Hiking

- Very rocky, need hiking boots. - No shade all the way, but you’ll be facing northeast on the way up so you won’t have to face the sun which is nice:) - Easy to get off trail especially on the way down. - Maybe wouldn’t recommend to go alone. Only saw 3 groups of people during the hike.

Gradual climb. Lots of ~2” diameter rocks on the trail.

HikingGreat!

Incredible hike, spectacular views, we’ve hiked 4 days in a row and this was by far the best. There are 10 parking spots at the Marina across the street look for the yellow signs on the fence closest to the road. Got there at 5:50AM on a Thursday in mid April had shade for the out and some shade on the back. Took 3 hours with 30 minutes spent sitting at viewpoint. Did not see one other person the entire hike and there were no other cars parked when we returned. Highly recommend worth the drive if you’re coming from Phoenix etc. Ghostown on the way out had legit coffee.

HikingGreat!

Awesome trail that wasn’t crowded at all got to the trailhead at 6:30 am and took an extension to make it longer. Ran into a coyote in the middle of the trail. Great adventure filled day.

Fairly easy hike with great views. Very little shade throughout so starting earlier is better.

As others said, it was very rocky and hard to get good footing. However, it was very quiet and we saw lots of wildlife (mostly rabbits). The views were pretty good, and that last 1/2 mile up was a fun kick to the butt! It was not my favorite, and I probably wouldn't do it again, but all in all, it was good.

Well that was fun! Pretty easy the first mile on Jacob's Crosscut. When you get to Monument Canyon trail, it gets a little steeper, narrower, rockier, and cactus-ier, so pay attention to your surroundings. That last .25 mile is a BEAST! One foot in front of the other, you can make it. I saw a lot of unprepared hikers. THERE IS ALMOST NO SHADE UNTIL YOU GET TO THE CAVE! One couple I talked to on my way down only had 32 ounces of water each, and my brain was like, "omg you half baked potatoes, that's not enough!" But my mouth was like, "ok, be safe". I hope they were alright. Bring at least 2 liters of water and sunscreen for this hike.

HikingGreat!

Nice little hike to a great view. Cacti along the way were healthy and green. Yes, rocky but very slight grade until heading up to the cave and that was short. Really enjoyed it.

Beautiful hike! My recording stopped at the viewpoint so it only captured half the hike, but it's right about 5.2 miles roundtrip. Take plenty of water, it's pretty exposed on the way back!

Very Rocky!!! I underestimated the rocky terrain. Not a lot of shade. It was a decent hike. Glad to mark it off my list, but probably won’t do it again.

PROS-Very beautiful trail, lots of wildlife and plant life, scenic views and tons to explore. Beautiful view of the valley from the cave. CONS-Not sure I’d do this trail again. Very rocky, make sure you wear good hiking shoes and use poles if you need extra support. This trail is tough on the joints. Lots of loose rocks, so look where you step, go slow coming down from the cave it is very steep and slippery. Trail to cave isn’t marked- Turn right at the rock pyramid to follow the trail to Broadway cave.

Hiking

Lightly trafficked trail that follows along the wash, out and back. Trekking in farther looks to loop around a small rock formation. Beautiful scenery especially in earlier or later hours. Dogs on leashes.

Very rocky wash for about three force of the trail. End of the trail had a bit of an incline for about half a mile. Trail coming back down was very rocky and sandy, quite steep. The cave had an amazing view but not sure that I’d do this one again.

It’s a steep hike with an awesome reward. Haven’t been hiking too much lately so I’m sore but I can’t wait to do it again.

Beautiful views! The first 1.5 miles is very rocky and uphill, but you get awarded with a view of Weavers Needle. The second half levels out and drops into the canyon.
