Beautiful hike! lots of traffic on the weekends. Will be back for sure!!!

I hit the West Rim Loop today and it was amazing! The trails were well-marked and very well-maintained. Took me right at 3 hours and I was moving at a moderate pace with several stops for water breaks and picture takes! Definitely one I’d do again.

It was absolutely amazing and so beautiful!! Loved every second of the hike!!

Says dog friendly, but we drove an hour and a half to essentially be told we would have to carry him to the gorge floor. Don't be fooled, you can totally enjoy all the other loops; like we did! The gorge floor is permit only and NOT, NOT a real path. It is a foot path at a 45 incline up and down through the forest over roots and slippery rocks. It is a treacherous hike. The only path we couldn't go on way the "Hurricane Outlook" path because people had died there the day before. The stairs are a fun one, but if you get easily dizzied or don't like hieghts, I recommend you do NOT do it. I wish I would've known about the gorge floor thing before we had gotten there so I wouldn't have been disappointed.

Tough hike for me but well worth the views at the top. Will do this one again.

This was a great family hike today. Easy to find, nice maintained trail. Beautiful view along the way. Beautiful area at lower water fall if you want to hang out for a while. It was getting busier as we were walking out around 11 am. Definitely will do again.

Recent rains have made some areas along the trail a little muddy but they have made the falls pretty fine. I've hiked this several times but the volume of water going over the falls is the best I have ever seen.
This is very good hike if you don't mind crossing the stream in the water due to the damaged bridge. That was really fun once you get in and try it.

Good hike

I highly recommend doing this hike early in the morning because it does get busy. The bridge is broken but, if you feel comfortable doing so, the creek is pretty easy to cross and not very deep (I'm 5'1 and it came up to my knees at the deepest). You see two beautiful falls and can swim in one, blue hole falls. If you're planning on swimming, make sure it hasn't rained for a few days because the current is really strong and the fall is unswimmable if it just rained.

Offers a different overlook perspective of the canyon. I especially like the large boulders overlook. The sections that are near water are beautiful. If you want to see rhododendron, this is the trail you want.

Hike killed me but great view

This was a great day hike. We accessed the trail from the Springer Mountain parking lot for the Appalachian Trail, south of the loop, and hiked up the AT to the junction of the AT and the Benton Mackaye Trails. The drive up to the lot took a while, but the road was well-maintained and no problem for a little Hyundai.
The trails are clearly marked - white rectangles for the AT and white diamonds for the BMT. There is enough elevation and stream crossings via rocks or bridges to give you a work out, but nothing super steep or difficult to travel. There are a few spots where a trail turn could be missed, but as long as you are watching the trail markings (or using GPS) you shouldn't have any trouble.
There is a variety of foliage as you cross through different "zones;" lots of amazing colorful mushrooms and a good mix of challenging vs. level trail. We only saw one other group of people during our hike, and a lot of the trial was incredibly quiet, unless you were by the creek.
Overall, a beautiful moderately challenging hike. We all decided we would do it again.

Steady climb all the way up. Some great views at the top. Fun trail.

Awesome hike!

Nice, peaceful trail. Saw a small bear by the parking lot.

Arrived at the trailhead by 8:15 on a Friday morning. I came after several days of heavy rain and definitely had to navigate some muddy spots. But it was well worth it. The river was roaring and the falls were awesome. I didn’t come across anybody until on my way back out. Finished and back to the car by 10:15. I thought this a relatively easy hike until the end where you do see more elevation gain. For anybody hesitant to go on this trail you do come across several falls early on and could definitely turn around sooner and would still be satisfied. Followed it up with a trip to Dukes Creek Falls and then some wine tasting in Helen. Lovely North GA day trip.

Early morning hike on the Monday after father's day. No other hikers the entire out and back. One of the overlooks is closed since a tree fell on it, doing significant damage. The other overlook is open and several spots where you can get down to the water.

Nice hike but more crowded than I would like on a weekend. Mid June and the rhodedendrons were just starting to bloom at the start of the trail. Almost no blooms yet higher up. The mushroom and fungus diversity was spectacular.

We did the West Rim loop along with Hemlock and Cherokee falls. This place has the feeling of being out west when your actually in Ga. It is a busy spot, but well worth fighting the crowds to see some once an a lifetime spots.

Easy out and back through and amazingly beautiful valley. Despite the damage to the upper observation deck by a fallen tree, the view of the two falls at the end was well worth it. The trail was well maintained and in excellent condition. The grade was surprisingly easy. We’d go again.
