Trail was easy to find. The porta potty had a sign on it that said due to lack of donation they are unable to keep up with the maintenance. Started walking the trail, and it was very pleasant, but NOT clearly marked. There are no trees marked in between trail markers and it is very easy to end up off course. We ended up miles off the loop turning a 9 mile loop into a 13.5 mile hike before we finally called forestry because we were running out of light.

vista maravillosa, el lugar muy bonito...

Pretty steep but worth it

Great day...i agree with the other reviews....would be very difficult to get lost. Follow James steps verbatim

I wouldn't rate it as hard unless you're not in fair shape. The cliff at the top is worth the effort.

Beautiful views from the top!

Did this on a day hike, all the way from the visitors center. The stairs are not easy, even with just a light pack. The falls and initial scenery are breathtaking. The walk going up kind of fools you with how it seems easier than it actually is. Your sore feet will remind you of how much climbing you really did. Coming back was faster, but not easier. The stairs coming back down are a joy (not).

great trail, beautiful view, moderate level

The trail isn't marked well (we got lost a couple of times) but other than that, it was a great vigorous hike!

I did this trail last summer and it was super hot which made it harder but overall it was an amazing trail. The reward at the top was well worth it.

The fact that it was rated HARD intimidated me. Don't let it do the same to you. Go at your own pace and make your way to the top to enjoy the beautiful view!

The stairs are something else. Nothing like 700 stairs on day 1!

This trail is no longer closed. It was an excellent hike, with waterfalls, creeks, elevation, and views.

Great hike but the trail isn’t clearly marked in some parts!

Fantastic very diverse trail system. Time flies while hiking it. Lots of surprises along the way.

Tough son of a B, so rewarding! Awesome cliff side views at the top of you stay to the right. Then you get a wide open field for campin out at the top (if you stay left when you get to the top you get to the wide open spots quicker.. so If you’re getting there late to set up camp.. stay left lol then check out the rock side views in the daylight) definitely would recommend trekkin poles!!

Great hike, definitely strenuous at parts, but the views from the rocky cliff is quite spectacular! I would love to go back and camp out there - they have some great backwoods camping spots!

Really nice trail. Fun elements of creeks and views and Vogel is really pretty. The climbs are serious but not unbearable. I took my boys aged 9 and 11 backpacking in the counterclockwise direction. Good reviews containing good details elsewhere here. This all trails gps trail location is off and wonky near Bear Hair trail. Not terrible but a wee bit disconcerting.

Pleasant afternoon hike for Wife and I to Preachers Rock (approx 1 Mile to rock). Great views along they way, particularly from top of rock. Will do this one again! Moderate to Easy.

Beautiful trail with great views! Added part of the Bear Hair Gap Trail to get up to the overlook to see Brasstown Bald. We did the trail clockwise which I recommend. That way we had the two big peaks to accomplish first, not at the end of our trip.

Was a little dumb to try to squeeze this in in a half day but I survived. Was carrying just a small day pack with some clothes and water. Up and back took just under 7 hours but I was flying on the way up as I felt time pressure to finish before dark. Paid for it on the way down, I was blasted the last 5 miles or so and those down stairs at the end were miserable. But it's the good kind of sore.

Was fun to see and chat with a number of thru-hikers just starting their adventure, I was very glad I didn't have a heavy pack!

had an awesome time fishing over the summer. beautiful lake.

Was a great short hike for the family. Youngest being seven years old. Nice trail, great views and not crowded on a weekday in February.

good trail w/ nice view at the top. steady incline almost the entire way. not the best on blazes would be the only complaint. it was actually 4.7 miles round trip too, according to my hiking app. once you reach the peak, the best sight is to the left were a handful of trees have been cut.

Such a beautiful view at Preachers Rock! When you first come up to the trail you can go left of right... no idea where left goes, but right goes up to Preachers Rock so if that’s where you’re trying to go, take the trail to the right!
