This my place baby. You won't find a more beautiful forest!

Great hike for all levels. The view at the bottom of the lake is wonderful and the path along the lake is very peaceful. The climb to the top gives a great view!

I had trouble finding the path to the blue trail that brings on top... If taking the white trail longing the lake and then going on top of the mountain (to get on the blue trail), you will have to cross a small bridge and keep heading away from the lake for like 2min and then the blue marker will be on a tree on the right (the path is delimited with rocks that blend well in the scenery). Then just keep your head up to see the markers. Can be done within 2h.

Great day and hike. Enjoy

I gave 5 stars bc it is a great hike with great scenery. The trails are very well marked.

Simply beautiful. We hiked in from a parking lot north of the railroad tracks. The underpass regularly floods and today it was impassable for short vehicles but the sidewalk was above water.

NOTE!!! The waterfront trail floods severely at high tide cutting you off. The water depth at peak high tide is deep enough to go over boots. Some people in warm weather take their shoes off - but in the cold you have to take the long way around or double back.

The trails are very nicely kept. We hiked into the area and took the left trail split. This trail has some significant elevation changes we decided to tackle it while fresh. We also confirmed that high tide was at our starting point and with the flooding we took the high trail hoping for the water level to drop as we hiked the wooded trails.

The view at the end is worth the walk. We were correct in our planning that hiking the woods took long enough for the high tide to recede. We still walked through flooding but it was barely over our toes on our hiking boots - sneakers would not stay dry even 2.5 hours past high tide.

I have been hiking here for over 15 years... love this place

This was my first hike since moving to Connecticut and it didn’t disappoint! Beautiful views, easy hike but long enough to feel like a good work out, and very dog friendly! Bathrooms halfway through the trail were a nice surprise. Also, the GPS directions to the trail head from this app were right on and it was easy to find!

Great trails , awesome views .

one of my favorite hikes! sunken forrest is quite magical... went mid october and the weather was perfect!

Fun afternoon on a nice fall day. Trails weren’t marked well at a certain point and we only found the correct path by chance - definitely make sure to check where you’re going

Super duper pretty. Little confusing getting down (was with some randos who couldn’t find it either) but for the most part 99.99% well marked.

Nice leisurely bike ride. Easy to follow and wide trail. Don't expect any mind-blowing views. Would be a great trail for trail running.

This hike ranks as one of our favorites. Fantastic views, we loved the long stretch of hike along the top of the peak. So many places to stop and take in the views.

Easy trail , clearly marked , great views , little elevation and beach

Spectacular. Great with dogs!

we took north trail at the fork and could get only to a location where the trail gets lowest and closest to the lake. after weeks of raining many parts of trail were flooded but stepping stones helped lot until the spot where the trail was impassable. we had to return after merely 1.6 mile :( As we were getting closer to the lake we could notice more trash ( as described by other hikers. The lake is full of floaties, pool noodles etc etc. Along the trail we saw plastic bags full of "party trash" like plastic cups or plates. And yes, clothes, shoes, towels were not the unusual view. Besides all these additions, the trail itself is great and steep.

Very nice little hike . Up to the castle was a little challenging for beginners

Still my favorite in the area,

easy hike, nicer part is first half mile.

One of my favorite hikes in the area. Nice incline leads to wonderful views.

Long hike- prepare for about 45 minutes with a real rough terrain. Well worth it once you get to the top!

Nice easy trail! perfect for my dog. Even has a water fountain to fill the water bowl

A really good trail for families. I have a 14, 11, and 8 year old and they loved it. It is mostly flat and spends about 80% of the time in the woods. The other part is at the half way point at the beach/pavilion area. It was a very crowded beach day and I was the only person with a hiking bag. They have picnic tables at the beach area so we were able to have snacks/lunch there. We saw only one person in the wooded area but a TON of people at the beach area.

Beautiful and interesting secluded walk through a shady haven forest of Fire Island

Love this trail. Easy to walk. Has a little of everything. Woods, marsh, rocks, beach, and a bathroom at the end of the trail

Nice and easy. Beautiful views from the bluffs.

Easy trail along the shoreline. Great for dogs.

An easy loop trail with good views and an enjoyable hike.
