Short and sweet with a stunning view of hidden lake. You're sure to see mountain goats and maybe a bear but it's always crowded.

Crowed during tourist season but still one of my favorite hikes. There is so much beauty all along the trail. At the beginning there's not a lot of shade so it's easy to get sun burnt. Be sure to wear sun screen and if you get too hot you can always jump in the water at Saint Mary's Falls.

We headed up to the lake via Lake McDonald Lodge. Lovely hike in the trees to the lake. Crossed the bridge and hiked along the river. Such a beautiful trail and views. Only saw one other group.

After we hiked the Highline Trail from Logan to Granite Park and took the shuttle back to Logan, this was the perfect short hike to finish the day off with. Mid-July, there were still quite a few snow-fields to cross, which a lot of people seemed very unprepared for. That said, none of the fields were dangerous in any way, just don’t wear flip-flops. There were a lot of people on the trail, so be prepared for that. Despite the crowds, we saw several mountain goats and ground squirrels. The trail beyond the overlook down to the lake itself was closed due to bear danger, so can’t comment on that, but even just the view from the overlook is more than worth the hike.

Nice walk through the forest , much of it on boardwalk. Plenty of room. Great look at some amazing trees up close Fallen cedar with roots on end is an amazing natural work of art !

we went around 8-9am and it was CROWDED. its a good hike if 1) you need recovery day from a long hike 2) want to do a "family" hike 3) you are older and have problems with some of the other moderate or difficult hikes. if none of those apply to you, i'd pick something else.

Beautiful trail to a waterfall and the lake.

Hiked to St Mary's Falls early in the morning before the crowds. Saw only a couple of other hikers on the trail. Many varieties of wildflowers. Water is crystal clear.

Trail is through a forest that burned several years ago making it interesting to witness the regeneration of it. Falls are well worth the hike.

Great little hike to a beautiful falls. We did it in the first snow of the season, but I can see how it would be very popular in the summer heat!

Groomed trail, very wide & flat with a boardwalk section. Great creekside scenery amid giant trees makes it seem like you're further in the forest than you are

Great trail in an amazing location.

Beautiful. Worth the hike.

This was a great hike, but I'm still not sure if I made it to Virginia Falls. I think we were at the top of it (the water flow is much less than earlier in the season, I'm guessing), but I don't recall seeing a spot to view the falls from below. The unnamed falls in between doesn't clear up any confusion. But it was spectacular regardless.

Great moderate loop. The view at the Quartz Lake campground is worth the hike alone. Decent elevation but minimal vista opportunities - don't expect your climb to be rewarded with world class overlooks. If you're looking for an easy 2-day at GNP this is a great option. Feel is very similar to the Adirondacks, just looking up at larger mountains.

Loved the hike itself. The hike says dogs on leash. DONT BELIEVE IT!!! I picked this hike because of it. Didn't read the park book, which was my fault and had no place for the dogs.

Very beautiful waterfalls.

Beautiful trail! If you want to see wildlife and avoid the crowds, get there early in the morning. Logan pass has a large parking lot, a gift shop, and bathrooms, but seeing as it is a major destination most of the parking fills up quickly. My family and I got there around 7am, just after sunrise, and saw a huge heard of bighorn sheep and a family of mountain goats. Bring binoculars if you have them.

Most of the path is covered in a wooden boardwalk so it is extremely easy for people who have trouble on rough terrain, or people with young children. The landscape is gorgeous and every direction you look could be a postcard for the park.

you can park and walk a very short distance to see this set of waterfalls. they are nice but not spectacular. the best part is the gorge, which most people miss. climb to the top along the railing. to the West is a narrow gorge cut through the rock by the creek. there is a viewing spot there.

a quick stop on the side of the road

Nice hike along Saint Mary Lake to three waterfalls starting at Sun Point. We logged 7.2 miles round trip. Trails and falls were not too crowded with people pollution. Nice easy hike compared to many other trails in the park.

Beautiful trail through gorgeous dense forest. The trail brushes up against the lake briefly by the real treat is the series of waterfalls and rapids that followed towards the end of the trail.

Good hike. Saw a deer on trail and moose in the lake. Good view of changes after forest fire as well but this caused the hike to have little shade. Would do again.

Hiked this loop in conjunction with the Avalanche Lake Trail. Great views. Very heavy People Pollution!

Definitely a crowded trail but nonetheless was a great view all around, everything was super picturesque and you can see pretty much all 4 seasons whichever way you look. Spring wildflowers, summer temperatures, fall colors on some trees/brush, and the winter snowcaps around the area. I went all the way down to the lake itself and geez walking back up wasn't very pleasant, but it was worth it nonetheless. Most people stop at the overlook but the walk all the way down to the lake definitely gave you some epic views.

Amazing view, we went early in the morning so there wasn't as many people. There's wooden steps most of the way up making it a nice easy hike.

Went in mid-July and there was a decent amount of snow coverage still on the trail. If you're going during that time trekking poles would be a good idea! Saw quite a few mountain goats and going in the late evening was the perfect time.

Easy hike, beautiful views. Wish it was longer :)

straightforward and simple hike one way takes you to st. marys and virginia falls which both were spectacular though I saw a lot of people turn around before reaching the actual Virginia Falls so keep going and you'll know when you reach the end!

the other way was supposed to lead to another waterfall but i never found it. but there was a cool floating dock
