HikingGreat!

We really enjoyed this trail. We parked at Macdonald Lodge and took the road (since the roads closed to vehicles right now) to where John’s Lake loop comes out on the road (right) and merges across the road into a section of MacDonald (left). We went left and followed the trail until we got to the dirt toad and bridge that takes you to the actual trailhead. We went to the end of MacDonald and then on our way back did the John’s Lake section to Sperry Creek trail which takes you right back to the parking area of MacDonald lodge. That beat taking the road all the way back. Super gorgeous hike and we saw no people until we got onto the Sperry Creek section.

This is a beautiful trail, worth taking, with amazing views, however, it is not the length listed on All Trails. To just the halfway point, it is just over 4.5 miles. It's another more than 3 or 4 miles to the end. The halfway point is the only spot where this trail connects to the road other than the beginning of the trail. This is not a safe trail to bring small children on. I'm not sure if maybe too much of the trail has been washed away in recent storms or they've eroded for other reasons, but there are so many spaces where we had to walk single file across slippery, moss covered rocks with a tree lined tall slope on one side and a sheer cliff face dropping straight onto huge boulders on the other. If you can bring a small child on this trail, you are a far more trusting parent than I.

It was amazing! All the views: serene lake, loud rushing water, small waterfall like areas, silent woods. Pretty easy, even with a kid strapped on your back. 10/10 recommend. Will go back someday.

Fun, easy walk through the woods. The smell of the cedars is reward enough.

Nature tripsGreat!Snow

Mountain goats and plenty snow almost year round! Snowball fight in August anyone? Beautiful valleys. Vast spread of beauty with mountains, trees, lakes, and open meadows.

Beautiful end to an easy trail with constant views. We were fortunate to see multiple mountain goats. Lots of people, so get there early if you don't want to be circling for a spot forever.

the road itself was closed to the trail, so we had to walk an additional mile or more just to get to the trail. But it’s a pretty one :) winter wonderland.

12/16 Sweet little trail along the creek! Not too much snow or ice yet and able to be completed without snowshoes or poles. We saw no one else on the trail and enjoyed the peaceful views!

Easy trail with beautiful scenery and water features. Only saw 2 other people on the trail first weekend in November.

Nice trail for a nature walk and I’m glad I did it, but not one I would do a second time. There are much better hikes in the park.

Love hiking in the snow, little tip the trailhead parking lot is a bit towards the inside after you drive down hill. If it is slowing without a 4x4 car you might have issues driving out up the hill of the parking lot. Park outside of the trail parking lot without going downhill can prevent that. The trail itself is beautiful easy hike along the creek. We took some beautiful pictures in the slow

Absolutely beautiful trail and a must see if you’re visiting Glacier. When we went in July they had just opened the trail so there was a good amount of snow making it more difficult for some than you’d typically expect. When clear of snow - this trail should be easy for folks of any skill level. We saw Marmots, Mountain Goats, Rams, some type of wolf and while we didn’t hike down to the lake we had heard from people coming back that there was bear activity as well. The only two negatives were the parking - we reached Logan Pass around 7:30am and the parking lot was 75% full and filling quickly. Get there early to avoid issues. Also - tons of human traffic on the trail. Still a 5 star experience, just be prepared for the crowds.

We did this hike earlier this week (Oct 21) and it was a great first hike in Glacier. The path was easy and the water was beautiful. The ground was frozen but conditions were otherwise great.

Lovely hike in the snow! Was looking for an easy hike for my parents and the road past Avalanche was closed so this was a great option. Super easy and high traffic. Beautiful views and the creek and waterfalls the whole way.

Super easy with some traffic, but not surprising since Going to the Sun Road was closed at Avalanche. Beautiful snow-filled views the higher you go, with access to McDonald creek and waterfalls on the majority of the trail.
