It takes a bit of effort to get to this one, but it's worth it for the payoff.

You have to park on a one-way road and walk about 50 yards through an un-shaded area to get to the trail. (The parking lot in the directions is closed).

Once in the trees, it's very cool and you can hear the water. You can see the waterfall about a quarter of a mile in, and the trail is easy up until that point.

After the first lookout, you climb up stone steps to the top of the waterfall. Keep going further and there is an area you can swim in.

There was another trail branching of that had a blank sign No idea where that went.

Please tell people it costs $21 PER PERSON to hike here! This is absolutely ridiculous.

Took the dogs (chihuahuas) & walked in Birkenstocks. The parking area was closed so parked on the road.

We went there looking for a hiking trail. Turns out it is a canoeing / boating trail on a lake.

Great hike! The trip out on Overlook carriage road is easily managed and wide. Good views along the way. The Old Minnewaska trail is smaller foot path, beautiful forest scenery. Our mistake not needing the signs: took a stroller on Old Minnewaska, don't do that... The signs were not kidding: foot path only. Beautiful hike and kid friendly but wear long pants, can be slightly overgrown. Last leg 0.5 mi on red trail Shongum can be moderately difficult, with some scrambling over rocks, walking on planks over muddy areas. If that happens and some of your party doesn't want to continue that last 0.5 mi, you can send someone back to the parking lot at West Trapps and drive to Coxing to pick everyone else up

Nice views took my 10 year old son on a bike ride some of the man made wood walk paths are hard to ride and missing some planks in a lot of places but over all it was fun and peaceful lots Of thorn bushes so make sure you wear long pants

Nice little hike. Easy enough for kids!

We parked in a small lot at the end of Pine road. The trail to the pond is an old carriage road and is wheelchair accessible. The trail around the pond is uneven and narrow and would not be accessible to wheelchairs, but will be fine for children and people with minor difficulties walking.

We didn't see any ducks, but we did see a truly massive old snapping turtle rooting around in the lake shallows, as well as a green frog and some birds darting around over the surface of the lake. A number of friendly Mohonk Preserve volunteers were there, walking their dogs or just enjoying the late-afternoon light.

This trail is not dog friendly. Part of it goes through the hotel property, which doesn't allow dogs.

Beautifully peaceful in any season. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an easy, calm adventure with breathtaking views. Animal friendly as well!

Really nice hike, beautiful day. Lots of little trails. You can just wander around and explore. We went up to the tower. It was quite windy at the tower. We had a free pass otherwise its $21 per person.

Great to see the bald eagle soaring above the lake.

Beautiful views all along the trail with some spectacular panoramas

Beautiful views

Easy and nice views

Beautiful area but this is NOT a hiking trail. It definitely should be specified in the description

perfect walk for all seasons with paved even path. Great opportunity to see an eagle soar by.

Nice hike to the top of Skytop Mountain. The ascent is steady, but moderate, and it provides great views of Mohonk Lake and Mohonk Mountain House from the beginning. There are several gazebos on the way up, which provide nice resting spots to catch your breath and enjoy the view. At the top, there is a stone tower that provides excellent views of the surrounding countryside, including the Walkill River Valley and the Catskills. There are several cliffs very near the trail, so I would not recommend this trail to people with a fear of heights.

Just a warning, if you aren’t staying at the hotel, the hike is a little longer. They have you starting at the entrance to the preserve. But it’s worth it for the scenery and awesome views.

Skied this yesterday. Mostly flat, though there are a few gentle hills. Amazing views.

$21 per person to park!!

This is a nice trail with great views all around

Very easy way to get around Mohonk.

Not difficult, and beautiful views. We got there around 12 and lucked out with parking. There are restrooms in the parking lot, and the parking lot accepts credit cards ($15 per hiker). The trail is really a wide carriage road, so is very easy to walk. Many trail runners and bikers along the way.
If you're up for adding on about 2 extra miles, take the Old Minewaska Road to see Mohonk Lake. This part is hilly and somewhat steep, but nothing too difficult.

Had beautiful autumn views of the Catskill Mountain range on our recent walk. Would love to return with a bike. As it is unshaded and paved it may be a bit much during the dog days of summer
