Best falls I’ve been to this summer!!! The hike to the blue hole was rough. I had two dogs with me, but they did really well. Make sure you wear sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting wet!

Kind of a pain, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it every time. Super crowded on the weekend, and there will be a lot of people during the week, so be prepared for that. Took two medium sized dogs, just be prepared to have to carry your mutt in certain places.

This was a beautiful hike I took with my 16 year old son and 50 lb dog. We went in the morning so we could finish the trail well before sunset, so started about 9 am. I am so happy I consulted all trails before going, because some other reviewers mentioned that they didn’t bring enough water. I took 108 oz split between our backpacks, and we drank it all. Other reviews mention a section which has large jagged rocks, and that it would be easy to twist an ankle on those. I second that. Hiking boots strongly encouraged.

Our hike was last year, and I can’t wait to hit this trail again in the fall.

Trails were not maintained very well. It would have been super easy to get loat, trails are marked by blue dots on trees.

we backpacked to our campsite... it was amazing but definitely difficult with a heavy backpack! would love to do it again when the snakes are sleeping and without a huge backpack!

Love this trail. Although there are places that are somewhat overgrown and full of chiggers, the trail overall it's great. Not to difficult in my opinion, but had some good parts that were challenging. Have been twice in the last 3 weeks.

very cool and gorgeous trail. very difficult at times. Definitely a quad and glute workout with all the steps. waterfalls are amazing

Great trail but it's closed past Sycamore Falls which was only around 2 miles in. Looking forward to going back after the gas line has been repaired.

Wow! The waterfall was beautiful. There were a lot of people. The hike back out was pretty steep, but well work the trip.

very pretty. slippery rocks of course so make sure your shoes have tread on them before going. the trail winds from the land into the water to the rocks to get to the waterfall.

I’ve never been disappointed with my time on this trail. It can get busy and parking is difficult @ times. Don’t let it scare you; be patient - it’s worth the wait!

Nice place to take a easy hike to great views. The water fall loop take about 5 mins. The Stone Door trail is easy going in till you want to go down blow then it a little steep to the bottom. But at the top great views of the valley.

First hike for us. Grueling hike back but it was definitely worth it. We did this in eight hours including closing out the day at Welch’s Point. Will definitely go back to camp! We played in the falls at Laurel Creek and explored the cave behind it. Hiking down to bottom of Virgin Falls was breathtaking. Beautiful and powerful!!

Not gonna lie, this trail is tough. Deserves the hard rating. The description says the trail is 6.6 miles, but my tracker says it was 8.8 miles. It’s not a loop trail, you go up the same way you come down. The initial descent is easy, but it was completely uphill on the way back. I felt like it would never end and we would never get there. Make sure you bring more than enough water. I brought a filled 17 oz bottle and four regular sized water bottles, and that wasn’t enough. I would bring 6-8 bottles. The elevation gain is intense on the way back up. You should probably be in fairly good shape to hike this trail. I would go in the fall because it was really hot during the summer. Also, wear bug spray. Bugs are flying around you just about every second you’re hiking. And while going down the trail you walk into spiderwebs pretty much the whole time. Some of it is overgrown, so I’d be sure to check yourself and others for ticks when you get done. The views were decent, but not the best. It was just an okay hike, not really worth it in my opinion.

Did this hike a few weeks back, for the first time. By the time we went back and explored a bit at all the main "sites" of the trail, it ended up being 11.3 miles. The hike itself was pretty but the falls, both at the bottom and the top are definitely a site to see. I highly recommend going being the falls, just be very careful.... there's a crazy drop down into some kind of underwater river system. Its just neat to see. will definitely be back. I don't have a ton of "difficult" hiking experience, but I'm a very active person & at times I struggled. It took us 6:14 to complete by the time we stopped for lunch and messed around at the various sites. If we were focused, we could have easily done it in under 5. We will definitely be back, loved this hike!

Most of the trail is meh, the falls are great. Be sure to keep going back until you see the large drop off that’s impassable.

Great trail! Section along the river is far better than the rim overlooking it. If you like waterfalls, rivers, cool rock formations, you will love this one. If not, why are you hiking?

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid 28 years now this is the nicest park there is. Always a ton of wildlife out I’m glad they have the rules they have there it keeps things nice. Parking is difficult if you go on the weekends but besides that no complaints.

This trail has strict rules. No running very little view of the lake the first half. So many people was just very disappointed. The park was nice just limited. Won’t go back

Favorite. Incredible overlook at a couple locations. One has a little deck to stand on, the other you can be right up on edge. trees at both provide shade to enjoy the view. Beautiful. Paved until the deck, then has lots of roots and sand. Has signs and labeled, but still confused. I missed something, could not find the stone door....

Great place!! Short hike down stream then follow the river bed to the falls. Ton of people.

great trail. return trip kicks your ass. take your time it's all up hill

I found it strenuous but once you hit the falls it is so worth it.
It took us 4 hour and 30 min round trip at an elevation of 906 ft

Once you hit the cross the path above the falls there is a cool spot perfect for a picnic

The view is amazing!!

Beautiful trail, make sure to bring enough water (at least 3 liters). Steep elevation gain on the way back.

Had a great time this past Sunday with the family. Kinda short but fun.

I enjoyed this trail and I agree with the previous Hikers. It’s probably more of a Moderat trail. Lots of roots and inclines and downhill sections. We did about 10 miles without the Overlook on a day hike.

Absolutely beautiful!! We hiked all of Virgin Falls trail, including the Northern Overlook, Sheep Cave, Caney Fork, and Welch point on a weekend summer day. Our group ended up hiking about 11 miles including all of the little side trails. This is not an extremely difficult trail, but also not for beginners. It has steep, rocky, and rooty inclines and declines all of which is not terrible if you are fairly in shape. Our group found it to be a fun challenge. We also went at a time of low water flow. This may have made the falls slightly less dramatic if you are going to just see the falls in full force. I found it to be perfect for crossing the river at the cable crossing and for exploring the caves. We were able to go back into the caves as far as we wanted or felt comfortable without the proper gear. The falls were majestic! I highly recommend this trail and all the side trails. Bring a bathing suit and take a dip in one of the many blue holes. This trail does not disappoint.
