Awesome hike for those that are getting used to the altitude. The scenery is amazing.

Fantastic trail, but straight up to start. Don’t be daunted, great hiking after you get up off the canyon floor. Some great views, lots a shaded areas and very few bugs. Nice hike, but dedicate a good half day and go early in day if hiking mid-summer season.

We hiked this after a Lake Dillon kayak trip. It was the perfect trail to get a good view of the whole lake and range, as well as impending storms. Wildflowers and awesome views the whole way.

This was a very exciting day on the trail - we saw a black bear and two snakes! The lookout/outcroppings were stunning.

A great trail to introduce your kids to nature hikes... oh, and the views are incredible as well!

Followed directions to trailhead. Used app recording to insure we were on the correct path. First surprise was a steeper descent to the stream from the start. Trail narrows at the stream so we backed up and aborted this trip.

Hiked this trail as a kid with my family and now as an adult it is still a favorite. Such a great combination of tree cover and open space with a couple little water crossings. You can make it more difficult by picking up your pace but it’s great for all levels.

Always a family favorite. Great for little ones. Saw a big bull moose about 20 feet from us. Amazing!

It says easy, but it was a little tougher than easy. The beginning heads straight up, makes you wonder early, stick to it and keep going. Nice view of Dillon Lake near the beginning. pretty Ricky in places and tree roots along the way make it more difficult. If you are a novice pretty tiring. The lake is very pretty with nice mountain views. The trek back in was easier.

Not "EASY" unless you're acclimated! Still very beautiful, but I feel this is mislabelled in the AllTrails

Decent trail. Hiked it again after previously hiking it about 6 years ago. Lots of dead trees around the trail which had hardened the beauty of the trail, but still a decent hike.

Lovely stroll for kids and great views. But can get crowded.

This trail was beautiful, well maintained and a relatively easy hike with kids. The lake at the end is a perfect spot to relax before looping back.

CHIPMUNKS AT THE LOOK OUT VIEW!! They will come up and eat right out of your hands, they are all around. Beautiful view on the trail as well, short and easy! Definitely recommend! Take some black bird seed the chipmunks love that stuff! Or any nuts!

Nice to stretch your legs when driving independence pass

Fantastic hike and very doable for kids. We had ages 3-13 with us and all had a great time. I do think it’s important people know this isn’t an easy, flat walk through the woods- it does have some pretty good hills throughout.
We are also up from the front range and are acclimated to the elevation. If you are visiting from somewhere lower this could be a bit tougher for you, although if you’re in pretty good shape I still think very doable

We are 60 and in good shape. We thought the difficulty level was easy to moderate. We were not 100% acclimatized, being flatlanders and been here 3 days. Rocky trail. Great view of Dillon Lake near start. Then forest. There is a lily covered pond at the end. That is not the lake. About 100 feet north of the pond is the lake, but if you don’t walk there you may miss it. I think some people actually missed the lake because they thought the lily covered pond was the lake.

Great short hike! Spectacular valley views, and forests terrain. I especially like how the trail is dotted with raspberry bushes. My only complaint is that it's very steep most of the way, which made it slightly more challenging than anticipated.

Great hike. Due to slight inclines, rocks and roots in the trail I'd rate this more moderate than easy. However it was a very enjoyable hike and the lily pond and lake at the end were beautiful. A nice place to rest before heading back.

We took our three kids (ages 6, 6 and 5) and really loved it. A bit rocky and definitely some incline but worth it. We saw elk, grouse, chipmunks and ducks! The reflection on the lake was beautiful too!

Very picturesque hike with great views of the reservoirs, mountains and town of Dillon. Great for a short hike

It was very crowded on a Saturday, so that is to be expected but the trail is pretty narrow. I had to keep wrangling my dog and atepping out of the way from people and other dogs. Also the chipmunks arent scared of people because they get fed so much but subsequently, they arent scared of the dog and will go right up to them and there were a couple times I was emotionally preparing myself for twenty people to watch my corgi carnage and cute little chipmunk. This didnt happen but if your dog is rodent obsessed this is not the trail for you. A dog in front of us barked non stop at them and they wouldnt flee so he just kept doing it. Also be prepared to be asked to take pictures of a lot of tourists. Great place for a hop out of the car and look at the views but I wouldnt hike again...

Absolutely stunning views!

The hike was lovely. Well-maintained trail. Lake at the end of the trail was gorgeous. I saw a moose up close! I went on a Tuesday evening and saw 5-6 other people. Out and back took me about 40 mins total. Worth it!

Took the family out early on a Sunday. We were the first on the trail about 8:30. The 3yr old, and wife (4 or 5 months preggo...idk) and myself.

Little one made it all the way to the first lookout- a couple good rest stops and some promise of a ride down helped get us there. After that it was on the shoulders. The incline after was real!!!

Aspens made the trail really cool halfway up. Lookout at the top was really cool. Windy and Sunny- it felt great after being in the shade the whole way up.

The hike down is no joke. You don’t realize how steep those runs were.
Your legs are going to talk to you :). Overall nice hike. Did it carrying 45lb toddler and didn’t feel unsafe.

Short little simple walk to a small pond. Very crowded, tons of dogs and kids at the top.

Easy hike with a beautiful lake at the end. My dogs loved it! We went in the evening so it wasn’t busy

Our 4 yr old did fabulous! Beautiful hike for the family or an individual.

For a fat flatlander this was a little north of easy, lol! The trails are rocky and rooty in spots but not too difficult to traverse. There are a few log stream crossings and another larger lake after the lily pad pond that we didn't expect, very picturesque. Note it's a bit buggy so wear good bug spray and there's a few brazen, obviously well fed chipmunks that will go after your pack for food.
