking and drinking coffee we camped 2 nights. This was an amazing trip that sparked a huge love for backpacking. With encounters with birds who became our friends ( even eating from our hands ) going inside creepy bear caves and also being woken up by a family of mountain goats. We posted an awesome video of our trip if you want to check it out. https://youtu.be/6wEVmrBTh1M

Nice trail and not busy at all this time of year. Completed yesterday and the views at the top are well worth the short hike up. Icy in some areas but you don't really need spikes if you just tread carefully around the icy areas. I took them just in case but never used them.

Pretty easy trail, enjoyable at the top. Would be beautiful during Aspen season!

It was pretty, a little overrated. There are prettier hikes of that distance and difficulty at Cheyenne Canon.

long hike but well worth the veiw from the top did it in sept had nice weather

On a beautiful Sunday, it was relatively calm and I had the trail to myself for large portions of the trip although traffic increased toward late morning. Packed snow after the final creek crossing and used traction for most of the ascent. Removed for the downclimbing rock scramble 'cause the rocks were clear then put them back on for the last portion to the Arch. Repeated on the descent.

Great hike! Nice views of Golden and Denver. Some icy patches so be careful but you don’t need snow shoes yet. Some tight and rocky spots, easy hike close but not too close to the city.

Fabulous! Parking spaces open when we arrived at 9 am. Spikes until the last mile and then it got deep and tricky. Super windy at the lake but lovely. Snow shoes necessary to get to the lake. Took us 3.5 hours to finish! Awesome day!

I went to hike this yesterday morning/early afternoon (12/7/2018) and the road we came in on was closed about 6 miles out. I did not try to loop around to the west nor did I head back east to go over and up and see if that pass was open. Beware.

Beautiful winter trail! Did this trail today and the snow was perfect. Snowshoes were definitely helpful, but can easily be done using only spikes. This took us around 4 hours round trip with plenty of photo stops and a little break up top. A good moderate hike

Awesome hike!

Super easy and super beautiful.

My husband and I did this hike yesterday afternoon. We were surprised to see only two other cars at the trailhead when we arrived a around 12:30pm. We saw two hikers on the way to the lake and then had lake/waterfall to ourselves. I thought for sure it would be crowded and was happy to be wrong. The trail was snow packed. Visually, it looked like a winter-wonderland. The trees were lightly dusted in snow. We both had our yaktraks on and I was thankful for them multiple times throughout the hike. Definitely some slippery spots, especially on the way back down.

Icy in spots but clear path overall; wore traction going down. Beautiful trail

Great moderate hike. Not much snow today. took about 2 hours including a break at the top and I had a baby on my back. A great view once you get to the top and some nice aspens along the way....somebody even left a pre-rolled out there.

Only saw a few people in the distance on this one. not much traffic on Friday at 1pm.

I love this place

Beautiful hike! Easy! Great views!!!

Easy hike close to the city.

My husband and baby went snowshoeing here today; it's a long-shot, but he lost his car keys. Old beat up key for a Scion tC, safety pin, house key, and a silver metal flash drive. If anyone happens out there tomorrow and sees them, please let me know! RhiannonDean07 @ gmail
