Wonderful hike easy for the kids!

Did this hike today and it was very very nice!!! A little muddy, but that’s ok. Very pretty peaceful hike only saw a couple others on the trail. It’s worth it to hike the extra mile to the second lake. It was fairly easy for the most part. A couple spots had your heart pumpin, but other than that it was very mild. The sounds of the water were so calming and it was very well maintained!! Had a great time!!!’

Nice trail in the woods. At campgrounds has great views to Mount Baker.

Beautiful, well maintained trail alongside a river. Slightly muddy but nothing too bad. The waterfall is beautiful and you can get pretty close.

This is a wonderful hike up around the big trees and river with some waterfalls. We really enjoyed a hike that was a little less vertical and a slower pace to look at cool mushrooms and very green moss and ferns. The loop down by the lake had water over it and we had to wade through it. so I say take the road back to the lodge.

The trail was beautiful and the creeks were flowing fast. Lots to see! The lakes were peaceful and surrounded by snow dusted trees. The snow was just a dusting but the trail was very wet up top and some deep mud in places so watch your step! I would say this is an easy-moderate hike. This would be a good hike for families as there are flat spots in-between the switchbacks. The trail was closer to 6 miles. Great late fall hike!

**You will be on the old trail because the new one is under construction but it is well kept and meets right back up with the mapped trail.

I don’t know what on Earth would possess someone to rate this trail at anything less than 5 stars. It was the most wondrous place my wife and I have ever been. I’ve been to Zion, Acadia, Mt. Hood, etc. For my taste, this is the best there is.

This is a pretty cool hike.

Wonderful hike with an amazing view of Mt Rainier at the peak.

However, the main road to the trailhead is closed for the season. We did not know this. So it was an additional 5 miles from the parking lot to trailhead.

All in all an extra 10 miles, but it was worth it.

This is always my go to trail to just get away from people. You'll maybe see 6 or so people the entire trip. Lots of places to camp and plenty is space between camp sites giving you the solitude you want!

10/19 (Fri midday): Picture perfect views at the peak and all along the way. We had a clear, sunny, warm autumn day with no wind. Not one, but two clear blue lakes along a mostly flat trail to a short, steep climb to the peak/fire lookout and stunning Mt Rainier looming super large, so close you could almost touch. Big wow for my east coast guests. Popular hike but not overrun. All mountain hikes I know require driving a long gravel road like this route in, so not sure why everyone is so freaked out by it? Road is in great shape and well maintained, as you would expect with a back road in any National Park. Handled it in a rented Impala no problemo.

I did this during the summer and it was definitely worth it. The views when you get on top are awesome! Before you get back to your car, stop by Mowich Lake and check it out.

I hiked this trail in mid October on a foggy-turned-sunny day with a couple friends. The views were spectacular. Mt. Rainier consumes half your view when you get to the top and St. Helens is off to the west. The hike was really easy and fast so it's a great hike for a half day instead of a full day. Also, the dirt road leading to the trail is long but wide and well kept. I took my Ford Fusion up it at 25 mph no problems.

A must do hike if you live in Washington or Seattle! Great views of greenish blue lakes break up the hike on the way up. Not a super long hike - once you hit Eunice lake, it gets steeper but not long to the top. Amazing view from the peak of Mount Rainier! Drive in gets bumpy about 45+ minutes from trail head.

When we got to the lake it was nice and sunny, but not much longer when we got to the peak the fog had come up so fast we - couldn’t see anything

We hiked the trail on a beautiful sunny day and the scenery was gorgeous. The 10+ mile gravel road is like a wash board in many areas but there are few potholes. A truck or SUV will have no trouble. A car will have a bumpy, slower trip. It took our group of three 60 year olds and two 30 year olds about 4 hours to do the round trip. We took a lot of breaks, pictures, and had lunch at the fire lookout. The rating of moderate is accurate for this trail.

Walked the first mile to Devil’s Punchbowl. Gorgeous when you get there and well worth the walk, but otherwise a lackluster hike on gravel.

Great quick hike to a beautiful looking spot by the falls. Easy and well maintained trail. A few steps and incline towards the end, but worth it for the views.

Wonderful hike. The trail is very well maintained. Took my 72 year old, fit friend, and 60 yo sister. Both handled the 1200+ feet elevation without a problem at a moderate pace. The view of the lakes is lovely. As seasoned hiker would find this hike easy and would be up in back in a few hours, we took 5 1/2.

Amazing hike.
The trail is not as hard as it looks from its distance because the first 1.4 miles are flat or downhill.
Rainier view are along several points of the trail, and the view at the top is stunning.

Absolutely magnificent trail. Would highly recommend during the fall season. It took us 2+1+1.5 hrs car to car. It’s an easy hike which is kid and pet friendly. However the drive till there can be tiresome once the gravel road starts.

Awesome trail! It took me approx 1 hr 10 min to get to the top, got quite steep in some parts but so worth it! Hardly anybody on the trail in the morning. I ate lunch at the lookout just admiring beautiful Mt Ranier! and some birds came and tried to steal my food

Great hike.. beautiful views! Thank you Jah. The reviews make it sound much worse (as far as the road goes). 10-15-18

Loved this train. With amazing views and reaching the lakes and then back. All in one and yet not do difficult.

10/15- Beautiful hike! Definitely some elevation gain, but the views are worth it. :) We did not encounter bugs, and the trail was not crowded. Autumn seems like the perfect time to hike the trail! The drive to the trailhead was a little rough; it adds a good amount of time to the commute.

Beautiful fall hike in the woods..trail is in
amazing shape..be sure friends are not afraid to cross bridges..the first bridge is very slanted but secure..icy in the AM. But so worth it all .Great Hike!

Excellent option when the Hoh was closed down. Still get a good flavor of rainforest on a very easy trek. Dog friendly, on leash of course.
